LLWAV - I wanted to bring the New Year in by doing something nice to LilRed's Mustang. I have done a few mods to her ride since Christmas and this was the latest. I wanted to make a video for anyone who wanted to do a grille conversion for their 16 Mustang. I hope that it is detailed enough and helps. Nice. Did pumpkin have any codes, engine light or other drivability issues from the completely open intake port? I’ve heard it can cause problems. Just noticed your grille lights blocked off the intake port. What did you do for that?
No codes whatsoever. The intake port was already small on the original grille and there is a very tiny one on the driver side grille light. It’s been a welcomed visual upgrade. The only downside that I would like to mention is that after 1 year the driver side light has began to flicker and is pretty much going dead. Only way to replace would be another grille. That’s not happening. Outside of that, visually she’s solid. Hope that helps. 🤙🏾
@@LiveLifeWithAView Well, kinda. I bought a Shelby SS mesh grille that used on some models like the Terlingua. It has completely open side ports w/no mesh. I’ve been hesitant to install due to reported surging issues at speed. I think Shelby uses a GT350 style open element air box so, that (or the tune) may eliminate the turbulent air across the MAF (this is my concern). Living in CA currently so, CARB crap. No open air boxes are approved here except FRPP. I wonder if the Granatelli MAF could allow for the higher air delivery.

RTR was the way to go definitely changed up the whole look of the car for sure .

I'm a bit late but can't you remove the horse from the previous grill and install in on the rtr one??

Everything is possible Alex, just depends on how clever you are. The badge is attached to the grill by some flimsy attachments. Even if you break them unintentionally you can super glue bases on the back and then attach them through the grille. LLWAV!!

Do the lights only come in when it’s night time? Meaning are they connected to the parking lights that auto comes on or no
They are spliced into the Day time running lights.
