How to Install UNAVI Wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto

00:04 Set parking brake and shift to
neutral
00:15 Remove the shift knob
00:55 Remove trim panel below monitor
01:45 Remove one screw and remove the control panel
02:27 Remove two screws, the radio AC panel, and
the light panel beneath
04:04 Remove the air vent panel
05:23 Remove four screws and the metal spacer bracket
05:59 Remove OEM monitor
06:52 Remove two lower screws and
pull radio forward
07:50 Disassemble the OEM monitor
12:34 Install CarPlay Sub Board, LVDS cable,
and Sub Data Cable, then reassemble
24:43 Connect DCU main cable
26:25 Connect CarPlay MIC cable
27:46 Route the Sub Data cable and LVDS cable and
reconnect OEM monitor
31:31 Connect iPod harness
33:18 Connect the External Speaker to the
CarPlay USB cable and route the USB cable
34:31 Route the CarPlay cables into passenger
kick panel area
36:31 Connect CarPlay cables to the CarPlay Set Top box
38:12 Place CarPlay Set Top box in passenger
kick panel area
38:46 Location of CarPlay USB cable
39:48 (OPTIONAL) Install USB Extension Conversion Cable
47:30 Mount the External Speaker
47:53 Tip Check screen alignment
48:14 Tip remember to reconnect OEM connector for
radio AC panel
49:07 Test CarPlay functions

Hello, this will work on the 2018 Pathfinder factory Madia without navigation just the base system.

There’s any way to configure the return button on the panel? Sometimes is not useful to have only that function in your steering wheel. Especially if you are driving and alone on your car (if you need turn and press the return button at the same time).

Do you need to install the small external speaker and/or is it really needed for anything?
Hello, we suggest to replace the 12 volt charger in the armrest, however if you feel you are able to install it into that location it's up to you and your installer. We use the one AUX port in the vehicle for CarPlay/Android Auto and when you listen to AM/FM or Sirius/XM which uses the same AUX port, the announcements from CarPlay/Android Auto system will come from the external speaker. Does this install video apply to Pathfinder 2020 as well or is there a different video/instructions?
Hi this is one of the techs here at unavi. Some 2020 have different monitors like the internals are a little bit different. But taking the car apart and the connecters and everything is almost all the same thing. Besides the monitor and the module itself.

Just recently my screen went black and I can’t see anything except when I’m in reverse and it’s showing my backup camera. will I need a new screen before I attempt this upgrade or is it a easy fix??

sorry it isn't a screen that we add to the car. The car already comes with it, were adding something to the screen itself.

Way too much involvement for average drivers. Get a bigger screen cell phone, connect it via bluetooth ... done !
