Guthrie is one of the few guitarists that makes every note count, without wasting any space or time in his musical journeys on the fretboard. This guy's contributions to the electric guitar will stand the test of time.
Guthrie is definitely gifted, both in terms of skill, creativity and above all how he steps on the strings, I think that is the most incredible thing, he does not fail and accentuates each note that is necessary with an almost unreal vibrato doing it at the speed he does... Guthrie Govan definitely sits at the table of the best guitarists in history…
Guthrie Govan has got to be one of the most well rounded guitar players on the planet. I've seen him play many different styles and he feels every one of them. His choice of voicings in truly amazing. Love this guy.
Here are the axe fx presets as per JTC website: For the many thousands of you that have watched or purchased Guthrie Govan's 'The Late Night Sessions 2' series then you will most probably have noticed that he is using the incredible Fractal Audio Systems Axe-FX II throughout. Now, we imagine that many of you would be thinking just how we got those incredible sounds out of Guthrie's guitar. Of course, the player helps....but, due to the power of this incredible unit we took a few of the simplest factory presets and modified each of them with just one basic tweak - i.e. removing all the reverb and delay so that we would have the option of adding those effects separately (with outboard gear or plugins) which we did for the final mixes. Just a touch of delay and reverb was all that was required. So, here are the factory presets used for each track: East City Central Lights - Friedman HBE The Open Highway - Friedman HBE Seal The Feel - Plexi Treble The Best of Times - USA Lead Time to Let Her Go - Class A 15Watts TB
im a big vai and satriani fan, but i have to say this just blows you away. not sure if steve or joe could pull it off like this man. amazing and yes why is he not in the G3 list
amazing, he all ways does something new in every video that's not only technically superb but also stunningly musical. Thanks for the inspiration Guthrie!
Unbelievable.. Whenever someone tells me to check out an "amazing" guitarist, in the back of my mind I just know it's not going to impress me. Guthrie is unbeatable. Such a unique style and voice, fuck I can't get over how perfect his playing is
I’m so jealous of this level of dedication, no doubt a naturally gifted musician however the hours he’s put in to get to that level amazing! I’m board after 1 hour of player per week 😂
That is how it"s done! Thank you Guthrie! I may get that same guitar, but doubt I will ever get close to that skill level, nevertheless, I'm having a lot of fun!
Granted, the artists you mentioned are legendary, greatness defined. However, you act as if Guthrie isn't great. He never started a swing player, and by far he is a fusion player over a legit swing/jazz player. He loves chromatics and music in-general, and plays it all so well. The best thing to me, about Guthrie, is how he can fill the spaces so much, with so much creative phrasing. The fact that he's playing distorted guitar over clean and his unique phrasing makes it "un" jazz but jazzy.
Charlie is amazing But its great to see players still carrying on that tradition 50 year from then and more in the future. This style is amazing, sexy, and beautiful. I hope to reach this one day! Rock on fellow musicians!
You guys HAVE to check out Steffen Schackinger! He is in a similar league as Alex and Guthrie. Check City Lights on Rpoland's channel. That should be enough to convince you but his other videos are amazing as well!
Nowadays, one of the best things on youtube is Guthrie Govan. Of course because he is simply the best guitar player alive. But above all: There is nothing to discuss about him! S.I.M.P.L.Y. N.O.T.H.I.N.G.!!!! So I ask myself, what all these discussions here are about. You´re searching for the top boss of the guitar olymp? Then stop discussing and press play!
I like how, in the latter half of the track, he switches to using his fingers instead of the pick. Creates a more pure "human" tone. He does this a lot actually in his playing in general. Jeff Beck inspired thing maybe.....?
If only the rest of the world had a appreciation of this kind of musical talent.
It does though
@@topografer not really. Even among guitarists there are many who think Guthrie is just a shredder
@@ggh_-ts6pn they are deaf indeed
@@ggh_-ts6pnhahaha the jealous ones I reckon.
@@topografer my brother literally called him elevator music
Imagine the joy of being able to play like that at will. Pure honest craftsmanship.
I practice daily and live for this. I know my hair will not be black anymore by the time I get there.
I'm kind of glad I can't improvise like this, because I would literally do nothing else all day. I'd be homeless in 6 weeks.
I'm 60. Been playing since I was 14. This is the best guitarist I have ever heard. Omg.
I'm like you and I totally agree
I'm nothing like you, but I completely agree!
Shawn Lane
Same. I'm 40 and have been playing for well over 20 years, and I'm not even CLOSE. He is a national treasure.
That bend at 1:34 has now been forbidden in all 50 states.
Guthrie is one of the few guitarists that makes every note count, without wasting any space or time in his musical journeys on the fretboard. This guy's contributions to the electric guitar will stand the test of time.
The thing that most blows my mind most about Guthrie's playing is his insane bending control.
+Mark Lambert Definitely one of the most overlooked parts of playing guitar I feel.
Always perfect, huh? He's the guitarist guitarist. :)
check out his free masterclass on bending. Happy Bending ;)
Mark Lambert very good observation! (or whatever the sound equivalent of observation is called)
some say that string was actually the first man made thing on mars
Guthrie is definitely gifted, both in terms of skill, creativity and above all how he steps on the strings, I think that is the most incredible thing, he does not fail and accentuates each note that is necessary with an almost unreal vibrato doing it at the speed he does... Technique + Feel = Guthrie Govan. The best
Novembrine616 you. An say that again my friend! Absolute emotional control! Rare raw talent to the upteenth degree!
I come back every few month for this godly music.
Guthrie Govan has got to be one of the most well rounded guitar players on the planet. I've seen him play many different styles and he feels every one of them. His choice of voicings in truly amazing. Love this guy.
Everything he does is so incredibly well executed.
His bends are pitch perfect..literally.
No matter what anybody says, I firmly believe the AxeFX to be the greatest piece of guitar gear in the world right now.
Simply brilliant! The little bebop hook at the beginning is so memorable. This man never ceases to amaze!

I can watch this video non-stop and it never ceases to make my jaw drop.
im a big vai and satriani fan, but i have to say this just blows you away. not sure if steve or joe could pull it off like this man. amazing and yes why is he not in the G3 list
he had already played with G3 a few times
that bend at 1:35
wow....impressing as always. The last index finger bend and vibrato is just unreal
1:19 just wow
I could just listen to this all day!
technically speaking, one of the greatest guitarists in the world
Guthrie must know everything he hears in his heart before he plays it. Favorite guitarist ever
His style is completely inimitable!
The blending is killing me! i come back to see that monent for a thousand times!
amazing, he all ways does something new in every video that's not only technically superb but also stunningly musical. Thanks for the inspiration Guthrie!

So try Mateus Asato and tell me. I agree with you that Guthrie pushed the bar to the sky, but some guys still impress us.
Danilo Nunes Tanner Mateus is a great modern player, but Guthrie is still the absolute messiah. Lol
Ye only m shawn was on this levwl. Guthrie gladly god there with his own unique voice
I don't how many times I pressed replay.
It's been a decade and I'm still coming back to this shit
he already knows that he's gonna nailed it, he's just listening at his props impro and just enjoy he's awesome playing...
1.34, THAT BEND!!! I get goosebumbs everytime I hear that, shieeeet!
I’m so jealous of this level of dedication, no doubt a naturally gifted musician however the hours he’s put in to get to that level amazing! I’m board after 1 hour of player per week 😂
Migic... Guthrie magic everywhere!!
This is the man that got me excited about playing guitar again. Thanx Guthrie:).
That's just "too-much-good-ideias-per-second"! This guy has got something else, and he never ceases to amaze...
God thats such a dirty bend! ❤ grabs you right by the soul!
You always amaze me Suhr Govan
Jeeez, he's just brilliant, isn't he?! Absolutely amazing, no doubt about it.
the best tone in the whole world
The complete guitarist-brilliant
Cause he's just too good for it. He'd blow the other artists away.
That last bend !
Nobody combines Speed and Soul and Tone Soo well.
That is how it"s done! Thank you Guthrie! I may get that same guitar, but doubt I will ever get close to that skill level, nevertheless, I'm having a lot of fun!
Wow, one of the most perfect tunes from Govan. I just love this one! GREAT!

The fact that this is all off the top of his head is just mind bending (see what I did there?) ;) but seriously practicing my ass off now
Me too but every moment I listen to Guthrie, I feel like I haven't progressed.
Epic picking style at 1:50
'tis a monster bend.... but the intonation on the varying bend at 1:51 to 1:52 is just immense!!!
What a delightfull player to the ears, i wish alcohol rehab sounded like this, so i can finally listen to that.
Guth is surely the best all-round geetar player in the cosmos
Charlie is amazing
But its great to see players still carrying on that tradition 50 year from then and more in the future. This style is amazing, sexy, and beautiful. I hope to reach this one day!
