- An unboxing and first look at the DeWalt D26204K 2 in 1 1/4" Router that I have wanted for a long time.
I've had the Bosch GFK600 for years and I'm very happy with it. I just wish it had a variable speed control which is the primary reason for buy the Dewalt.

Just bought the Dewalt D26204K and your video was very easy to watch. It told me what I needed t know. You spoke clearly, in a language I could understand. Nice to hear English, English for a change.

Yes you will love it. Used mine to do some inlay work with guide bushes. Also purchased the collet so having 1/4 and 8mm to be able to use metric and Imperial. The inlay system coming from USA. The fence is close to my old Elu system, which Dewalt purchased many years ago. Great video.. Love you shop!

Very helpful, thanks! Looking for a 6mm to 8mm router to replace or supplement my crude but functional Trend T4, bought primarily for simple, not very precise work or for single purpose use with Peter Millard's Domino Substitute jig (Trend is not the Trend I knew 30 years ago!). Was Lloking at the Trend T7 for more precise fence and depth control and more power but it is a crude kitchen focused machine and on the Erbauer end of the quality range with power making up for inefficiency. The Bosch 1600 looked tempting but out of my budget and it's closer to my heavier duty machines. The Bosch 1250 looks ideal with all the extras I'd like for track and cabinet holes but, again, a bit too pricey for a retiree until I get back to a part-time job. I'd liked what I'd seen of the DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Makita 2 in 1 cordless options and I have Milwaukee 18V batteries. This looks like my budget and almost all my uses for a trim and plunge router at this collet size. Your comparing it with the more specialised, trim-focused Bosch was so clear, well paced, and addressed what I need to know. Looks well worth the extra £100 over the Trend T7 I'd planned to buy after using, and getting annoyed with, the T4 at my daughter's house yesterday

Hi Len, I assume you're referring to the OF1010. For my money there in slightly different groups. I find the Bosch and the Dewalt much easier to handle for those smaller jobs as there definitely one hand Routers, where as the 1010 is that little big bigger in the body, 👍
Good review with positive first impressions. I think the collar on the fixed base unit would easily be lost under the workbench in my shop never to be found again. By the way, what happened to all the wood above your router table? Hungry termites?
Hi Dan, thank you. I decided to move all the timber either into cut lengths ready for use down the end of the workshop by the bandsaw, or into the Woodshed. I want the space for,,,,,,,,,something else. 😎👌

3:18 You don't need to take off the adjusting ring for the plunge base.
7:09 Why not use the router in plunge mode for this job. The wider base is more stable.
Personal preference, I prefee the smaller base.
would this outfit be powerful enough to use on a sled to thickness a few mm off timber and resin. The timber and resin area would only be about 320mm x 200mm. and if so what would be the best planing bit to use
Hi Paul, at 900w its definitely got enough power. I have one of these in my CNC, the longest job I've run with it has been 4hrs with it running continuously and its taken it without issue. I'm not sure I would want to use this router for surfacing though. I bought a cheaper 1/2" collet router from B&Q a few years ago, a JCB 2100w that I sue for any jobs where I don't need the sophistication of some of the better brands and I'm just hogging out material, my thought being that I'd rather wear out and replace a cheaper machine. All that said, the Dewalt would cope with the workload especially if you don't use too large and end mill. Hope that helps. 👍

I'd need that info for a diy build and could help me to make a final decision in ordering one of these.🙏🙋♂
My plan is to use the router also in a router table. I'd like to purchase or build an extra fixed base for that use only. Since the bases solely are hard to find in Germany knowing the diameter might be a useful info to build something that could be mounted under the table.

Hi Andrew yes it can, you just need to wind it up the shaft a little.
