    Hello,
Thanks for being this intuitive and detailed while explaining.
Can you please link me to the video of which u explained how to make the time series file ( mentioned on ~ 11:30).
    Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have been watching the tutorial videos and they are really helpful. I am getting an error message upon running the simulation that says, it failed to initialize CP1, my most upstream control point. Do you have any ideas on why this might be happening?
    Thanks!!!

Based on that error, I suspect that you have an issue with not having flow coming into the upstream end of the model. ResSim needs a flow at the upstream end (most upstream junction) of all streams. You will want to specify a name for the flow on the local flow tab in the junction editor. In the alternative editor, you then link that inflow name with a DSS file. You also need to make sure that the data in your DSS file covers the lookback period and the simulation period. It sounds like you already have your simulation created. After making sure that you have a DSS file (with no missing data) linked, go to Simulation > Edit and "Run New Extract". This lets ResSim know that you need it to extract a new time series. This is automatically done when you first create a simulation, but any changes to dss mapping will require "Run New Extract" after that for it to take effect. Hope that works for you. Let me know in the comments, and I can try to do some additional trouble shooting if you are still getting an error.

Hi, thanks for the reply,! Do you do private lessons or troubleshoot sessions? @@hecressim

Hello - thanks for publishing these videos. They are very well done. I've watched Building a ResSim Model a few times now! It is a helpful quick-start guide.
I am looking to simulate historic operations of a reservoir in ResSim. The historic water supply demand from the reservoir is known, and it is time-varying of course. I would like to include this data as a time series, so I can pull water from the reservoir in a manner consistent with the recorded data. Do you have a recommendation for how to go about it? Seems simple enough, but I can't find the model feature to make it happen...

David, I put together a video to show how to do that. Uploading it now.

thank you very much for this video. I tried following the steps of this tutorial but when I want to create the simulation it gives me this error "Simulation Start date must be after Lookback Date" even though I used the same dates used in the tutorial. If you have any idea where I have done an error could you please help me

Some international users get this error message due to a Windows issue. HEC provided me with a response to try to fix this. It is on my blog at this location: hec-ressim.blogspot.com/2016/06/error-message-of-start-date-must-be.html

I am not able to draw the stream. What could be the reason for it ?

    • @hecressim
      @hecressim  4 ปีที่แล้ว

I opened up a new ResSim model to see if I could run into any issues that may explain the problem that you are having. First, make sure that you are in the Watershed Setup module. That is in the drop down box in the upper left hand corner. All buttons will be grayed out until you create a new watershed. Adding a watershed location and creating a new watershed are shown at the beginning of the video. Select the stream alignment icon on the left. Hold down the CTRL key to start and left click with your mouse at each point you use to define the stream. Release the CTRL key before you click on the final point for that stream. Once that is done, a window should pop up asking you to name the new stream. If you are unable to get this to work, I will create a new video to show the steps. If you do get it to work, let us know what the issue was in the comments. I am curious about the issue that you are running into.

Hi! I´m unable to draw the reservoir, it says the pool is not closed

    • @hecressim

Thanks for the question. I believe I was able to reproduce that error. Reservoirs need to be drawn from upstream to downstream. So, if you draw your stream from the bottom of the page to the top of the page, ResSim interprets that to mean the upstream end is at the bottom of the page. If you then try to draw the reservoir from up to down, it will think you are drawing it from downstream to upstream. There are two solutions. First, if your stream is not oriented in the direction you want, right click and select "reverse direction". You should then be able to draw in the reservoir in the direction you are trying. Second, if the stream is oriented in the correct direction, you should be able to draw your reservoir in if you do it opposite from the direction that is giving you the error message. Let me know if that solves your issue.

@@hecressim thanks so much! Because I imported the stream alignment, at first I didn't noticed the direction was incorrect, that solved the issue :)... But now I have another one hahahaha, I cannot edit junctions and reservoirs at the reservoir network, hope you can help xx

@@laksh2388 That issue may be a little more difficult to diagnose, but I recommend starting at this post on the blog:
      hec-ressim.blogspot.com/2016/08/developing-stream-alignment-in-hec.html
This post provides some information about importing a shapefile and some issues to look out for. It contains advice from HEC and from my experience.
Specific to your question, computation points in the watershed setup module become junctions in the reservoir network when you use your watershed configuration to create the reservoir network. In doing that step, the reservoirs that you create should also appear in the reservoir network. To select them in the reservoir network, remember to select the proper icon on the left hand side. For example, if you have the reservoir tool selected, you won't be able to select a junction. I believe you can also have the arrow selected, and that will allow you to select any element. If you are still having issues, I can develop a quick video to show those steps over the next few days.

@@laksh2388 After re-reading the blog post that I mention above, I would recommend that you check your imported streamline to make sure that it is not segmented. That is a common issue, and I recall that causing problems in the past.

@@hecressim Hi! Thanks for the feedback, I made a new shapefile and still in the reservoir network module I cannot open the junction editor, even though I´m selecting the junction tool :(
