We love our old 71 speedstar cable tool! My dad has ran it for about 35 years on his own and I have been running it since I got out of highschool. 24 now. Definitely a learning curve! I think by now we have replaced or repaired every part on it and she runs like a dream. Lots of wells drilled and finished with stainless steel screens here in western Washington

I run afoundation rig drilling dewatering wells across this great nation of ours and on the weekends run a 22w with my family and enjoy the experience and the knowledge I get from the older method. Thanks for the video and I agree it's a tradition we shouldn't let go.

I just turned 18 and spent so long trying to find what the rig I worked on was called, nice to learn how it works

This is funny to me... Not your video but the full circle I've come to land here.
I was watching a video by a man named Donnie Laws about Applachian history and he'd come across a very old quarry which he says was drilled with steam so I began searching for info on what and how this was done and with what equipment.
When I was steered towards search terms to help me find what I was looking for I found your channel.
I hadn't realized yet why or from where my curiosity originated till I heard you speaking and began reading comments of young men in training.
I went to Alaska in the 70's to homestead and landed as an apprentice after job corps trained me up. Eventually I was placed on a 36" diamond bit rig used to drill pilings for the Valdez docks. I must admit I don't remember much about the equipment or the operation of it now, partly due to a sustained brain injury. It's great to see your video and feel like learning what I can about this subject.
    Thank you very much

Put my son on a 55 speedstar when he graduated school at 17,a year early in 2002. He is a union foundation driller now making big bucks.
