The New Forest turns NASTY - VANLIFE UK

- Join us, Carol & Ken, as we take a trip to the New Forest in our Consort Nova Motorhome called Snoopy.
In this video, with a storm closing in we have to leave our park up to get out of the winds. The forest is so wet and, with roads partially flooded, we head to an open area we know to park safely. A blown fuse changes our plans and we have to move on again.
Back at the coast, a walk nearly ends in disaster as Ken takes a tumble. A comforting meal is called for to end the day!
The next day is Good Friday so traffic causes mayhem at our park up. We take a walk along the shingle spit to explore Hurst Castle and finish the day with one of Ken’s favourite meals.

It's my first time watching your channel. I loved it. So heart warming. My husband passed away 2 weeks ago and it's been so difficult for me but it made me feel warm and happy watching you both together enjoying your life. X X
@@peggysioux5yrs so sorry for your loss. Glad you had some comfort from watching our video. Take care ❤️
Awwww😢I’m so sorry for your loss 🙏🏻❤️
So sorry for your loss it must be really difficult. Please take care.❤ XX
I’m sorry you have lost your husband! All I can say is I hope you have a good friend that you spend more time with you, maybe she/he maybe in the same position?
Take care my lovely....time heals and eases but in your own time...

I must say that unlike most, I love grey skies and rain. 😮😊
I'm the same way rainy days are my favorite, and my favorite times of year are fall and winter.😊
I love it too ⛈️
Me too. Other people’s “bad weather” is my good weather!
Me too xxxx
We look forward to it and celebrate with a nice cup of tea
I love being inside a trailer with that special someone, toasty and warm and protected while the world rages outside ❤
Yes we love it ❤️
Enjoyed the video. Your van looks so cozy when you are all inside and the rain is pouring outside and wind is blowing . Take care .
Thanks 👍
I’m jealous. My husband died 9 years ago. I sure wish he was here to do this.
I (Ken) believe we live multiple lives and belong to a group of souls who work together. See a book called ‘The journey of souls’ by Michael Newton.
My 3 year old grandson always thinks a yellow traffic light means “boot it” 😂😂
Just found you tonight, and subscribed right after your video. You have a beautiful calming aura around you both. Also a quiet, dry humor I love. Can’t wait to see what else you treat us to in the future!
Thanks for subscribing and we are glad you like the videos 👍
So bizarre to watch this whilst we are all sweltering, strangely comforting 🤷♀️Great video as always
As long as the van is not leaking, it is part of the fun😅
Agreed 👍
I love how y'all take turns cooking 👍👍
I feel like I've just been on a mini break watching this. The food you cooked looks so tasty! ❤
You cannot beat a home-made soup. Much better than a can. Butternut Squash & Carrot is one of my favourites.
Have just found your channel. What a treat.the howling of the masts was my one of my favorite parts. Greetings from across the pond.
@@TheAyurvedic welcome. Thanks for watching 🙂
Despite the weather conditions your both making it a fun trip & you drove past my Road ( Boscombe) 😊 great video thanks for sharing 😊
I enjoyed the cooking segments. That weather was horrible, but you were cozy on the inside!
I could list to you both all day !!! I love the fact you have a van with more room - you both deserve it ❤
Thank you 🙏
So cozy hearing the wind blowing outside while you cooked. Nice meals are part of the small joys of life. Have a great summer ☀️🌸
So true. Thanks, you too ❤️
Well done Officer Ken for chasing down that fleeing cap, you’ve still got those cop instincts.

Have you thought of cookbook for vanlife? You're good at being inventive. ❤
Maybe one day ☺️
I lived in the New Forest for over 20 years. Used to often go down the road to Milford on Sea.
Nice place in some ways, not in others. Thanks for the vlog xx
Snoopy = a safe, cozy haven in a storm ❤
Lovely video. thank you. I am enjoying the meals for two that you make look so easy and taste. I could smell the soup all the way to St. John's, Newfoundland, where I live! All the best.
I really enjoy your company. I disabled so it’s lovely seeing you both on your adventures. You’re both so nice. Thankyou x
Glad to have you watching our travels ❤️
l so much enjoyed you both from the state of Georgia in the USA
This sure beats watching a movie. You two are lovely 🥰
@@unicornloverxoxo7692 thank you ❤️
Love the way you are both so creative with your meals. The van is really cosy with that storm howling outside.
My Dad was a police officer in the USA and taught me about the road grease when it first rains. You're absolutely correct. He was also in a fatal accident investigation team so he saw first-hand how it played out. ❤
Yes it catches a lot of people out. That first little bit of rain is the killer.
"Black Ice"
We learned that in drivers ed when I was 15.
Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware and I appreciate it
@ureallyannoyme there's no 'drivers ed' in the uk. We learn from a family member or an instructor and they don't always include things like this.
I've been watching a lot of camping in the rain videos and your VANLIFE UK came up. Very nice sitting back and watching you two making the very most of a tremendous storm. Have subscribed . . . . take care
Glad you enjoyed it
I as a former coach and bus driver always double the amount of distance between whatever I’m driving and the the vehicle in front but more often than not some numpty will always try to get one car ahead of me and then they’ll often come a cropper because of their impatience. It still doesn’t detract from your wholesome videos.👍🙏
I don't know if anyone's ever told you but your voice sounds like the guy on Winnie the Pooh it's so sweet y'all have a blessed day
Hi, I'm from North Dakota in the States, I just love your channel 😁
Hi Jenifer 🙂
I don't really care much for watching people travel & cook, but I enjoyed your video.😊 New Subscriber
Thanks for the sub 😁👍
That’s just what I love about van life. It wouldn’t do for us all to be the same though would it!
I really enjoyed your video Thank You from Mississippi,USA
Toasties a firm favourite in the van. Your fuse issue made us think, must get some spares 👍
They have been added to our emergency kit along with the cable ties and gaffer tape 😄👍
Beautiful video! Thanks.
Wow .. that’s sweet , he thanked her for cooking
My husband does almost every time ❤
My husband cooks for me as I'm disabled and I say please and thank you for every single thing he does for me
Every meal it’s very lovely.
Thanks again for having us along on your journey!
Thanks for watching 🙂
Great video. I’ve forgotten all about the 5 months of rain we had now the sun’s shining. I always enjoy seeing what you cook in the van. Delia does a lovely white onion sauce for smoked cod/haddock. You use the poaching milk and add chopped hard boiled egg, delicious. Mind the peas would be nice added too. We sometimes have the Lidl Frikadellen in their panini rolls with cheese and tomato sauce and we call them the Carol and Ken’s 😁. Thanks as always for sharing another entertaining video.
Glad you enjoyed it❤️
So much pleasure watching these videos !
I love hearing his voice, in so smoothie😍
Great hat save Ken. Fast on your feet, committed to the task. You could teach the England team a thing or t two there. Entertaining as always. thanks :)
I thought that wind would tug it away from me so I gave it the full body slam 😁👍

Grrrreat! I love it, cooking et al! 😊 feels like I’m with you. Those sausage tasted lovely! ☺️ 😋

A pot of live chives would be a good addition to your van, as they are so good in many recipes.

Awesome video and soo happy you guys were okay in the storm, cheers from Halifax Nova Scotia Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️🤗
@@nicolebezanson731 Thanks for watching. Greetings to Nova Scotia 🇨🇦
May I be so bold as to give you a wee tip on elevating your celery soup…? I’m 45 and have been making this since I was 19 when my ex mother in law gave me a Mary Berry cookbook (along with 3 others!) to make sure I was feeding her son 😂 what I’ve learned along the way is, using a peeler to peel the ridge from each celery stick will give you a smoother soup.
Always soften your ingredients in butter and/or oil before adding the stock. It massively increases the flavour.
Finally, don’t add too much liquid during the cooking process. But at the end, add some milk or cream to give it a rich flavour. 👌🏻
I now also add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard, but that’s a personal preference.
Loved watching you cook your omelette! And you look like you’re having a lovely cosy time in your camper. Just discovered you today and look forward to watching more. But lol that weather! Almost like our Scottish summers! 😅
@@ScotVenus thanks for the tips, much appreciated 🙂👍
A great video Carole and Ken pleased to see you avoided the worst of the storm as I can vouch on the coast was pretty bad as the waves were coming over the harbour wall in Bridlington East Yorkshire.
We wouldn’t have wanted it to be any worse 😅
I love your van! It always looks so cozy in bad weather. And the food you make looks so good! Hope you get a break from the rain and wind. Send some rain this way to Colorado where it is so very dry. My mother used to make the peas and onions in a white sauce all the time. . Thank you for the idea!
It would be nice if we could share the rain 👍
You could of just bought a soup maker, they are fab , just throw everything in it and it does all the work. Happy travels.
OMYGAWD THE HAT IN THE WIND!!! PERFECTION!!!
Steady on you two!!!
BE PEACE!!!
If you cut up the sausage in to bite size peices they will cook quicker and mix nicely in with the rice 😊
Wow! What a fabulous video! Your editing is excellent! Definitely subscribing! ❤Joy from Vancouver Island, Canada
Cheers and welcome 👍
The van seems to handle inclement weather quite nicely. That looked delicious. Very nice video.
Hi Larry. The van is doing great 👍
I’ve just found a few frittata recipes to use because the one y’all made looks so good!
Well-done guy's another fabulous video, make me laugh when carol's hat was blown away. Love from Caroline Butler ❤
Thanks Caroline 😁👍
Such a cute couple!
Looks and sounds nice and cosy in the van the rain the wind blowing and cooking a meal..my fav channel..thanks Carol n Ken.

You two are an awesome team. Taking turns cooking. Enjoy your Stick Blender, couldn’t live with mine. My first one lived 26yrs!
Great service from your blender 👍

Thanks so much! 😊
That’s fair old storm … the infamous ‘Ken Tumble’- the old frittata looking good
Sooo relaxing, especially because it's in bad weather!
02:00 sound of the mast stays is nectar - i can fall asleep to that and the wind and rain after years of sitting in the shelters that used to line the Princess Pier in Torquay as a child in an effort to ponder life.
👍
Another nice video Ken and Carol many greetings from Stockholm Sweden
Glad you enjoyed it. Greetings to Stockholm ❤️

Oh wow I have just found your Chanel and I must say it’s delightful Thankyou so much for sharing your adventures. Looking forward to the next one And catching up with older posts x
Hi Julie, glad to have you aboard👍
We never worried about the wind when parked up, and we had a coachbuilt on a few stormy days. Weather forecasts usually exaggerate wind speed, it's always 'up to x miles' which could mean anything 😂. I've never seen a panel van blown over whilst parked up 😂.
I have not seen a van either but I vividly remember my dads caravan and awning being written off down in Cornwall when we went out for the day.
Enough on a quiet Sunday morning with a cuppa 🍵 and dunking biscuits 😊🎉
Good to see you both again, hope that you both are having a great day. Your celery soup looked delicious. What you had ,before looked so yummy.
Thank you! You too!
master cook😀
Van was rockin don't come knockin. 🤣It's the storm
Nice Hat save! Also some good van dinner ideas! Nice one...
Just in case you're interested... 😁 The rough white water was probably just wind against tide (outgoing tide in a channel, pushing against the water the wind is blowing the other way) which can be REALLY SCARY when you're in a boat amongst it! And the mast thingys... well, they're called mast stays or shrouds and it's the wire of those shrouds that you hear screaming. That's also REALLY scary when you're on a boat in amongst it! 😂😂 We're definitely going to try out Onion and Pea Sauce. Cheers and thanks again. always enjoy your videos.
Blimey I didn’t know that about the waves. The wind was certainly strong enough. 😁👍
Enjoy watching you both, love seeing how you are getting the most out of life.
Thank you for sharing, 👍
Prayers for your well being & safely.

We live on the Isle of Wight, and right on the south coast ….the wind was nothing like it can be! We are near where the land slide was! But I can tell you once you have lived here you get used to the wind!
Loved the video.. Many reasons to laugh. I know that area well as use to live there. Stormy seas always dramatic! Have you ever been to Brittany? It appears its very camper friendly and loads of interestingplacesto visit.
Brittany is top of the list at the moment for later this year 👍
Hello Ken corol u 2 deserve an Oscar for these vid bloody fantastic take care ❤
Glad you enjoyed it 😁👍
Please remember to always keep a working carbon monoxide audible alarm in your van in case you don’t already have one.
Always! 👍
You two eat like royalty when you’re camping.
How do you find condensation on the windows in a morning with your new van?
Condensation is much less than in our Little Red camper. Most of the windows are double glazed so on them there is none. 👍
Good job in running for her hat well done 👍👍👍
Take care X X X ❤
Watching both of u relaxes me ur both so lovely a beautiful couple & u can tell how much love u have for each other which is also beautiful both ur voices are so calming I’m just catching up on ur blogs thank you for sharing them & ur motorhome is a balance between really comfortable & homey I love it take care on the roads ❤

Well done ken for the hat save 🙂 I love seeing the rain no matter what time of the year 😊
Folks, have you considered applying RainX or equivalent to the outside of your windows to repel the rain, it might help videoing out the side windows. Enjoying the vids. Bill
I have. Need to get the one that is kind to the windows. It used to work great on my motorcycle visor back in the day.
Certainty making good use of the new van xx
This could be the second comment you get from us today ( phone issues)
You were certainly blown about in this one! Wise to move away from the coast. Enjoyed all the cooking in this episode. Sometimes the oddest mixtures taste the best don’t they? Loved the look of that toasty too. Pleased Carol got her hat back. It’s a very nice hat! Some beautiful views once the rain cleared up. Thanks for sharing. ❤😊👍

Thanks for the enjoyable video, great to see how you face storms with high winds, doing all the cooking at the same time....
Next time you are back down our way, try Pattersons butchers in Ringwood High Street. Best butcher made sausages and their pubs are delish too. In fact all their meats are scrummy and they even have a fishmongers next door.

Enjoy your trip and lots of blessings. Watching from the tropical rainforest of Suriname 🇸🇷
@@magdaindiaan4235 wow, Suriname is probably one place we will never get to visit. Enjoy 🤗
Hello you two, had to do some catching up😁nice you are all warm and dry. I did a tour de France all the way to Andorra, and up to Sweden now. Hope you are in better weather and enjoy the van with AC. See you and as always, thanks.
All good here. That is a big trip. Enjoy 👍
We had a derecho come through Oklahoma 2 days ago and cause a lot of damage. Storms are getting bad. I don’t remember any storms as a child in England but one time our ferry to France was cancelled due to Gail force winds. Your blender stick would be perfect for blending eggs. To make a soup come together you need a binding agent. 1 teaspoon of corn flour/starch mixed in 3T water, or 1T wheat flour mixed in 3T water but you have to temper it with a cup of soup in a separate bowl so it will not get lumpy, or 1/4 dried potato flakes straight in. I always put a small pinch of cayenne in my soups and it really does not bring heat but it does add something. However, I put garlic and onion in everything so people probably cannot taste any cayenne because of that, lol.
Thanks for the tips 👍
Hi guys. Don’t want to sound paranoid but are you somehow listening in to our conversations? We were watching you cook and Claud said, “hmm…Asian rice with a white sauce sounds a bit weird”, and within seconds Carol turns to the camera and says, “I know some of you will be thinking Asian rice and white sauce is a strange combination…” lol. It’s great though seeing all the fancy cooking you’re now doing. Getting very sophisticated! Another very enjoyable watch. Take care x
Yes I placed a listening device in that whopping big camera lens you were rocking when we met 😁👍
Both the meals looked delishious 😋😋😋😋😋

Funny watching this after our mini heatwave! Lovely meals and thanks for the driving tips: rain after a dry spell makes it slippery. Must get a small squeezy bottle for the oil, beats spray fry light! X
