Dude. If all the tutorials for everything else on TH-cam were half as good as your SSF4 ones, the world would be a much better place. Keep up the great work.
Yeah, these have been SUPER helpful. I've had to stop playing for awhile due to just having no time from work, and these have been great. My fingers have totally forgotten things like option selecting techs or how to properly plink. Man, even a short break means you have to go through a whole refresher.
@NoCigar1991 After everything you mentioned it is -1 Frames on hit or block I believe. This might be character specific. I know for certain that it is pretty much "even".
Good tutorial. Used this to figure out i can complete a level 2 focus attack for Juri trial 24 instead of trying to dash and hard punch after the previous combo inputs (was becoming a real pain). Thanks to you, finally got my favorite character flag/icon.
Man, I'm doing last Ken hard trial and can't stop watching ur tutorial. God damn it))) I'm not good in English but I understand what you talking about. Thank you 4 this man)) It's very interesting and helpfull. Still w8ing 4 PC-version SSF 4.
Thanks for the help, I didn't notice when characters flash they can use the stun focus attack I mostly just use cancel, or fake focus. Much appreciated for the help guys
@VesperArcade According to the frame datas, it is -21 frames for the attacker if he doesn't dash. So if you Focas Attack and dash, the disadvantage will be dependent on the speed of the character's dash. So Dhalsim has the highest frame disadvantage after a level 1 FA on block, at about -11. And Chun-Li has the best at +6 on block.
One note. When you show the buttons for focus attack, you use the index and middle finger. However, when you show it later (for example around 7:30), you do it with middle finger and thumb, which keeps you in home row. Would be good if you add that tidbit in an annotation so people learn that method as well.
That FADC was important. TY. I used Zangief, and i've seen people FADC into U1 and ive always tried it never got it and seeing how early you could put it in. Thanks Man.
you forgot to mention one thing captain street fighter, IF you're already holding back or forward before you focus you only need to tap that direction one more time to dash or back dash.
Hey, dude I need some advice on which is a good stick to purchase for not only this game but that is suitable for MVC 3. I was looking into the new Hori VLX that $299.00 one is that a good choice. I already have a Hori SA (ps3) but looking to step it up a notch
I have a few questions. Who has frame advantage after level 1 focus dash on block? Level 2? Who has frame advantage after FADC from lets say a DP on block? What are the best options when this happens if your blocking, or if you do it while your attacking?
Ooooh, no wonder I keep botching up my FADCs. I keep thinking I have to time it after the hit. I didn't realize you can just put it in during the attack animation. Does it work just as well in 2012?
Another great tutorial Vesper. No pressure or anything but have you uploaded the jump cancel into ultras yet. I have done the cancel with ibuki twice but i don't know exactly how i did it. Plz help out asap.
Avernaus, if your looking for the costumes still, you can buy the various packs from going into "Games for Windows Live" when the game is running by pressing the "HOME" key on your keyboard. You will see a tab which will bring up the sub menus for buying them. You will need 1200 Microsoft credits ( £18 / $25 ) for the pack which allows alternative costumes for every character, there are also smaller packs that do a few different ones at a time. You will need to have a credit/debit card added to your "Games for Windows Live" account, as paypal is not accepted for PC purchases. There is a glitch that stops a card from being added via these menus and you will need to first add it to your account via the website portal. You can also get more costumes that are fan made by searching Google. They use a software programme to install them and there are some really cool ones out there.which are 100% free and really well made.
Hey Vesper, Got a question: quite often I'm in a situation where I'm doing a lvl1 or lvl 2 focus. Then, right as I release it, I have to input the dash command or not. Problem is: at that time you don't know yet if you'll get a counter hit or not. If I'd get a counter hit, I'd like to have a dash forward. But if I don't, then I'd like a dash backwards. How do you decide whether to dash forward or backwards on the release moment of the focus attack? Thanks, Stof
@IFaildatMagi Vanilla refers to original SF4. We say vanilla because it is plain Street fighter 4 not Super Street fighter 4. Vanilla is a plain flavor, that's why its used. Vanilla is used in all kinds of gaming especially for games with expansion packs. And PikminExpert, You should stick to Pikmin because I've never heard anyone say Vanilla ryu in my life when differentiating the two :P
One time I played a noob and he focused so many times in a row that his entire health bar was grey. I just went up and threw him, winning the round. 1000 damage throw FTW!
@yodelboy there are several videos that show the timing along with a thread on SRK about it. aside from those sources, there really isn't much else that can be said about it.
Your tutorials are a great help for new players and veterans in mastering this game. I have won a lot more online matches after watching these. Keep the videos coming!!!! PSN fOxTrOt6024
the best tutorials out there! other ones are just like a quick run through, but this one goes deep and explains everything :) love these! :)

@DashXero Only if you held down the button, if you just tap it you cannot dash cancel from it, unless it was a fadc from a special or normal move.
watching these again over a year and half later. good refresher! clearly explained!

@yodelboy theres a video on here, called Option-Select Ibuki, or something like that, that tells you how to do it two different ways

Really helpful man, much appreciated tutorials.

Newbie question: Can a level-one Focus Attack be dash cancelled? I've been trying to do it in Training mode, but I can't seem to pull it off.
Many thanks for these nice tutorials, very helpful. :) Keep it up!
Is that Chun-Li outfit a modded one & if not which one is it because I have the pack for SF4 & the 2 packs for SSF4 and I dont have that one...
@astrofallz okay okay i'm just getting frustrated with the stupid cancel it is only thing hinder my completion on the trials.

hey vesper where did you get that chun li's costume? I have PC SSF AE and i can't find it in the market place.
Another great tutorial Vesper. No pressure or anything but have you uploaded the jump cancel into ultras yet. I have done the cancel with ibuki twice but i don't know exactly how i did it. Plz help out asap.
@Vesperarcade, You never do a focus forward dash. Is it not safe or something? You always backdash.
