This is a great review, and a great radio.
I was licensed in December 2015, and bought the TS-570D. I was fortunate to get one in excellent cosmetic shape, and it functions 100% with absolutely no issues I am using an HyEndFed Classic 4-band 66-foot wire antenna that is about 30 feet up sloping down to 12 feet. My QTH is Western Quebec, Canada.
My first contact was the last weekend of May, to Milan Italy on 20 metres, distance of 3900 miles. He gave me a signal report of 57! I have made DX contacts to Hungary, Slovenia, Spain and Serbia. My club used this radio as the GOTA radio on field day. We had 118 contacts on 20 metres and 40 metres in the 24 hour period.
This is a great radio, if you get one you won't regret it.

Another excellent review. I have checked out many radios since you recommended I look at the Alinco DX-SR8T on your Ranger 2995DX review.
That recommendation sent me crazy with curiosity and I have enrolled to get an Amateur License. Because of you I now realize the profound differences between CB and amateur radio equipment.
So I find myself here. I like this rig a lot. I also like the Yaesu FT-840 (Circa 200) because of its simplicity.
BTW, I've just found and purchased a secondhand telescopic antenna mast (12m) - my 1st piece of radio equipment heh...

Do these still have the old 'Kenwood sound' on the transmit SSB audio like the old TS-830's and TS-430's ? Wonder how the rubber entry pads will hold up over time and how hard would they be to replace providing you can still get them in 10 or 15 years?

OK, I have a question. I own one of these radios. It was given to me by a friend when they found out I was getting my ham radio license. The problem is that it when it works it really works. I have had some good luck making contacts and even joined a couple of nets over long-distance is. But the problem is that sometimes when I turn the radio on and I punch the talk button. The microphone screams with feedback not the microphone of course but the speaker. And when this happens, I have more trouble turning my antenna. I'm using the radios internal antenna tuner which usually works well until this starts to happen. To remedy the problem, I have found that I can cycle the power off and back on again. Could this be a product of the radios age? As I am not pushing a bunch of buttons and getting into weird moods that I don't understand. Have you ever seen this kind of behavior or heard of it?

+John Crawford Weird problem. Sounds like a malfunction in the CPU board, impossible to say from a distance. No I don't think this is not an aging related problem. It is a good radio so it is still worth it to send it to Kenwood for repair.
