    I own a bursa thunder and a thunder plus. I have learned a littlec trick. When loadi5a fresh magazine Into firearm slap the bottom firmly to seat the magazine. The shock will bounce the slide free. Loading the first round into battery.

    Great video on an excellent firearm! I've owned my Thunder .380 for 20+ years now, and cannot remember ever having a FTF or FTE, of any kind. *And I have fired and carried this great little pistol a LOT!*
    One thing you may not know (since you didnt mention it) is: when the slide is locked back on an empty mag, if you 'slam home' a fresh mag with enough force, the slide will automatically chamber a round, thus getting you 'back into the fight' that much faster.
    *The gun is NOT broken!* That is an 'old school' feature (just like the 'dead trigger' safety you *did* mention, and a feature I love, btw) that was present on a lot of 'European-designed' handguns, back in the day. I think a few old Berettas had this feature, as well-- Which was the root company the original Bersa tooling & engineers came from, if I remember right...

      I just bought one a few months ago and first took it to the range and fired it with no oil and it functioned perfectly and was surprisingly accurate.

    Great video! Mine has functioned as advertised for over a decade now. I love it. Loved the Bond piece. His original weapon, in the books, was a .25 auto by the way and the Walther he switched to was .32 acp. The .380 PPK/s was in most of the movies as I recall. The last movie I saw he had the full sized Walther 9 mil. Terrific advances in technology for him what?

    Excellent video. I’ve had this gun in my collection for many years. Very easy and accurate to shoot. No misfires until the original magazine’s spring became weak. Contacted Bersa and ordered new mags.
    Problem solved. This is a smaller caliber but one of my favorites. Thank you for your video

    My first gun I ever bought. Was a great shooter. Easy to conceal carry. Felt good in my hand. Now Bersa has come up with the Bersa Thunder 380 Plus. Slightly larger gun as it now takes 15 round mags. Also feels good in my hand. One of my main carry guns.

    I have had good luck with mine so far. Put a lot of rounds through it of all brands and types. Up to 40 feet it's very accurate (beyond 40 I don't know, the indoor range I go to maxes at 40). Not much recoil, good trigger, good grip, fires well on single or double action, decent sights, and easy field strip. It's a bit of a cleaning job, it got the name "dirty Argentine" I guess from that, but it's a small trade off for it's price. With a good self-defense .380 round it will do what it needs to do. If you're dicey on carrying a semi single action cocked and locked (I am. What can I say? I'm a big Murphy's Law person) you'll like the decocker feature. Even with safety off, having it chambered and set to double on that first pull will make you less dicey. If you got it decocked for double, safety on, and still dicey, don't carry a gun.

      How is the Bersa 380 at handling plus p+ ammo , I am considering buying a Bersa 380 thunder CC instead of a Glock 380. Thank you for your comments.

    I’ll be checking this out for my father, he’s always wanted a PPK, my grandfather had one but my uncle inherited it. This seems like a great option also considering we’ve got larger hands and he’s tired of buying 9mm

      Tired of buying 9mm? A more powerful round that's cheaper and more available and more widely accepted across the globe is somehow a problem? Don't get me wrong I have .380s for good reason. Tired of buying 9mm is not one of them.

    Only bad feature other than the silly lock feature. (Put that key in the box and forget it's there), is the magazine safety. Good news is, it's easy to deactivate making it a viable self-defense gun. I originally bought the Bersa Plus model with the higher capacity and on the second magazine in the gun the mag safety came apart and locked up the gun, making it useless. That's the (only) thing a mag safety is good for, (trouble). Took it back to my dealer and he traded it for the single stack model which still has a mag safety, but it is very easy to do away with on the single stack model. Hard to get rid of it on the double stack, plus model. Other than that, I love my Bersa. Very good feeling and shooting gun.

    Hello just to update a little the characteristics of this weapon to date. Here in Argentina, the Bersas Factory, already for years ago this model of Bersa Thunder 380 ACP was updated to two models of the same characteristics and materials in general but with the update that their loaders are 15 ammunition and load two loaders per box. These models are Bersa Thunder Combat Plus and Bersa Thunder Plus .. It should be added that the firm also has a load extensor with which the chargers are left with 18 ammunition plus one in total bedroom 19 ammunition. A fire power that neither Sir Sean Cornery could have dream. Between the two new models the only difference is the rise The fight brings a Glock type horseshoe and the plus brings an adjustable rise as the model you show. Greetings and I hope you enjoy this weapon.

    Not a fan of the thunder. Mine had a bad slide. Notch wore out. Got a new slide. Gun never did work very well. Lost all confidence and sold it for a loss.

    How reliable is this modern version of the PPK in comparison to a Glock? Does the straight blowback jam less?

    • @melissasmess2773
      @melissasmess2773 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, more felt recoil because of the fixed barrel as well. Tilting barrel makes feeding more reliable, in theory at least.

    Why do I sometimes hear and see in advertisements that the Bersa Thunder .380 has a 7 round magazine and other times it's described as having an 8 round magazine?

    • @1791Gunleather
      @1791Gunleather  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are different versions of the Thunder 380. For instance, the Combat version has a greater capacity.

    • @joshuamartindale868
      @joshuamartindale868 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Bersa makes an 8 round flush fit magazine for the Thunder 380. Mine came brand new with a factory 8 round mag. Bersa is slowly phasing out the 7 round mags and replacing them with the 8 round mags.

    • @ScottWiecenski

      @Alejandro Sosa I already know about it. In the video he says it comes with a 7 round magazine, but mine came with an 8 round magazine.

      @ScottWiecenski actually if you look closely his magazine is also an 8 round. The thunder usually is offered with 8rd mag. The firestorm which is a similar gun intended for the CALIFORNIA market comes with 7rd mag.

    Being a blowback action does this kick harder than tilting barrel locking types?

    • @rew78901
      @rew78901 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      NO! extremely mild! Fixed bl... extremely accurate!!

    • @c0c0asauce
      @c0c0asauce 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Direct blowback with fixed barrel has a sharper recoil. All the recoil energy is felt when the round goes off and the slide racks back. On a tilting barrel you feel the round go off, the slide starts to move, the barrel tilts, then the slide racks back. There's at least one more moving part to dissipate the recoil energy with a tilting barrel. You aren't changing the feeling of the round going off much because there's no gas being bled off but you are changing the way the gun feels when it cycles.

    What happens when you rack the slide with the safety on? When you release the slide release, does the safety/decocker stay on? Does it decock the gun then go unsafe. I have a friends Bersa that is decocking and releasing the safety when the slide release is used.

    • @davidstrickler6570

      What is supposed to happen is the first round loads into battery while the safety allows the hammer to fall with out a discharge. Safety bar was dropped so it can't discharge.
