Nice retro cart!! I have one the same size! Have a 2030, found original speakers/brackets (eBay) & mounted them on. I mounted my gscart to the back of the pvm to free up space on top for the vcr! Personally don’t like the look of those wire racks and it’s hard to manage/hide cables with them! I bought a microwave cart w/a wooden topper. It has larger L shaped supports that make it easy to hide wires with velcro cable straps! I also got one of those cable management boxes that you put the surge protector into, really cleans up the appearance! You right though it’s a consistently evolving hobby! Subbed, cheers!
Wow man that retro cart looks epic! I love the lit-up Dreamcast sign. Retro corners are great to have. I have my CRT TV sitting on an old fashioned wooden entertainment stand next to my N64. I might have to pick up one of those SCART switchers. Didn't know you could get one off of AliExpress. Subbed btw, looking forward to that Game Room video!
I was going to put my CRT setup on a wheeled cart but the TV ended up being too big. I would still like to have it on a movable cart, that's a pretty good idea. I keep ten consoles hooked up and it's hard to keep everything tidy. I bought the cheapest switchers I could find on Amazon and haven't had any problems. I use RF, HDMI or component. I never understood what the scart hookups actually do for the quality of the display but component works very well for me. It looks like you have a awesome PS1 collection. I'll have to checkout your tour video. I'd like to see what you have. I also like your memory card holder. I'd like to have one like that. I have 6 memory cards full of saves, mostly for PS2. Thanks for sharing your setup. I look forward to the tour. Maybe you'll have some cool posters by then. 😉
Thanks for your kind words! I do have a few posters here in this room. Check out the video game room tour here: th-cam.com/video/tB40DbPGsKo/w-d-xo.html
Can confirm those AliExpress switchers are great. I have two one for my crt setup and tink 4K. The PVM2030 is a good choice of pvm due to the fact it isn’t overly sharp. It’s sharper than most consumer sets but it still gives you an accurate and authentic rendition of the game and no awful interlacing flicker like you get on higher end pvms and bvms.
I'd love to put this one on my desk and feed my main setup into it via SCART or component, but unfortunately I'd need a super long cable for that. Probably 100 feet to be safe
I ordered the exact same SCART switch box on Aliexpress on Jan 2nd, still waiting for it. Glad to see it works how I would like it to. I have a Genesis, Dreamcast, SNES, Famicom (NES) top loader RGB Modded, N64 RGB Modded, and Sega Saturn, all with SCART cables going into a single SCART to Component adapter that I have to manually switch SCARTs on. These go component to my 32" Sony Trinitron CRT (with nice bookshelf speakers). Shipping takes so long, hopefully it arrives soon.
10:40 I would advise to not go after a PVM. I find them to be too sharp, and the need for external speakers is a bit of a downside too. My premium CRT is a 1990 20" monitor-look consumer Sony TV with dual SCART, and I recently had a KV-28WS1, which I found to be too big, but it offered a great picture and it was the best sounding stereo Sony I ever owned. Playing Kyukyoku Tiger on it with the PC Engine was asthonishing. So I hope to find the small one some day, the 24WS1. I know, it is wide screen, and not ideal for 4:3 content, but it looks stunning, and you can switch it to 4:3 easily, but once you have home computer with 80 character mode, wide screen does work great.
To each their own! I'm assuming that you're not in US. Our consumer TV's don't have RGB SCART, so PVMs are the best of the best over here. For retro 2D games, the "sharp" look is what most of us are going for.
@@travisbowmanmusic Sharp yet blurry. A slight blend between the scanlines is most authentic IMO, but without colour bleed indeed. I also like it when the aperture grill pitch roughly matches the pixel pitch, so you have a certain separation horizontally between the pixels. IMO a 14" consumer Trinitron has the best picture for 320x240 content, a 20" is the best trade-off between being big enough to sit away from the TV and still having a not too high TVL count.

What did you use to mount the GSCART? I've been using some 3M tape and it just isn't sturdy enough for the job.

I have the same scart switcher and am happy with it. I just ordered a second one because I'm setting up a dual-CRT setup for PS2 Time Crisis linkage.
Damn, that's such a great idea! I might have to look into that myself one day.

Awesome, you've gained another subscriber!
Thanks buddy!

Yeah, it always takes forever for AliExpress stuff to arrive. But.... it's cheap!

You need a pair of Sony apm speakers to complete this beautiful pvm
That would be so sick! I'd really love to move this setup to my PC desk, actually.
