55:50 - Hahahaha, oh my god, it's so nice to hear Katsaris talk about this. I actually did play this version of the waltz in a regional competition in high school. The judge was very charismatic and loved it so much and let me progress to the state level. However, I couldn't quite get the voicing to come out on the keys at the state level competition, but regardless the judge was appreciative of the effort :) This version of the waltz heightened and changed the way I viewed the piano forever, for the better.
Interesting story telling from one of the legends.
I must add, as a fellow music teacher, that you are the kindest, most generous, and effective teacher I have ever had the honor to watch from afar, admiring away!
I LOVE Katsaris, but I have heard him mention L Ron Hubbard a few times now in different interviews, in one Katsaris even refers to him as "The great American philosopher" I am so dissapointed, but I still totally respect his skills. Katsaris is THE greatest pianist alive
Now THAT's a brisk reading (with much vibe) of the orchestral Hungarian Fantasy! Really great since I'm used to soloists hammering out the 0:02 thru 0:10
Yes! Yes! Yes! Kempff played with Beethoven's mind, not the page of black notes!

英語わからん悲しいー😭
Not only that, but this: after a musician makes a mistake, they play better than ever to compensate for the lost moment of majesty. Repair work playing is even higher than usual! Mistake-making musicians excel themselves to create damage control!
