the wacky world of Lucha Underground really offered something different than other organisations. I liked how over the top it was with the wild Mexican soap opera elements where people could be murdered in a cut scene or ninjas would turn up or there'd be black magic happening or mystical Aztec stuff. These wrestlers weren't just dressed like their characters, that was in fact a dragon-man and a dude from space. Not to mention the insane wrestling
That was awesome to see again...... My wife and I looked so forward to watching Lucha Underground on Wednesday of El Rey network. never missed an eopisode and I loved seeing your recap of Season 1 they were ALL maniacs on that show but Anjellico was my favorite especially doing the stage dives off the top of the office or that landing whatever it was. Please do the rest of the seasons still one of my favorite promotions of ALL TIME
35:55 it is indeed a Ironman match but in Lucha Underground it's called All Night Long which the match is the lone match for the entire show. Think there were 3 are these during LU's 4 seasons
Mil Muertes was Ricky Banderas, Judas Mesias, Muerte Cibernetica :) and hell yes that we want a season 2!! Best move for me was the big dives from Angelico, i still remember them after all those years, i was jumping up and down on my seat watching it.
One thing that I think people might not give enought credit to is to the two commentators for the show. Before I every discovered what NXT was, Matt Striker (the lead announcer) was my Jim Ross, the guy making all the action make sense and with the great calls before the moves. Vampiro (the secondary announcer, aka the guy who said "Please Chavo, do the right thing. I knew that was comming" was my Jerry Lawler, the former Luchador who knows the history of Luch Libre (seeing as he's worked in Mexico and WCW), and was the guy who you just wanted to have a beer with.
The best part of watching lucha underground live was the backstage segments. They put so much into the lore and the backstory of so many of the characters. It was so special to be a part of. I was lucky enough to have had the network it was on and would try and watch every episode. I was so into it. Killshots backstory was one of the coolest back stories I've ever seen. Like being a sniper and everything just fantastic. Also Marty the moth was the Dexter Lumis of lucha underground lol he was such a creep. He played that character so well!!
Was lucky enough to make it to the temple to catch some iconic matches, including aztec warfare, and all night long. nothing beat the two hour drive getting hype with my mates, and finishing all sweaty from cheering and grabbing tacos and a mexican coke. There will truly never be anything quite like it.
I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Lucha Underground show where they taped the 100th episode(9/13/17). The energy in the temple was absolutely electric. It was such an amazing and memorable experience. The feel of the temple with its smaller size and the ambiance was absolutely perfect. It was unlike anything I had experienced before and was truly a night to remember.
Lucha Underground was can't miss TV for me every week. I even got to go to their big first live event they did in Austin and meet Rey Mysterio. It was amazing.
31:09 Morty The Moth Martinez was already a heel. Funny enough right before was a heel turn when Johnny Mundo threw Alberto El Patron through the glass window to the Lucha Underground's boss Dario Cureto's office
The comentator is Vampiro , thats why he said please chavo do the right thing , meaning hit him with the chair lol , since vampiro was know for his hard core fights back in the day. Luhca undergrounds was actually different and it hit different, even going to the event was different. the arena was at the end of a alley way and did not look like a arena, it was just a old wherehouse. So even going there was a event and part of the experience that made i different. And yes Aerostar and angelico where big in Mexico but he was not valuated as he should in lucha underground
LUCHA UNDERGROUND was on fire when I first saw it live on El Rey Network and the talent that were on that series was cookin' on all cylinders and it was kickass
Angélico really was like "fuck my life, this is my chance to show the world how great of a wrestler I am" the whole season. He threw himself for entertainment. Props to him. I hope Ring of Honor gives him more time and opportunities.
That masked dude fighting Drago multiple times was AeroStar. They had abest of 7 series match, hence why they're competeing against each other a lot in the first season.
believe that "small dude" is Mascarita Sagrada a lucha libre legend also did watch it live when it was on tv and all i can say is it was a master class of stars rey mysterio mil mascaras prince puma mundo mac u name it they were on there it was so good i even discovered iveliese brian cage and angelico through this brand
I watched Lucha Underground as it happened. As amazing as the in ring action is, the storylines were top tier and a little over the top. People got killed off, mystical things, etc. Aztec Warfare is also the best match concept ever. Mil Muertes is "Mil Mascaras". Fair mistake lol. Little guy is Mascarita Segrada i think. Angelico is so much better than AEW would have you think. They didn't know what to do with him.
So, I had The El Rey because it had some crazy shows like a bad ass From Dusk till Dawn show. But then Lucha Underground dropped, and it was so refreshing I watched the first 2 seasons then let's say I went on an involuntary county enforced vacation and fell off. Subscribing now just for the memories.
Bro I was watching this weekly as it came out on the el rey network, in 2014 when this came out all i really knew was wwe style wrestling ( i started watching in 2011). So when this started playing on tv i was hooked instantly and dove into pro wrestling as a whole not just wwe, i went back and watched old tna old roh and a couple other older bigger at the time indie promotions and just feel in love with wrestling all over again. I was shocked that this went so under the radar, like the in ring work on this (2014-18) vs wwe in ring work over those years its so insanely different and even now wwe still is using stuff done 10 years ago from this show. It was the first legitimate true alternative to the wwe style of production in ring work, writing etc. WWE focused on live and real story, vs lucha which was post production TV show nothing was live ever and with the tv show almost movie quality production with the backstage stuff and the camera work watching the action and they writing was so different and good that it didnt matter that it was beyond the realm of real life in all the fictional things they did. They did so many things better than anyone else was doing at the time and kickstarted so many wrestlers careers in America. AEW would not exist without lucha underground period.
Blue Demon Jr. is a Mexican wrestler, and his father is a legend, their masks are blue with silver. BTW, Santos Escobar's real name here in Mexico was "El Hijo Del Fantasma" and his father was famous, too.
I remember watching it live and it was absurd at first because somehow pro wrestling enters the Indonesia territory after being banned, but holy shit. Lucha Underground, by far, is the closest rivalry to WWE. The characters, the storytelling, the cinematic camera angles, the whole production from the art to the lighting; everything is - I think - what inspires WWE to do almost the same thing right now. I know Lucha Underground ended not well with the legal dispute - hell, they let Ivelisse to wrestle with a legit leg injury for few matches - but besides that, Lucha Underground was what really missing from the WWE, which is excitement and surprises.
What I missed was one collection that had the reason Big Rick had an eyepatch: When he was turned on, one of his former lackeys put out a cigar in his eye.
Uhhhhh… his name is Big Ryck. Also, that’s Mil Muertes. Blue Demon Jr is the larger guy with the blue mask with silver around the mouth and eyes. I was in the crowd for Chelsea Green’s stint in LU as Reklusa.
lucha underground was underatted so much it was so good and the talent was amazing they should have done more in my opinion cause season 4 you could see the decline wich was sad but it was still amazing
did you know the AAA lucha libre ?? There is every Match 6 man tornado elimination match 🤯🤯 and every one is flying throu the air ..... absolut chaos 🤣
Also yes, this Sexy Star got blacklisted and now goes by Sexy Dulce, I believe. But since AAA owns the trademark of Sexy Star, the gimmick is being given to another wrestler; so there is still Sexy Star, just a different person.
I will forever wish that Tony Khan buys the rights to Lucha Underground and brings it back, not as a Aew Lucha Underground but as a simple… he buys it and has someone take care of it like Vampiro or even Konan. He has the wrestlers only thing is…..WWE Own the rights 😢
Lucha Underground had steal Cage Royal rumble Falls count anywhere I quit first blood money in the bank but in there Version just to give u some ideas of it
6:22 You can see the one and only Danny Trejo along with a friend checking out the Lucha Underground action. Betcha didn't know he was a wrestling fan, huh?
Lucha Underground was seriously underrated. They had an incredible roster and the moves were so mind blowing
Aren't they still going?
@@HistoryNerd8765 No, it fell alongside the El Rey network. A lot of people did move on to other promotions, though
You should watch wrestling society x... that was more OMG! even with explosions lol
the wacky world of Lucha Underground really offered something different than other organisations. Angelico's dive off the set altered my brain chemistry.
Blessed be our ramen born son. Best noodle boy.
The guy in the blue dragon mask is Drago
Angelico jumping from roof to inside the ring was the most insane thing I’ve seen because the distance and height he got was crazy!!!!!!!
Angelico, Son of Havoc & Ivelisse were the most funny Trio of the whole Lucha Underground Series
Yes, long live Team Get Along Shirt
One of the matches I remember from Lucha Underground was Rey vs Ricochet in 2017, The talent the roster had was top tier.
36:34 Those are legit tables unlike the ones you see in WWE. Lucha Underground was just different

Lucha underground was on tubi tv if your still looking for it
In America not anymore, but if you go you internet archive its there
And pluto tv
I used to watch lucha underground it was absolutely awesome 💯
Was lucky enough to make it to the temple to catch some iconic matches, including aztec warfare, and all night long. nothing beat the two hour drive getting hype with my mates, and finishing all sweaty from cheering and grabbing tacos and a mexican coke. There will truly never be anything quite like it.
I love lucha underground
Lucha underground was so good. I dont think it can ever be replicated. They had the perfect roster of wrestlers for this show.
Fenix vs Mil Muertes in a Grave Consequences Match did it for me. I’ve watched that match constantly because it was SO GOOD.
I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Lucha Underground show where they taped the 100th episode(9/13/17). The energy in the temple was absolutely electric. They had the roster and everything just needed that tv contract
LUCHA UNDERGROUND was on fire when I first saw it live on El Rey Network and the talent that were on that series was cookin' on all cylinders and it was kickass
That Angelico drop kick made me a fan of his for life. It's kind of a shame he never really got much of a chance in AEW.
I love hearing and watching Con impersonate Toma Tonga, You do it so well lol
Angélico really was like "fuck my life, this is my chance to show the world how great of a wrestler I am" the whole season. He threw himself for entertainment. Props to him. I hope Ring of Honor gives him more time and opportunities.
Me and my dad would watch this every week I miss Lucha underground
That was Mil Muertes aka El Mesias in AAA
Yes lucha brother is coming to WWE wrestling
That masked dude fighting Drago multiple times was AeroStar. They had abest of 7 series match, hence why they're competeing against each other a lot in the first season.
Best of 5, not 7.
@@r.f.switch5847 Thanks for the correction.

@@r.f.switch5847yeah lol funny how people don’t realize mascarita sagrada is el torito
Yessssss!!!!! Please do season 2
This was so good love lucha underground
Now that that's over, Where's season two?
Lucha Underground was so good. The wrestling was top tier and the stories were actually pretty well.
Yes
I watched Lucha Underground as it happened. As amazing as the in ring action is, the storylines were top tier and a little over the top. People got killed off, mystical things, etc.
Aztec Warfare is also the best match concept ever.
Mil Muertes is "Mil Mascaras". Fair mistake lol.

Lucha Underground was basically do as many flips as humanly possible for every episode😂

And to add that Matt Striker and Vampiro on commentary was one of the best duos of all time in pro wrestling
I remember watching this every Wednesday
Feels so weird seeing the old penta outfit
Also weird to see Mil's pinstripe pants after S3
Blue Demon Jr. is a Mexican wrestler, and his father is a legend, their masks are blue with silver. BTW, Santos Escobar's real name here in Mexico was "El Hijo Del Fantasma" and his father was famous, too.

No that's Drago with the Dragon Mask on
i miss this show, it's gonna be a decade since this was made
lucha underground i would love to be back so bad it was unique and cannot be replicated
the aztec warfare 20 or more person elimination match was the best thing they ever did and it end capped every season
The craziest part was that fenix back then was 21!!
Matt striker was great on commentary. Makes Booker T sound like P Diddy 😂
Angelico is my most favorite cuz of this company. Lucha Underground is awesome🔥
Uhhhhh… his name is Big Ryck. Also, that’s Mil Muertes. Blue Demon Jr is the larger guy with the blue mask with silver around the mouth and eyes.
I was in the crowd for Chelsea Green’s stint in LU as Reklusa.
His name is Big Ryck in THIS promotion. Most Wrestling fans would know him as Ezekiel Jackson from WWE/ECW
Angelicos in lucha underground and AAA is awesome. He is under used in AEW/ROH. He has so much potential
The way Ricochet/Prince Puma sells is always so extra, but it’s great.
holy hell Lucha Underground was special.
This reminds me how good Ricochet is.. Dude can be a main event star 🔥
Also yes Con, you should 100% start up Lucha Underground watchalongs again. Perhaps over on Pateron
LU was awesome!
React To Tna Bound For Glory 2009 Ultimate X Match
lucha underground was underatted so much it was so good and the talent was amazing they should have done more in my opinion cause season 4 you could see the decline wich was sad but it was still amazing
They found max level and said let's keep going.
15:30 unless my eyes are playing tricks I swear that gran metalik which would explain that rope maneuver to the outside
The guy you thought was rey about 1/3 in was aerostar
did you know the AAA lucha libre ?? There is every Match 6 man tornado elimination match 🤯🤯 and every one is flying throu the air ..... absolut chaos 🤣
Great reaction conman167

More ppl should know about lucha underground
@ 31:30 SoCal indy legend B-Boy with the Face Eraser
Put some respect on Mascarita Sagrada’s name.
No 😂
Heck yeah cause that's our bull El Trito
Oh, and also at 7:42, Trejo high-fives Prince Puma A.K.A. Ricochet.
What a great show. Wish they made the movie that they had planned. Would have been a cult classic
Starting at 3:56 Ivelisse actually saves Mascarita Sagrada
His name is Drago
18:44 for some reason it wasn’t in the video but his team betrayed him and then just opened his eye and put a lighting cigar in his eye
lucha underground makes me wanna be in Los Angeles
W vid
Son of Havoc is Matt Cross, from MLW
The "mini man" is Mascarita Sagrada, FKA El Torito in WWE
I will forever wish that Tony Khan buys the rights to Lucha Underground and brings it back, not as a Aew Lucha Underground but as a simple… he buys it and has someone take care of it like Vampiro or even Konan. He has the wrestlers only thing is…..WWE Own the rights 😢
Sad this is gone 😢
Fun fact mil mascaras is actually Judas meithias or however that’s spelled from Tna
This version of cage would be amazing in aew
You need to watch Pentagon dark vs Vampiro or Kill shot vs AR fox both are epic
More and more
If the lucha brothers ever got to WWE i feel like there just gonna have them in the mid card or not even use them to there full potential
Lucha Underground had steal Cage Royal rumble Falls count anywhere I quit first blood money in the bank but in there Version just to give u some ideas of it
