- Have you ever wondered whether it's possible to get a virus from BeamNG mods? I've been trying to find the answer to this question for a long time, but I've never found a definitive answer. In this video, I'll try to finally provide that answer. I would like to hear your thought as well to this topic.

TLDR and to stop people from getting scared and correcting some things; Yes its possible but its very very very very rare. Never run a random exe and you wont get a virus simple. BeamNG as far as I know cant do much of anything if a js file does not only do something in BeamNG. Now the msi file in that R32 mod is very strange. The mod has zero viruses (i know because I have the original mod and its fine) but yet has an msi file??? Regardless I will assume this was due to the fact you downloaded a leaked reupload of Flanje original R32 mod. Anyways you shouldn't ever get a virus if you know what you are doing (also use an anti virus) and if you know nothing about mods etc then stick to random BeamNG forums mods. I will also add the fact Virus Total IS NOT an efficient way to check for viruses in multiple things. Sometimes it can have false positives or it can be flat out wrong because it cant quite check everything. Virus total is imo best for only exes.

It's not so simple as not running exe files. Malicious code CAN be hidden in files that are not .exe. There has been cases of executable code in jpegs, for example. When it comes to game mods, they often have some sort of scripting going on that can also exploit some vulnerability and execute code with clearance it shouldn't be able to have. Especially since windows users often bypass UAC checks and just allow anything to execute without giving it much thought. I'm not saying people should be paranoid and stop using mods or whatever, just that malware aren't only found in suspicious executables and that will always be a risk when downloading files from the internet. When in doubt, stick with sources you trust.

That's why I always download mods most of the time on the beamng forum, I downloaded a Bugatti chiron, and with excellent gameplay and visual quality of the car

The only time I do not check the contents of a downloaded zip file is mods off the BeamNG forum that have a very large number of downloads
have we always found a mod that looks good with 5 stars and good reviews on modland or repository or whatever only for it to be a NO texture or have no engine?
i tried downloading a mod from modland and another tab popped up then Mcafee started spamming my notifications with lies trying to convince me to "renew my subscription".
That is why the repository/forums are a better place to download mods.
You can if the website contains viruses (embedded HTML and silent downloads etc) or sometimes if you have to install the mod using a .exe file.
In the beamng discord server they do NOT recommend modland. Someone types of mods from their let them access your steam library and from there they can do whatever they can do on your machine. I downloaded multiple charger srt mods from there. They were leaks and now my pc is infected and i have to reinstall windows (etc) dont do modland. U can get good mods from there but its really hard. Stay safe guys

I don't check the whole file,i search for the same mod on the whole internet (if it has 1 or 2 screens or it's not from veryfied creator)
I recognized the r32 mod, which i downloaded around 3 months ago i believe. The only thing it got me was a scareware/adware for mcafee. Nothing else that i am adware of. I just want to add that after that i downloaded an antivirus and did multiple scans, and I haven’t noticed anything unusual as of yet.
It looks like you accidentally enabled notifications on that website. Check out your browser extensions.
Only ever download mods from two sources:
-BeamNG repo
-BeamNG Forums.
That way, the chance of getting any sort of malware is nonexistant. Though, for offsite downloads on BeamNG forums, make sure you check the folder thoroughly.

Yeah bro i know in case like me i downloaded 13 free payant car mods from modland and didnt got virus but its very dangerous and specialy when its free payant ( leaked ) and i didnt use World of mods to download récent mods but to download very old car mods for nostalgia and Always check the comment section of the mod it saved me from 4 mods with malware inside ❤
I’ve downloaded quite a few car mods from BeamNG mods downloads are so far my computer has seemed perfectly fine but I’ve stopped using that now and I have switched to forums
In short, yes, It is possible to get a virus from a BeamNG mod, but the likely hood of you getting one from the BeamNG forums is incredibly slim, seeing all the files are closely checked, just be careful when you go to 3rd party sites for mods, I have gotten a trojan virus one time from it. im always suspicious when it comes to mods in AC and beaming but im just to lazy to check whats inside and I just hope for the best, I have been using mods in many games for a long time and havent got a virus yet
I remember seeing this video in my recommended tab and scoffed at it. I came by few weeks later to warn that a Disney employee has been hacked through a BeamNG workshop addon.
While rare, this type of situation happens more than people think so do be aware about that. (If you've been in the Garry's Mod community for a while you know what I mean.)

i check like 25% of the mods i download, buts thats just because only like 25% of the mods i download are not from the repository

forums and repository are safe as every file uploaded on the beamng website is closely checked by the developers

Hey blazerng i want to download a mod from kenemation mods and mod name is Toyota Camry v55 but the problem is that the mod is from 0.27 and has been updated 8 months ago is it ok if i still downloaded the mod besides it being 0.32 update.also will there be a texture problem in the mod because the mod is 0.27 update mod. Hello, I have this exact mod from him as well, there is only one small problem - some configs spawn without tires. But you can easily add them back. But I think the problem is on my side and one of my 430 mods is breaking the Toyota, but I'm not sure :D

To me kenemation take the mod from masternoob he also made a 2013 Toyota Camry and also had the same problem so to me kenemation stole the mod from masternoob and name the mod Toyota Camry v55

This has happened to me before:- i downloaded a nice looking mod from some website, after some days of playing beamng i got some kind of error and couldnt start my pc so i had to buy a new one cuz of that mod

idk, all the files are an exe but i havent had any issues so far, nothing on malwarebytes, nothing suspicious.

Remember, any real voice is better than an AI voice. Even if it's an 11 year old Timmy speaking. I'm sure a real voiceover would definitely add to the quality of your vids!

Can someone help me I have taken a break from beamng for a month when I come back I try to install a mod so I do the thing but when I get into the game everything’s fine but the mod is not there the only things that have changed are I have installed lspdfr and some mods is that why somebody help me please
It might be an outdated mod that is zipped incorrectly. If you open the zip file, is there a folder named "vehicles"?
I couldn’t find anything like that so I just deleted all the mods that I installed the day I took a break but it still isn’t working also when I try to install mods through the repository it goes until 20% then goes back down to 10% and gives me an error saying check my console and the mod unsubscribes itself
Come to think of it a couple days before I took a break I was looking for ford explorer mods and I went somewhere they said I needed another mod so I didn’t think of it and pressed download it didn’t show in my mods menu and it was from modland so I didn’t think of it and idk if it was that but if you think I may have a virus let me know and I will factory reset my computer for Microsoft defender to find the virus
@@DutchDooley1991 I would recommend you to download Malwarebytes and scan your computer just to be sure you don't have a virus in your PC. I'm not saying you have one, but you should scan your computer from time to time.
@@BlazerNG. I already tried but thanks I contacted beamng support team and they’re doing the best that they can I was looking at Reddit posts and other stuff and a lot of people get this glitch but they say once they update their beamng it goes away so idk but thanks for all the help
People should show this before making a tutorial on how to install mods
just make sure you are downloading from trustworthy sites and people. and always atleast scan it multiple times.

Do you have a PC with Windows running on it? Are you downloading something? Yes virus is probable.
I have Beamng and most games on a separate drive and partition, worked well so far for me.
On top I have a antivirus just because I got a nasty virus once and it was cheaper to have a antivirus than having to deal with a virus

i knew before i watched ur video that there is a chance to get a virus from beamng mods but i did not really take any extra steps to check my mods.
i was downloading and checking out some new mods just this morning and saw this sprinter on modland, but bc of the negativ reviews didnt download it.. now i know it was the right choice xd
what i can say, if u wanna download a car mod the first thing to do is look at the ratings and comments on it, look at how big the ZIP is and if that both seems fair and resonable i personally would donwload it. But once i have the ZIP i always check whats inside myself and only if im not suspicious right there i put it into the repo folder.
by now i have downloaded probably 150+ mods from ModLand i it seems like i was lucky to not get hit.
just be careful guys if things look too good to be true they are most of the times not good.
ps: i now checked all my 51 currently used mods and none of them are even a little bit sus. sooo YAY

Getting a virus from BeamNG Drive mod sites is quite rare. I've never encountered such a problem, but World of Mods is definitely the worst site out there since it has way too many pop-up ads. Avoid downloading stuff that purposefully looks like troll mods or has horrible ratings. What I would worry about are probably situations where someone might upload illegal content into a BeamNG mod. Maybe it can't damage your computer, but it could put you in danger. I heard Modland never verified any of the mods that got uploaded to the site until a horrible accident happened. Some psycho posted a tank mod in which you could find child photos... that bad kind, if you know what I mean.
I agree, WOM is the worst site for downloading mods. Yes, I heard something about it, but I couldn't find any information to verify it.
@@BlazerNG. I've tried my best to get any kind of valid proof regarding that incident, but no one has anything. I don't really know how someone could prove it, since the inside of the folder is literally a one-way ticket to troubles with the law for sure. Plus, I wouldn't consider this as a myth or a legend either. Modland puts more effort into verifying files and their content more than ever these days, but I do know people who purposefully upload troll or zip bomb mods that end up being verified on Modland. However, getting them verified is really tricky. So, I suppose Modland tries to avoid surprises sometimes, but it doesn't work most of the time. But hey, at least they're trying rather than doing absolutely nothing 🤣

I once got a virus from a Mercedes Actros mod from modfire. The link there I found from a TH-cam video and actually this mods fire mod did not even exist. The link sent me to a website that installed a virus on my computer. I started getting these fake pop up windows.

And Yes You CAN Get A Virus From BeamNG Mods. The Reason Is Mostly Because When You Add The .zip File To Mods BeamNG Will Unzip It For It To Work. There Is A Chance That BeamNG Is Still Installing The Virus Or Something And You Start Playing If The Mod Does NOT SHOW UP REMOVE IT ASAP.

Jo aha, tak potom nevím. :D Myslím, že jinak to ani nejde. Ale můžeš udělat to, že necháš spawnout normální traffic, a pak jen přepneš na dané vanilla auto, půjdeš do menu, zvolíš nějaký módovaný auto ručně a dáš "replace current".
