I lived in a southern city in Hunan. 7,500 a month. I didn't pay my rent or anything, the school did that. Food was around 10-15 Kuai a meal. School gave free meals but I usually just ate lunch at school. My phone bill was around 100 Kuai a month. Locals were paid 2000 Kuai a month so I was well off. I traveled a lot and China is definitely my home.
Hope you dont mind answering this but did you go through an agency. Im thinking of teaching in china but want to get the best possible value for my time.

Hello, can you please tell me what is the situation on pilots there, how are the salaries and is it possible for an European to find a job for himself as a pilot there?
This is a brilliant video. I was wondering the person who did the video knows any good institutions that I can inquire too? As I am thinking of teaching English in china.

Loved the video, just interviewed with English First recently, can you tell me how likely it is to get hired, or rather how difficult it is to get hired? I toko game design for my bachelor's, but I've always been very good with speaking and writing English, but I'm just so nervous and want to work here so much,,.
Hello The video was highly informative. As a matter of fact, by the end of this year I'll be holding a BA degree with one year of teaching experience. The thing is that I'm not a native English. Could it be possible for me to work in China, Japan, or Korea?
Hhhh white and black. This kind of thinking are really primitive. Who may consider the product of a human should be regarded to his/her skin color are really primitive and not educated at all.
Zakarya Hanafi Yeah, I know it's primitive, but considering that lots of Chinese(especially in rural area) haven't seen foreigners, it's normal that they think like that. I'm sixty-eight yrs old - if i went directly to china and went door to door to schools do you think i could get a job? i do have a univ degree, but no ESL certificate, and i did teach ESL in Beijing for a year way back in 1987 - so probably no records available of that. thanks
+Geoff Parker i think u would have your chance in those major cities in China, especially in Shen Zhen, where the foreign English teachers get the highest salary. And many people actually speak English in that city. I would try Shen Zhen if i were u, good luck.

Hi! :) I would like to ask a couple questions. I just finished my bachelor degree in teaching ESL and German as a second langauge. Despite this I am not certified by TOEFEL. I would like to know what city you would recommend for me to teach in (I am looking for a safe place) and I would love to hear your advice on how much I can ask for. Thank you very much for your answer :) Have a nice day!
Hello, thank you so much for this video. I wanted to ask you if teaching extra hours or getying a second job in your spare time is legal and acceptable? Im mainly talking about teaching and sales (customer service).
Great video! Do you think it's possible to get a good job offer(teaching English) in China if you're not a native speaker (which is my case)? However, my major is English, so I'm gonna get a degree.
+Marcos Domingos Hell no! if you are coming from the states thats roughly $614 american. Harbin is a destination for the winter time. so the prices will go higher. do you have a tefl or a degree? to be honest it is a very low wage. water bottled is like 6 rmb. And you need several of those a day.
oh, god how come they provide u so small payment...i hv to say 4000RMB is regular factory work's level thay they commonly get per month. but in Harbin, 4000 per month is peace..
So different than in Vietnam. Salary is much higher in Vietnam (when I was working at a private primary school I was making 60,000,000 vnd a month. Back then that was about 3000 usd. I worked about 20 hours a week) and very few teaching credentials needed (just have to be white), but no accommodations and very, very few schools help you with the work permit. So you end up spending a lot of money on visa runs to Thailand every 3-6 months. If you're a competent, independent person Vietnam is better imo. If you prefer security and long-term work then China. There are many Eastern Europeans teaching English in Vietnam.
Hellow. I want to come for study in China. I want to study business in china . I need information about scholarships, expenses, accomodation, climate culture etc Please share . Thanks
Food is no longer cheap in China as of 2015. Meat is very expensive and eating out is no longer a bargain, unfortunately. However, the food is always good and there is so much variety. Information on this video should be updated.
I think it is possible to get a job there as I've seen a German TH-camr who is teaching English in China. It just might be a little harder as they prefer people from English speaking countries. You may have to work in a smaller city for a year or so. This is just my understanding anyway. Hope this helps! :D
It actually would not be legal for you to get the Z visa. One of the requirements is that you have a passport from an English speaking country, and they even recently put restrictions on South African passports.
Mariela Pinto I am Mexican and currently in China. If you are white and have a collage degree, it should not be a problem. But based on your spelling, you might want to reconsider teaching English.
You can apply with your partner and be placed at the same school if you both have the required qualifications. Email us for more info: info@teach-english-in-china.co.uk
Hi, I'm currently in my first year, (going into second) at university. I know I have to graduate before I can go onto teaching English but do would I go about setting everything up? I'm a native English speaker but my course isn't teaching. I'd really appreciate any help as I don't want to be a crappy teacher who knows nothing aha I'd like to as best prepared as I can.
Hey there, I am a recruiter and I live in China. If you are an English native or non-native with a BA and clean criminal record, I can help you to get a job in China. Feel free to contact me if you have questions here or via we chat: belal2030
i make triple this and i'm not even in a tier 1 city/major area. Dont let them low ball you. Especially if you are a Native English Speaker. No 5 day a week native speaker should be taking in less than 13k a month, period. Maybe 12k if it was a location you really wanted and the housing was provided. Shoot for the sky, especially with Kindergartens/Primaries/Training schools
i have applied for a job in Wuhan with via my work in uk has work has a partnership with a school and my uk company is paying wages of 23k who will this work.
Hi! I was offered a work in china at Shenzen, Futain. They offered me a 14k rmb month salary. How much do you think i can spent in an apartment and still have money for food and every day consumables?
It depends on you. You can rent an apartment from 2K to 10K rmb per month. For 3K,it should be around 30m^2 in Shen Futian. Another 3K is totally enough for all other costs with a pretty good quality. So,most likely, the cost every month will be 6K.

Ted: you're not getting paid enough!!! I could get you a job in a heartbeat ...one that pays you far more than you are currently earning ... please tell me you are working at a public/government school with no more than 14 teaching hours a week ... please ....i really hate to see young people get taken advantage of and hooked into abusive long-term teaching contracts that don't do you justice ... ... actually if you were willing to work 25 teaching hours a week I would start negotiating at around 16,500 and depending on where you wanted to work (i.e. geographical location in terms big city small city) ... i would get you something from 12,500 to 16,500 (that's US dollars $2100 to $2800 per month ...

At a state school with weekends off that's a good first year salary. Higher salaries are available but usually at private school where you work weekends and evenings
I am a Chinese descendant. But I migrated to Sydney with my family since i was young 32 ys ago. I have Graduate Certificate and Grad Diploma in TESOL from university in Sydney and I also have a master degree in Social administration and other university quals. Would they accept me to teach there as an Asian-Australian? I have more than 10 years of experience teaching part time in technical colleges while working as an education manager for AUS Gov?
LOL...that is crazy. There are millions of Non Caucasians who grew up in English speaking countries and speak like the native people....I think that is the reason we dont see a lot of Asians doing your kind of teaching. I get paid x3 more here, but i want to have different overseas experience, hence the curiosity. Anyway, many tanks!....:-)
Bad news: they use foreign faces to advertise school because of parents, so if they already have a lot of those it won't be a problem. Good news: it would be easier for you to move up to administration if you spend extra time in exams..
Part-time work you said? It is becoming more and more difficult to do part-time work in China unless you do private lessons at home or in a Cafe. But if you work for another school, Kindergarten or Training Centre. You have to remember that your Employer goes to all the trouble, time and expense, to get you a Z-Work Visa. You are their teacher and employee solely. So they don't like you working at any other Training Centres, Kindergartens or Schools in your spare time. Giving those places added Publicity, promoting you are 'their teacher! ' This is also breaking your Working Visa regulations and you could get your Visa revoked and lose your job at the actual place you work. People talk and it's only a matter of time before you are found out, That's how it is. So doing some Private teaching work or on-line teaching work in your free time is probably acceptable and tolerated.
john doh Hi i am 52 . Qualified teacher, many years of teaching experience. Got a job without much effort at a private international school in Beijing. Love working here . No stress! Reasonably good salary. If you’re white person with a degree with some or perhaps no teaching experience, easily get a job in china!!!
A girl from China come to USA for a year she work for fun she spend her money on trip party living large she went back home broke I bet she regrets the shit
I speak mandarin fluently the main difficulties for these people will learning mandarin while teaching English this means your whole world is in English much harder than for a person that goes to China and and lives with chines home with Chinese emersion is very important just to perfect the tone so most English teachers simply will not become fluent it is about the worst job you can do if you want learn mandarin
i totally beg to differ.I ever lived in WuHan for 4 years ,as a student not only i can’t save money but also i need to ask my parents to get extra money.U know in school there are so many cheap food,so if u always have a dinner there,u do not need to cost too much. But Chinese students have kinds of activities ,they need to pay for their meals, drinks, movies, bars and so on.Most of them usually choose upscale restaurantsIts,so its your freedom to decide where you go.U have said it is easy to save money in WuHan,but actually its not.If u just satisfy a simple life, maybe u will save money by yourself. In my opinion western people all like to enjoy their lives, unfortunately u r not.
Hi Kiev, yes you need a degree. A TEFL certificate is also required but you don' t need to have it at the time you apply with us, you can do an online course teach-english-in-china.co.uk/resources/teaching-qualification/
We don' t deal with online teaching ourselves at the moment so we are not 100% sure. But as you don't need a visa the rules are likely to be less strict for online teaching

We've got lots of new ones, check out th-cam.com/users/Teachenglishinchinavideos

Hi. Can you provide any information on how teachers get taxed? What is the tax percentage in China for teachers?
+Amelia Pillay According to my contract, you simply take your monthly salary minus 4,800RMB then if remainder is no more than1,500 you pay 3% tax. 1,500-4,500 = 10% tax. 4,500 - 9,000 = 20% tax .... at least thats how my tax works. Tax comes out my pay before i receive it. Hope that helps

+Andrii Rudyk sure ,you can ,i am a recruiter can provide teaching position for native and non native, you can send me email379325686@qq.com

hey there! i was offered a job in Harbin, they'll be paying me 4000RMB. is it enough for rent food utilities and basic entertainment?
+Marcos Domingos Hell no! if you are coming from the states thats roughly $614 american. Harbin is a destination for the winter time. so the prices will go higher. do you have a tefl or a degree? to be honest it is a very low wage. water bottled is like 6 rmb. And you need several of those a day.
oh, god how come they provide u so small payment...i hv to say 4000RMB is regular factory work's level thay they commonly get per month. but in Harbin, 4000 per month is peace..
No don't go it's not enough
4000 is a pitance
In my university, school will provide the apartment for foreign teachers
Hogan Lee I'd like to know more.
That is common. What university are you affiliated with?
interesting vid breh
So different than in Vietnam. Salary is much higher in Vietnam (when I was working at a private primary school I was making 60,000,000 vnd a month. Back then that was about 3000 usd. I worked about 20 hours a week) and very few teaching credentials needed (just have to be white), but no accommodations and very, very few schools help you with the work permit. So you end up spending a lot of money on visa runs to Thailand every 3-6 months. If you're a competent, independent person Vietnam is better imo. If you prefer security and long-term work then China. There are many Eastern Europeans teaching English in Vietnam.
+BattousaiOfChaosⓋ do they hire you for short term like 3 months??
how about tax?
do you have to pay an income tax?
Hellow. I want to come for study in China. I want to study business in china
. I need information about scholarships, expenses, accomodation, climate culture etc
Please share . Thanks
Food is no longer cheap in China as of 2015. Meat is very expensive and eating out is no longer a bargain, unfortunately. However, the food is always good and there is so much variety. Information on this video should be updated.
im from Argentina but i am.a teacher of english here. do they discriminate if im not.from an english speaking country?
I think it is possible to get a job there as I've seen a German TH-camr who is teaching English in China. It just might be a little harder as they prefer people from English speaking countries. You may have to work in a smaller city for a year or so. This is just my understanding anyway. Hope this helps! :D
It actually would not be legal for you to get the Z visa. One of the requirements is that you have a passport from an English speaking country, and they even recently put restrictions on South African passports.
we do have visas, and cost like 10 dollars ar.chineseembassy.org/esp/lsyw/qzxx/t1072534.htm

Mariela Pinto I am Mexican and currently in China. If you are white and have a collage degree, it should not be a problem. But based on your spelling, you might want to reconsider teaching English.
how would i go about moving with my partner? i plan to teach but hes career is more enviromental. i cant find many videos about trailing spouces
@@belalsager9247 do u take people without a college or University degree??
for non native that is hard mate
you still in wuhann
i make triple this and i'm not even in a tier 1 city/major area. Dont let them low ball you. Especially if you are a Native English Speaker. No 5 day a week native speaker should be taking in less than 13k a month, period. Maybe 12k if it was a location you really wanted and the housing was provided. Shoot for the sky, especially with Kindergartens/Primaries/Training schools
hello,i am in wuhan too.
劉世勛 hey are you still there?
i have applied for a job in Wuhan with via my work in uk has work has a partnership with a school and my uk company is paying wages of 23k who will this work.
With only 6000RMB salary there is no way you can afford your own apartment/car in any city in China
+Victor Tian right, small city maybe
+Victor Tian His company paid for his apartment and meals

What education you required as a english teacher.
+MyJobInChina.com Hi, I am planning on going to China to teach English, can you send me an email so I can ask you more information?

Teach English In China I can imagine you all have a lot of hidden fees.
14,000 a month in Shanghai is absolute shit. Your school must be laughing all the way to the bank.
At a state school with weekends off that's a good first year salary. Higher salaries are available but usually at private school where you work weekends and evenings
can non native english speaker teach english?
I am a Chinese descendant. But I migrated to Sydney with my family since i was young 32 ys ago. I have Graduate Certificate and Grad Diploma in TESOL from university in Sydney and I also have a master degree in Social administration and other university quals. Would they accept me to teach there as an Asian-Australian? I have more than 10 years of experience teaching part time in technical colleges while working as an education manager for AUS Gov?
+Andrew Ang yea man, they would accept you. they accept individuals who are from Non-speaking countries. but of course they get way less.
Do you pay taxes to China or your home company through this program?
I don't think the food is cheap here.. I guess because I am poor 😂😂
The food thing was what hooked me. After reading this comment... Are you kidding??
ads are getting smarter
why are all the teachers young? do they hire "old " people?
john doh maybe.its harder to convince a more mature person to work for so little.
john doh Hi i am 52 . Qualified teacher, many years of teaching experience. Got a job without much effort at a private international school in Beijing. Love working here . No stress! Reasonably good salary. If you’re white person with a degree with some or perhaps no teaching experience, easily get a job in china!!!

it's like 800 dollars
the worst part is learning chinese... seems really hard
Do you have a degree to teach ?
Hi Kiev, yes you need a degree. A TEFL certificate is also required but you don' t need to have it at the time you apply with us, you can do an online course teach-english-in-china.co.uk/resources/teaching-qualification/
Teach English In China So I don't need a degree to teach online ?

We don' t deal with online teaching ourselves at the moment so we are not 100% sure. But as you don't need a visa the rules are likely to be less strict for online teaching
