- This video is all about some of the other ways of downshifting a vehicle (Double Clutch & Rev-Matching).
Any and all questions are welcome.
Hope you all enjoy! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
For anyone wondering why this causes much less wear on your transmission over single clutch down shifting, its the same reason normal upshifting causes significantly less wear. The synchros in transmissions are much better suited for going down to lower speeds. When you single clutch downshift, you may be matching your engine rotations with your clutch rotations, but you are not matching your synchro rotations with your your wheel rotations if that makes any sense. So blipping the throttle in neutral brings up your synchro rotations before you put it into lower gear causing less wear on your synchros.
Hope this helps!
Perfectly said!
yes i was wondering why not reving it up while the clutch is down, thanks for explaining!
Does that still apply to modern vehicles?
For the sake of completeness, it's worth mentioning that you can combine double clutch and heel-and-toe together. You can also double clutch upshifts if you want to be extra gentle on your transmission when upshifting.
I was wondering why he didn’t show it, it’s hard to get down but it’s fun haha
Perfect answer and the reason Colin hadn’t gone over this was he was not comfortable showing a double clutch-heel toe combination because he does not practice it and therefore didn’t feel confident in giving direction. But absolutely you are right there are multiple ways of adding this to you skill list.
@@sleephardcrewAbsolutely understandable! It's a very hard skill to master. I still mess it up if I'm even a little tired or distracted.
Great video and aesthetic as usual! Looking forward to more videos! :)
perfect example of the many ways manual cars can be driven, that's part of what makes them so fun. The control of the car, and being able to have the preference of which technique to use.
Getting good (or at least being able to recreate) these techniques brings me great joy, you feel more connected to the car and it even causes less wear.
Couldn't agree more!
Glad to hear!
This might me one of the greatest youtube channel I've found the last week of watching car vids. Really looking forward to years of content!
Welcome aboard!
Although the techniques are universal: I love seeing someone show the depth and maneuverability of FWD cars
love your videos, you've been helping me get so much better with my 08 mazdaspeed 3
love these videos so much
Same , they’re made so well. But also the title, thumbnail, logo.. are all very aesthetically appealing
Thank you for this information kept stalling my car which is kind of funny also that animation working on with a couple other people might take slightly longer than expected
Another great videos
Glad you like them!
The latter version is how he always done it. I try the other method and sometimes the car doesn’t want to go into get especially on the lower gears!
"no big deal"
Colin says it too much huh?😂
this looks like a lost "behind the scenes" footage of terminator 2 production, you look like edward furlong from the 90's
im trying to learn this and i have the same problem as your ranger where the brake is higher then the gas pedal and i found a way around it but i can never predict how much to compensate when i rev and always over rev or under rev, its it just practice and experimentation or is there a method to it?
Just practice because every car is so different
How did Colin get into learning how to build/rebuild cars?
A new series will release soon👀😁
@@sleephardcrew Cant wait
Why is double clutching easier on the transmission?
We just pinned a comment that explains far better than we did
