    One thing I’ve realised is that life will take care of you better than you ever thought you could. It’s paradoxical.
    But decisions just sort of come by themselves in their own time, if it’s a big life decision it will ripen and come into fruitition regardless of the thinking that goes around it. It’s like a force or an energy that sort of just movies and lives through this body. Life living itself. Haha it’s so wonderful. Just relax, life lives through you. Decisions will come by themselves!!

      This is so, so true! All the thinking that goes on around important decisions seems superfluous in the end, when the answer seems to arrive from somewhere else anyway, more of a felt knowing.

      It's an experience shared by many musicians/artists. I remember Jon Anderson of Yes saying that's how he wrote most of his lyrics, channeling something without even really trying to figure out intellectually what the words 'mean'. I've also watched a clip from an interview with Dylan the other day, and he said about his early songs, that writing them was as if some kind of 'magic' spoke through him and in his current age, he can't even fathom how it is that it was 'he' that supposedly wrote them. Neil Young, referencing that Dylan quote, said 'that's something you can never "own" - it comes and goes'.

    I absolutely love this pointer. The legs just move as I walk across the room. We get a taste of this each and every moment. Just watch your legs move as you walk. You're not telling yourself to move your legs. It just happens. It goes much deeper than this, but it's a great way to start noticing. 😊😊😮

      But if the legs are taking the body to a place that is dangerous to it, shouldn't this be corrected? Likewise, if a mind has been conditioned to think poisonous thoughts, wouldn't this mind benefit from seeking the opposite of these thoughts? Who becomes conscious of these bad habits and then seeks to correct them? Maybe just another thought. But letting the body-mind live on auto-pilot is not a good thing, in my experience.

    • @SimplyAlwaysAwake
      @SimplyAlwaysAwake  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SMZC it is corrected automatically. Do you have to relatedly think “don’t touch the burner, don’t touch the burner” when operating a stove? No you just don’t touch the burner.

    • @SMZC
      @SMZC ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SimplyAlwaysAwake In that example, yeah, you're right. But what about the problem of pleasure? The body-mind are naturally wired to seek pleasure, as much of it as possible. But it's clear that too much pleasure can have extremely destructive effects both to ourselves and others. A part of the mind is wired to continue seeking this pleasure despite said destruction. Other parts of the mind seek a solution to this. In this conflict of interests within the mind, a wide range of thoughts can appear, all offering their own solutions to the problem at hand. The way I see it, one has to invoke the highest aspects of the mind to find the best way out of this situation.
      To live in auto-pilot, in my experience, would simply mean the continuation of the seeking of pleasure, despite its consequences.

    @SimplyAlwaysAwake Great content as always! Does reflections on reality, i.e. the suffering caused by the doer, have any effect whatsoever on reality? It seems like it has to, no? As a simple example, worrying about something that is upcoming in the future vs worrying less about it (or not worrying at all), would impact our current actions and therefore alter the path of reality. i.e. a person may practice harder for an upcoming test, presentation, or race etc. as a direct result of the stress caused by the doer. Btw, I am not advocating keeping the doer (quite the contrary actually), but just trying to clarify this question that has been nagging me for a while...

    there is one thought which frqeuently comes up and "I" don´t know how to handle. How can you sure that this experience is not just happening in your brain? E.g. that it´s just a biochemical thing. Psychodelic drugs seem to introduce temporarily experiences like feeling oneness, ego death etc. It´s a serious question.... and maybe can never be anwsered without personal experience but I would ike to get your view on this.

    What are the implications of this? Is this meant merely for the practice of meditation/self-inquiry, or also something to live by in every moment of our lives?
    This is a subject that has been a big focus for me. I have experienced some of the value of putting choices and the sense of doer-ship aside, surrendering to an absolute acceptance of the present moment. But I have to say, I think doing only that is an act of throwing the baby with the bathwater.
    I have watched the activities of the body and mind, and I realize that they just happen on their own, without a "me" controlling them. But I consider these to be merely the conditionings that determine what our current auto-pilot is. This auto-pilot can be changed into pretty much anything else. If the thought "this is bad" ever appears in you automatically it's usually a good idea to explore where this thought comes from and to give it some freedom or space, but it's also good to remember that the opposite thought ("this is good") can also appear, and if given repeated moments of attention, it can become a new conditioning/auto-pilot.
    Who calls this opposite thought? Is there a "me" invoking it? I don't have the experience to answer that question one way or the other. Of course, the idea "I can invoke the opposite of a thought" is also just a thought, and not necessarily a doer, but I would say that it is a useful thought nonetheless. A thought that explores more fully the potential of the mind. Just as we wouldn't stop using our bodies to walk under the justification that we are always "here" and that there is no "there" to get to, it's not a good thing to neglect the potential of the mind.
    We are nothing, but we are also everything. It is good to remember that thoughts are nothing, just impermanent phenomena appearing in an infinite ocean of silence and harmony. But in my estimation, it is also good to remember that we are everything that appears and that can appear in that ocean. We are every thought, every opinion, every event, every way of being. Learning to invoke thoughts and their opposites can make us more open-minded and inclusive of those people that we may be tempted to think of as different than ourselves. It can also help us identify those thoughts that bring higher love and wisdom, peace and harmony, and to give more power to them than their counterparts (essentially turning those higher thoughts into a part of our auto-pilot).
    Also, in a more practical sense, I think it's a necessary part of living life. If you simply surrender every sense of control, in my experience what happens is that we simply let our lowest desires take charge of life. This is not to judge these desires, but it is my experience that a life full of indulgence will do nothing but add heavier and very confused material that will only cloud the silence and the harmony within.

    Jean Klein said that to believe you are the doer here is like a clown who shows up at the end of a ballet performance as the curtain is falling, and takes a bow to receive the applause from the audience. It seems pretty obvious that thoughts claiming to be the self are more like the brain’s after the fact “explainer” system(s) as opposed to a controller. But how to know if the self has actually been dropped or if it’s just another belief? It seems that only when there are no thoughts (as in a flow state), is the experience of no self unquestionable.

    What's uo bro? Here I am again with my endless questions, sorry (I will buy your book, I promise).
    You said something intriguing; "a reflection of reality can not control or influence reality".
    From a presonal perspective (Maya), I understand we are influenced by thoughts that arise in the form of habitual tendencies according to our karma (Vasanas, Samskaras). So there's no real free will there.
    However, I understand we do have the choice of identifying with these thoughs that arise, or to remain in stillness without givig them energy, thus, changing the outcome of a situation.
    That's not influencing "reality" in a certain way? Thanks!
