I appreciate the builders who over engineer stuff because someone is going to abuse it. Me I have more times than I can count have put to much key in for a second and adjusted keyed down. I don't adjust keyed anymore but always you have to adjust key and for a sec long as you aren't 100 watts out your ok. Maybe one day I will be able to get a z box but I wish you could run less. Miss high, low, med. Sometimes you just don't want or need full power.

I can't get my sb220 to do more than 1 kilo regardless of the drive. Volts drop on DC side too much but not on ac side. Brand new caps same thing. I'm going to try to replace the doubler diodes
It's not that. It's the supply. It's not beefy enough and if it still is as built, multi band I mean, you won't see much more than that. They improve on 10m after you monoband them. The weak point is still the supply.
@@MountainTopElectronics I mono banded it. Took out the entire band selection and all but 41/2 turns on the tank. Relocated the input inductor by the relay. Added an air variable to the old band selector switch spot. Stryker and texas 350hdv are very happy 1.1:1 on the input. Replaced the caps with 330uf 550v from digikey. Replaced transformer with 920ma 1300volt toroid external now. Reduced bias from harbach 6.8 to 4 ish. Ac voltage at idle 1340.......0ma DC voltage at idle 3770 Ac voltage at 0 signal 1238....250ma DC voltage at 0 signal 3186 Ac voltage at Talking 1162 .....420ma DC voltage at Talking. 2868 At 1162ac * 2 * 1.41 I should get 3276dc but I'm only getting 2868. It still may very well be a power supply issue. I'm new to these tube amps. Expected in 480 3 phase. Decided to try a new hobby. I appreciate the help

I'm not sure that you watched the video. It doesn't have 4000 volts on the plate. But I agree with you. 3,000 watts is not really useful out of two tubes. It's a 2kw amp, as always, people can do what they want and run them how they want.

@@electromechanicalstuff2602 try a different transformer and more bias. Push it closer to c. Try 18v of bias, try a supply that delivers 3300-3500v.
