How To cut your coax to nulls or coax tuning
มุมมอง 19Kปีที่แล้ว
Not a lengthy discussion here. You found this video because you want to cut your coax so the jumpers are invisible in your system. The same rules apply to longer lengths as well for instance if you wanted to cut a huge length to go to your antenna, just do the math to calculate it in a full wave, Simple, to the point, enjoy your how to...

How would this rack hold 2 different radio sizes.A Cobra 29 and Stryker are different width
awesome! I will Buy!
Nice! Thanx & 73 😃😮
It would be nice to see a version for vehicles?
Nice ! Thanks buddy
Excellent 👌
i nned to ask have you done any grid driven box with 4cx800 / gu74b tubes
THIS VIDEO IS FOR WIRE ANTENNA and IS NOT FOR COAX...or this is my mistake?
Great video if you want to make 1/4 or 1/2 wave elements for vertical arrays. Even easier than nanoVna. Remember to leave a little long for connector installation trimming. I try to measure the normal trimming of your PL259 solder connections and compensate for that as the last trim. Make a log of your trim lengths and how much it effected Freq. so you know what to make the last trim. K6RAD
How much $
I will be purchasing one of these in the next month or soo. Very clean layout. Can you led the meters?
I just found your channel and see you are using the GI-7B. Have you ever built a four or five tune GI-7-B amplifier?
Don't "solder" coax with a foam dielectric. Use a clamp or crimp style connector. If you solder the shield, you will melt the foam and the coax is no longer "50 ohms" by design.
Unless your RG-213 is using PTFE for a Dielectric, the V.F. isn't 69.5. If it is "normal" RG-213 and uses Nylon as a dielectric, it's V.F is 66%.
Yeah Guys, quit sweating the petty stuff, start petting the sweaty stuff!!!...🇺🇸🤠👍
Good thumbnail gain rating for the tube, roughly 10dB, and a touch more depending. I run a Henry 2KD Classic which is 2 3-500Z tubes in grounded grid and i get about 10dB. Closer to 11 or 12dB depending as i run it all over HF. But since an S unit is 6dB that extra 1 or 2 dB doesn't mean diddley in the real world.
High drive amp people......................................
Why you don't use rms to start, than go to pep 🤔
Does the GI 7B work on 11 meters?
YES!!!
PA0FRI gives superb 'tube re-activation' guidelines. HT isn't really needed. It's all about Preparing the tube for the HT by restoring a good vacuum. Stick the heater on for a while, like a few hours or a day. Cooling is Required ! Inside the tube there is a 'getter' chemical that Only works when it gets hot. Barium was often used, so avoid smashing old tubes and breathing the stuff (toxic). Typically the chemical is a solid next to (or on) the heater. Some tubes have it near the anode. When Hot, this chemical reacts with the few molecules of air left inside tube, converting them to Solids, which sucks the vacuum down harder. To test if it's working, short all the grids to the Anode and apply about 15V dc between anode and cathode. This makes the tube (any tube) a Diode. Watch the Current flowing - it will increase as the vacuum inside the tube gets back to a functioning level. Care must be taken to make sure the current does not exceed the tube/valve's maximum rating, which it Will if it works as a diode and the juice is available, even at 15V.
I should have said Any maximum rating. Usually the Screen or Grid has the lowest.
Do you have any of these left? Is it $1000 plus shipping? I’m interested. Thank you.
Very Nice piece of equipment! ~73s
Yeah, but how many watts does it do? 11111111111 auuuuuuuuuudioooooooo
I think you mean claudio
Very cool 😎 73
Very nice! Out of curiosity how did you learn to build amplifiers, formal instruction, mentor?
Im not being facetious when i say this but, people should read a book. The ARRL handbooks are incredible resources.
@@MountainTopElectronics +1 for the ARRL publications.
@MountainTopElectronics yes they are. I have a amp supply lk550 3 tube z box that's 160-10m. but it's getting the mono band deal shortly lol.
Very nice work 👍
That is really slick my man . I would like to have a tube tester for the 3-500Z
Fairly simple - rig up a 5V 20A PSU (ex-PC power supply, $1) and warm up the heater. Give it an hour or so then strap the grid to the anode. With an ammeter attached, hit it with 0-30V from a chinese bench psu and see what it conducts. If it's similar to a known 'good' one, you're (probably) good to go. It's just a triode after all, but watch for the total Power not exceeding about 15 W. The Grid will not be happy after 20W max. Full testing requires the High Voltage etc, but generally isn't needed for Amateur use.
Good evening, my dear friend, and I wish you success and prosperity Thank you for the wonderful and beautiful participation, and I wish you eternal happiness, God willing
There is merit to this. What about a multiband compromise say 10=-40 meters?
Isn’t this illegal?
You never say what bands this works for. Is it an 11m CB amplifier?
In my dreams...
What band is this tuned for?
Nice!. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Great looking amp!
Thanks for the simple explanation. Your method works great. I usually talk on some lower frequencies below 11m channel 1 so I implemented your advice when I made my next jumper but made it a little over 6' (6'-5") and it came out perfectly, in fact I was able to cover the entire 11m band up to 27.425 down below 26.865 and my SWR never went above 1:1.2. During my years in the radio game some have told me it doesn't matter and others have said differently but now I know it does. Thanks again, I'm off to make a few more jumpers.
Like to see the inside of amps more than the outside.
Very Nice 👍
I would love to see a video on a 4 tube build
I just bought a 4 tuber and I absolutely love it
Throw up a video!
Ac Sky Is The Best .Nothing Like it
Very nice!
I would love to have a 4 tuber ⚡️💥
thats a nice one..can you do a 3 tube in 1 unit or that has to be 2? I have a peter dahl 1.75 amp ccs xformer kicking around from my amp supply lk550.
Anything's possible. That would be a large box.
Looking forward to hearing about AC mobile options
Конденсатор разделительной made in USSR
Why would you want the coax resonant? It then tends to radiate making the coax part of the antenna Coax resonance is a bad thing
Coax won't radiate because it's half wave ,coax radiates because of an antenna imbalance
Seems he is tuning up with his exciter set on AM not SSB or CW?
