Here's my guess: Hero would latch onto and fixate on the fact that mari wasn't depressed after all. Sunny would omit details and make himself seem MORE guilty and expect to be yelled at.

And now that I know, I'm... relieved, I guess. Relieved, to know that it was just... a tragic accident. Nothing more." is probably how i imagine it'd go
I think youre right because everyone thinks she died by suicide, and suicide usually happens because theres something deeper going on. Do you know how awful it would be to rack your mind over and over thinking about what would have cause Mari to kill herself? Im sure thats why their parents split up because they both blamed each other for not figuring out something was wrong, when in reality nothing was wrong. Im sure Hero couldnt stop thinking about all the times he spent with her trying to find something that pointed to a reason why she would do this.
I was so confused during the sponsor at the intro, “What is this?” “is this omori?” until the end when it finally said “thank you for sponsoring this video.” and I realize I watched a whole sponsorship without skipping on accident.
Honestly the last sence makes the story so much harsher. The thought of Mari confessing to Hero, and he could never tell her how he felt back just makes his story darker and more understandable. Good mode. Liked the style and storytelling, even though it wasn't perfect. But they did a great work with their vision they had.

He isolated himself from the group on purpose. He doesn't feel worthy of love still. . . if it were canon. The mod probably just wanted it to seem like the toxic misinterpretation thats widely accepted by the fandom of " Sunny and Basil are traumatized because of each other, not with each other. " and they don't wanna hear about sunnflower.
I mean yeah, if I were his and Sunny's friend, I would have a good time of forgiving Sunny, because yeah he did killed my best friend, but it was an accident, and I can forgive that for a couple of months (like 6 - 7 months). But Basil, instead of calling the ambulance, he had to stage a suicide, and yes Sunny was part of it, but still I can see Sunny didn't want to do it and still forgive him. Basil on the other hand I would as well, but not after a year or 2.

I don't like how this mod doesn't address Basil at all, despite Mari's death being mostly his fault. I don't get why Sunny is getting all the blame.
Mari’s murder getting framed as a suicide is Basil’s fault. Mari’s death however is not. That was all Sunny.
