    interesting....
    I was doing this back in 2010 with PC runing RMLLabs SAC - software audio console and a laptop...
    Mixing infront of slipknot and Kill Switch Engage....using SSL Duende Native, Waves, TC, URS, Drum Triggers,
    CAB simulations , Aplitube, Tracks....plugins live with 1,5ms latency.

    My church currently uses the m7cl so I’m curious how much of an upgrade preamp wise this ended up being? I’m guessing fairly significant?

    How do you route your audio back to your individual channels? I have audio from my Avantis to Studio One. Recorded a practice, and when I hit virtual sound check button, all it did was play the final mix from Studio One. I couldn’t make any adjustments on console, although I could make adjustments within Studio One and it would reflect through my main monitors

    • @BenSalzmann
      @BenSalzmann  ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you're using Dante Virtual Soundcard on your host computer, and you have enough outputs available to route them back to the dante interface on the console. Within Studio One, you'll have to un-assign the main output from outputs 1-2, and then manually assign each channel to it's own output.

    Nice- can you share the pan settings? We use elec drums so just thinking how to pan properly the guitar, bass & keyboards. Thanks 🙏

    • @BenSalzmann
      @BenSalzmann  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I generally like to keep acoustic/bass/vocals down the center, and pan guitars as you see them on the stage. If you have two electrics, pan one to the left and one to the right. I usually pan the drumset as if I was standing in front of the kit. Keyboards I usually run stereo and just pan hard L/R.

    • @BenSalzmann

      I don't remember exactly, but it's the stock SMR verb plugin and I believe it was two different verbs a blend of a plate vocal and Hall 480 presets

    Hey Ben, i love the mix. Can you please tell, is it necessary to buy a Dante Card to record multitracks? Cant one just connect the PC with the Console over Network Cable and select the Console as the source ( input) in the DAW? As we do in Midas m32?

      No Any response? :-(

    • @luquann
      @luquann 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean if you're connecting the pc via ethernet it's gonna need a software like Dante to interpret that connection as an audio source but the alternative for multitracking is usually connectiong the pc via the USB B input on mixer boards. Hopefully that made sense

  • @jovanbryant5430

    Hey Ben, do you have a Dante card in your mixer? Have you test the monitor mix app at all with the console? My church is looking to this board and Behringer. I have used the Allen and Heath GLD80 so I am used to the layouts and screen workflow. Looking forward to any additional content you post.

    Ben, Will you explain how you did this for beginners in multi-tracking? What software did you record/playback the tracks with? You used Dante virtual sound card to do the routing. Will you elaborate on the process? Thanks. Matthew

    • @BenSalzmann
      @BenSalzmann  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using Reaper to record the tracks. The Avantis basically becomes an audio interface on the Dante network, so within reaper I can just map the tracks to separate outputs and then pick them up on the board as inputs. It's pretty easy!

    What reverb was used on vocals?

    • @BenSalzmann
      @BenSalzmann  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember the name of the default reverb processor.... but it was the "Hall 480" preset. blended with another processor running a more plate-sounding verb.

  • @Gauseltown

    Is this an E-Drum or a real drum set? Would be interesting how the bass drum sounds without any processing. I mean with the dynamic EQ, and the wild EQ and the Compressor you seem to take away all the sound of the real thing.

    • @BenSalzmann
      @BenSalzmann  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a 1972 Ludwig kit, the kick was mic'd with an Audix D6. Using the EQ/processing to help the drum cut through the mix. Never judge an EQ by how it looks :)
