It's actually saying Laurel, that's just fact. What weirds me out is when you tweak the audio to recreate the conditions causing people to hear Yanny, I hear YERRY.
The audio clip is saying laurel with some higher pitched sounds overlaid on top. If you're younger or have good hearing of high frequency sounds you'll tend to hear Yanny. If you don't hear high frequency sounds so well you'll hear laurel.

I've been told I'm very weird on this because I have recording headphones that have no audio sweetening, and I hear 'yarrel' almost every time... So am I just... balanced?
What you hear is dependent on if you are still capable of hearing higher frequencies. That’s why younger people are more likely to hear Yanny and older people whose hearing has been degraded over time are more likely to hear Laurel. Also depends on what your ear is focusing on some people can hear something different every time or a strange mix of them like you do.
Despite my comment being a little questioning, since I was I was diagnosed with synaesthesia, I've been taking audio tests along with my need for visual ones (I have terrible eyesight), and these do include testing which frequencies I can actually hear. For the last fifteen years I've consistently been able to detect frequencies above and below the average, including ones that are technically at the limits of what we're supposed to hear, such as bat sonar, deer scarers and so on. In normal playback, I do hear 'yarrel' on the test, but with only a little concentration I can hear either. The same way that you might see one of those optical illusions of a spinning girl and, with concentration, make her seem to spin clockwise or anti-clockwise. So yeah, the 'yanny/laurel' thing is kind of fascinating to watch reactions to ^^

If you have shitty tinny speakers like on a cell phone (or listen through a shitty tinny encoding like they put on this video) then you only hear the highs and it sounds like "yanny". If you play the original clip through high-quality speakers (and don't have some kind of low-frequency hearing loss) you'll hear "laurel". If you play it through shitty speakers/encoding and have high-frequency hearing loss then I guess you might hear "laurel" too? But the original is "laurel" and if you're capable of hearing it properly (through the encoding, speakers, and your ears) that's what it will sound like, even if you are young.
