Flat slab concrete floor system is similar to the flat plate system. The only exception is that the flat slab uses drop panels (thickened portions around the columns) to increase the nominal shear strength of the concrete at the critical section around the columns.

Does the drop panel thickness include the slab thickness as well? I.e 8" slab with a 12" drop, the drop extends 4" below the slab.
No. Total depth will be 20"

At the location of drop panel
Total thickness = Slab thickness + drop panel thickness

I was wrong.....
Only in manual calculations we take different values for drop separate and Slab separate....
BUT ETABS AND SAFE..... AT THE LOCATION... WHERE YOU PROVIDE DROP PANEL...
TOTAL THICKNESS =12 inch..

when i draw columns , the edge columns are not cutting automatically they are showing complete rectangular column with drop panel. what should i do?
First draw Slab... Then... Place column with Drop panel...

Tip 2: Provide openings at outside... Where you want to cut drop
