    I just discovered Maurice Ravel's "Miroirs M.43: lll. Une barque sur l'ocean" and it reminded me of this beauty :)
    What do you guys think?

    I have been waiting all my life for this moment. My feet will never feel the Earth again.
    I feel no sorrow.
    I am flying.
    Rest in peace, Harold. Your music is, was, and will be, my wings.

    I don't know why but the first feeling that came to mind when I heard this was being in kindergarten at recess or maybe it was gym class in Fort Drum New York..I was rolling down hills and we were all exploring through the woods. I don't remember if it was cold or warm out but it was sunny and dreamy. I never spoke to anyone really; I was a painfully quiet child so I don't remember having fun with anyone. But it was a fun time being myself as a youth those times. Being an adult now alone and looking back to when I was as alone as I could be as a 5 year old. Carefree adventuring..means something entirely different to me now that I can't fully articulate. This song nearly brought me to tears because even though I may not ever get to relive them I can listen to the things that can bring me back. Close enough ⭐🌻💫💙

    I just like to say how much you have been part of my life since 1988 when I walked into a record store in Kansas City mo and bought the white arcades just because of the cover not knowing what was in side and thru my journeys of ups and downs I still have a place in my heart for Harold budd and I still have the Original cassette case and tape even now as the world is reaching its end we have fond memories of this gift of talent , there are really no words to describe his touching music ❤

    Where is the 'like 1,000 times' button? This is one of the greatest Budd pieces I've ever heard! And I don't think I've ever heard any of his work performed on solo piano. I'm hearing shades of Debussy here, and so much else that I will have to listen to it endlessly to hear it all. Thank you so much for posting this!

    • @briaredpath9386
      @briaredpath9386 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Dirk Diggler Totally agree this is sublime ,there is a solo piano album called Perhaps but alot of it is more sombre and the La bella vista album is also solo on a steinway .but this is still the best.

      @briaredpath9386 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dirk Diggler I forgot the Akira rabelais album called The little glass which is virtually solo budd on the first disc and the most evocative ,nostalgic,haunting,subtle experimental reworking of fragments of the solo budd pieces its really superb. you can hear it on the Akiras bandcamp page.

      I recommend listening The Pearl (1984) with Brian Eno: one of the perfect balance between Budd's melodies and Eno's ambient: a peacefull masterpiece! (and one year later another thinking masterwork by Eno: Thursday Afternoon).

    This song is actually called “The Kiss” by Harold Budd. I think this is a live version but I’m not sure if it is called “Agua”. The Kiss sounds almost similar but sounds like a studio version without the background noise.

      It sounds like his own “ Variations on a theme from ‘The Kiss’,” type arrangement I was thrilled to see his music used as the soundtrack for HBO’s Emmy winning adaptation of “I Know This Much is True,” by Wally Lamb. There will never be another Harold Budd. Ever.

    • @jackmace6531
      @jackmace6531 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fact that you actually brought up the idea of flashy fast skills just means that you actually find this to be a flaw in harold budds work personally yourself. That’s a you problem. Meanwhile the rest of us are over here just enjoying the music without feeling the need to bring anything external into it. Now THATS ego
