Im a 33 year old grown man and i still jam to this after all these years this brings back those feelings of angst. Its a funny feeling watching the songs we loved as contemporary become pieces of our history.
Gasping for air, choking on my indecision. Hide me in my room and forget me. I'm sorry, if you want to know the truth. This is me against the world. Is my mother happy? is my father proud? Hide me in my room, but forgive me.
this makes me want to cry. when he sings "this is me against the world" theres something in his voice that just makes me want to cry in the most beautiful way
this song man! it gets me, it just gets me, i wanna lay down and cry and just be held, i wish this didn't exist. Its way to perfect, i mean the way he sits there playing, barely singing is so powerful its amazing
I can’t wait to learn this rendition of Yoke. Picked up guitar last month and still struggling, but this one shouldn’t be hard. Thanks Energies for the sesh ‼️‼️
I've had this version on repeat for the past few days, performed. I just love hearing the sadness in his voice and thinking about how much the lyrics probably mean to him, and to the band. It's also the blank expression on his face whilst playing it that got to me, all I can see is sadness. I don't know whether or not he really was, but it really adds to the atmosphere of the performance and helps me feel as though they're performing just for me. Basically, this is my sad song.
It breaks my heart to see such talented musicians calling it quits. I'm crying as I type this. I Wish I Could Stay Here got me through the death of a family member, and a really miserable summer. I'll forever owe these guys. R.I.P Basement.
this was perfect. Sad to see it come to a hiatus right after releasing a tremendous album but it makes me feel nice that they all are pursuing their other goals and I hope when they reunite, that they will have accomplished those goals. Would make it that much sweeter.
I saw them the 19th and it was literally everything. They sound better than the record live & the encore they played this song. Most amazing thing I've ever heard in my life.
Hell fucking yeah. I'm so stoked you were able to get these guys to do a session before they split. I'm glad I got to see them a couple times.. They are gonna be missed :(
I hope they do well whatever they choose to do. All good things come to an end, but luckily a few other members of the band are involved in some of their own musical projects such as the "November Group", a few other members are a part of "Strange Places".
Andrew looks so sad in this video but this version is so beautiful. It broke my heart that they are on hiatus now. Only saw them once in front of a fucked up crowd of 5 people but their show was rad anyway.
Basement were one of THE best bands to grace the ears of people who got to listen to it, "Illuminati" had nothing to do with their break-up or the music they made. It came from living life and the everyday struggle.
I don't know if it's true but someone told me they'll be back, Bishop wanted to become a teacher after he does they could be back. Although I could be wrong idk. I'm hoping they'll be back.
After years I keep coming back to listen to this beautiful version.
Fucking same
Fact
Yupppp
Same, it takes me back to old, simpler times
Me toooo
Basement, in a basement.
Haha yesss

Afraid yall mistaken, vox from the original over this acoustic play, would be the one
Gasping for air, choking on my indecision.
Hide me in my room and forget me.
I'm sorry, if you want to know the truth.
This is me against the world.
Is my mother happy? is my father proud?
Hide me in my room, but forgive me.
After so many years, it still hits me in my core. You grow past the darkness but you never forget it entirely. Real art
It's been 11 years... every now & then I still come back to listen to this classic :')
this makes me want to cry. when he sings "this is me against the world" theres something in his voice that just makes me want to cry in the most beautiful way
This is deep man, I mean, sitting on the stairs next to those decrepit walls. Facing opposite ways. Damn.
Umad?
how are they facing opposite ways you clown, one of them is just sitting behind the other haha
Max Ferrugia I still understand his perspective. Guess i'm a clown too.
An acoustic LP would be the best. Including this song in it.
2020 and I'm still here
this song man! it gets me, it just gets me, i wanna lay down and cry and just be held, i wish this didn't exist. Its way to perfect, i mean the way he sits there playing, barely singing is so powerful its amazing
Gilbert Bate-Charlton second this
Currently learning this song on guitar. This song means so much to me.

There isn’t a song which describes existence better…. I’m grateful someone feels the same, keep on trucking friends!
AND NOW THEYRE BACK TOGETHER

This is the best acoustic of any song I’ve ever heard.
I can’t wait to learn this rendition of Yoke. Picked up guitar last month and still struggling, but this one shouldn’t be hard. Thanks Energies for the sesh ‼️‼️

Beautiful!
It's so awesome that you recorded the only time they'll ever play one of their songs on acoustic guitars man you just made history
Can't believe they are coming to Budapest...For such a cheap price !!
