What is a biopsy like for cancer? (Kidney Cancer - Liver & Kidney Biopsy)

  • What is a biopsy like? I know when I was first diagnosed I was anxious & worried about my biopsy. I was worried about pain, the idea of cancer or tumor seeding from the biopsy (biopsy seeding) which turned out to be something I didn’t need to worry about.
So I wanted to share a bit a bit about my experience with a both a kidney & liver biopsy. I also touch on a complication I had during my biopsy to help provide insight on what happens if things don’t always go according to plan.

Katie, as a former cancer patient, I would have given anything to have someone like you.
Keep the videos as long as needed to deliver your information. This is knowledge and experience, not entertainment. You are doing a wonderful service for kidney cancer patients. There are not that many cases, so except for Dr. Google, patients have no one with first hand experience with all the questions they have.
Doctors don’t really tell about invasive tests, saying it’s a bit uncomfortable, when it is terrible. Thank you and sending positive vibes to you to get into remission.

Your videos are perfect. Don’t change a thing. Hugs to you young lady. You will never know how you have educated and helped with the anxiety of other victims and their families. Prayers to you and your husband.

My mother underwent a partial nephrectomy a decade ago to remove a stage II tumor. The procedure lasted approximately five hours, and remarkably, she was discharged after just one night in the hospital. Since then, she has diligently undergone multiple follow-up tests, all of which have shown no signs of cancer recurrence. She has been in remission for a decade now, a testament to her strength and the effectiveness of her treatment. Despite the seriousness of her diagnosis, she never experienced significant pain post-surgery. In fact, her cancer was discovered incidentally when she went to the ER for abdominal pain. My mother considers herself fortunate, and rightfully so. Today, she is cancer-free and enjoying her retirement to the fullest.

Monday morning quarterback. WishI had a biopsy prior to surgery. It might have saved me from having a radical nephrectomy. Thanks for your courage and information. We all have our unique journeys. Blessings to you and your family.

Thank you so much for making these videos. So much info I need that they don’t tell you. They found a tumor on my right kidney a few days ago doing a CT For another reason. I go in for my MRI tomorrow.
Good to hear your from my home state. Lived most my life around St George and Manti.
    I’m in Idaho now.
    Thank you.
    God bless

Hi Katie - Firstly and most importantly, I am so thankful that you made it through such a scary experience. I am filled with gratitude. With how horrid you were feeling, it was a blessing that you kept telling the Nurses you weren't feeling well and never gave up until you were heard. I can only imagine how much you were straggling. I am in awe that you were able to tell the doctor about the pain in your shoulder. You were so brave throughout a scary and uncertain moment. Bravo to you! My heart is filled with compassion for all you endured. Thank you for taking the time to share your different biopsies. I have no doubt you have brought reassurance to others that may have been riddled with anxiety and fear. So thoughtful of you. You are a beautiful soul with a tender and kind heart. Hugs and love from Canada. P.s. You are doing great with your videos. This is your story to share! 🦋👼🕯✨️🙏💙

My Urologist said that a biopsy is pointless. But I end up having a partial kidney removed. Long story short it turned out to be a rare form of cancer. The size was about 2.4 cm thankfully it’s gone. I’m glad you’re doing ok.
