this was one of my mom's favorite shows. me and my dad had a different taste in sitcoms. the only two shows that we liked as a family was all in the family and Samford and Son. both my parents are dead and I would be happy to sit down with them one more time and watch everyone of 1970s sitcoms. 90 percent of time when I bring my parents up I talk like they are still alive.

I'm a big fan, I Met him multiple times in Manhattan. I would always say good morning DT Fish and give him a Salute he would raise his hand and humbly give a small wave. He was by far my favorite character in the show.

Abe was only 51 when he played Tessio in THE GODFATHER, but looked more like he was 71. That's what started the "Is Abe Vegoda Dead Yet?" stories, contests, websites, and spoofs, including self-spoofs. "Tell Mike it was only business. I always liked him."

He played a cop in a movie from around 1950.
Maybe not a cop but definitely recognized it was Abe Vigoda and looked at the credits after to confirm.
I can't remember the name but would watch it again if I see it.

I can’t tell you anybody that acted on Barney Miller….. except Abe Vigoda as Fish. It’s really weird, but Abe is only one of a few actors I can remember on TV at that time except
Susanne Summers, but that’s probably because I saw her ‘spread’ in Playboy.

If I'm not mistaken someone involved with that show created Night Court, a good show I have fun memories of.

Looking back on the TV series Fish and then seeing where Different Strokes went after its debut it seems like Todd Bridges missed the mark at playing an endearing kid and got overshadowed by Gary Coleman who later did instead! On fish he played an angry city street child and the jokes got predictable after a while!
