Even 80s was the time when soothing music was composed by legendary music directors and was sung by legendary singers like Kishore da, mohd Aziz, Shabbir Kumar, Amit Kumar, suresh Wadekar, Nitin Mukesh and for me those were goden era with meaningful lyrics and composition which are even today also heart touching.

I remember his interview in the 90's where he openly said A R Rehman is not a good music director. He said "Ek baar Gaya, par baat bani nahi. Main phir se nahi gayunga.". He also said bad things abt Rehman. Even he said I ask Alka why do you sing his songs when you also don't like singing to his songs. I was a big Kumar Sanu fan then, and that interview stayed with me coz I genuinely loved A R Rehman too and I wanted Sanu ji to sing for him. I knew Sanu ji was wrong then, you can't blame and degrade a new and different music director. But I am glad now he regrets not having sung for A R Rehman. May be Rehman music didn't suit him. Look how Udit Narayan became such a big hit with Rehman, because he solely believed in singing and taking new challenges. But I would have liked songs like Ae Ajnabi, Taal, etc to be sung by Sanuji..
