Lots of questions going into the offseason. Great show!! If this team is far out of 1st place next year, we could see a massive sell off at the Allstar break.
Most people forget Addison Russell had a 26 HR 92 RBI 2016 season as was one heck if tje main reasons for the Cubs to reach. Also a rotation which incluede Lester, Arrieta and Hendricks in their prime, alongside a fiery John Lackey. A veteran as Zobrist. Not was all about Baez Ruzzo and Bryant. Schwarber, among all of those youngsters, has shown was the best one. When was the last time Cubs had a 100 rbi player? In 2016 there were two and Russell had 92.
Yep, Russell was big in the postseason, two big HRs in LA and a GS in game 6. But he couldn't stop beating up women. If the Cubs want him back he's playing in the Mexican league.
Gentlemen Ant and Mic Thanks for taking us through the season Let’s not make a silk purse from a sow’s ear Cubs were a good team this year Good not great Baseball is a game that changes when the sun sets and rises Thank you both for a great sport cast year Love my Cubs Best to you both 2025 here we come!!!!!!!
@@plus790 so you are saying that wisdom and Mastro and smyly were beneficial in that chase for that last wildcat spot? Besides that they were not competing for that spot very long. These moves could’ve been made two weeks ago.
Just remember that Ross had a mostly healthy roster and a slugging Morel in the lineup. I prefer Busch to Morel, so that's a wash, but the health issues this team suffered would have tanked the team completely if Ross was still "managing". 😂
I will keep Tauchman as he is cheap, excellent 4th outfielder, pinch hits deep in counts an has some power. Alcantara is being shown to be open up for trades.
I don't care who goes and who stays, I just want another ring and sustained playoff appearances. I want to be excited about my team playing in the post-season, not them sitting on the couch like me, watching other teams (from smaller markets) play for a ring.
I love Nico, but I think he will be traded for a really good reliever to make room for Shaw at 2B. I know they would be losing a lot defensively, but gaining a lot of offensive upside with Shaw. I can also see them possibly signing Santander to give them some lefty pop, but I could also see Caissie winning that job in RF and providing that pop. As far as Belli goes, my gut tells me that he'll opt out. I believe he's looking for longer term security in a contract not to mention he's a Scott Boras client. Scott Boras' hubris won't allow Belli to opt in because he 'knows' that he can get him a longer term contract.
I just like that we have our chance to have “our Cub version” of a promising taller, lanky explosive style athlete like a Elly DeLa Cruz. I think he’s going to find that power and I think he’s going to be a better hitter than Morel at comparable younger ages.
Vizcaino is playing overseas last I checked. So Alcantara is all they've got for Rizzo at this point. Also I think Shaw is the only guy that is untouchable. Shaw in my eyes is the closest thing to a sure thing for a prospect. He has way less holes in his game in comparison to the other top prospects.
With all due respect Mick.. the Cubs just need to figure out their fire power first before pitching.. their pitching (starting rotation) is fine and hadn't been for Hendricks ERA this rotation would've been top 3 in baseball. Justin Steele only won 5-6 games even though he pitched like an "ACE" because he didn't get run support. I believe Steele could've won atleast 10-12 games this season which would've placed the CUBS at 89-90 wins. Regarding Burnes.. there are other options that would make this rotation top 2-3 in baseball.. Severino, Manaea, Eovaldi, Flaherty, Snell, etc.. could also be options that would put this rotation over the TOP.
They have to get a big time run producer that scares people, not another bat who comes up over 200x w men on base and drives in 65-73 runs while Cub podcasters misquote the wrong stats and way overvalue many of the Cub hitters on this team, most of whom wilted and hid again in May and June who are now padding their stats..
And keep in mind that even w all the terrible at-bats and groundouts to 2nd, J-Hey drove in 60-62 runs during his prime 4 year period w the Cub... So, there's not much special about what the Cub bats are doing, despite what we're being told... 'Nice players' is the only description that applies, not run producers
Suzuki was signed 3 years ago when no one knows how those young players will do by just got them. You need someone that can play MLB, otherwise Cubs will be like this year Whitesox and you think fans will happy???? Happ signed extension till 26 two years ago also young players are far from graduate. That’s 26 is when the Cubs think those young players will show if they are good or not! YET , most of us want Cubs to be in playoffs every year when they decided to do a total rebuild, not retool. They got rid of all their star players for the rebuild which is totally correct. And you want the Cubs to compete in playoffs just two years out of rebuild! Ridiculous expectations ! Those expectations will make management do dumb things! And Cubs are not Yankees Mets Dodgers have endless money to overcome bad decisions!!
Nah mastrobuoni is underrated I agree he’s not the best player in the world, but a guy who has a name like that you want him to be on your team If a guy that goes by the name of mastrobuoni is not playing then I don’t wanna watch baseball

Assad is not a starter.he is a bullpen pitcher.if I was Ricketts, I would let go hoyer on Monday and bring in Sam fuld to figure out all this mess.with all the prospects ready and contracts blocking them,it shows right there that jed hoyer is clueless.its time for a change moving forward. Even though David Ross made some bonehead moves, three things are evident to his credit....1_he had these guys playing excellent defense..2_they played hard for him and 3...it is not his fault that this team failed..it is the players that jed hoyer put together that failed him.i am honest to take back all my criticism of ross..he actually made the best lemonade with the lemons he was given.
Thanks for the show guys! LET'S GO CUBS!!! ⚾️ ✌️💙🐻
Lots of questions going into the offseason. Great show!!
If this team is far out of 1st place next year, we could see a massive sell off at the Allstar break.
After Schwabs left, Nico is my favorite Cub. He is the Cubs Charlie Hustle and is one of the best second baseman in the league.

I really think in 2 years if the CUBS bring up the the guys and play all year, we could be in the mix of the 90 + wins. Youth movement !
How bout Jaguar playing alongside cheetah,' PCA'?
Anthony: Mick, great to have you on!
Mick: Hey Anthony, thanks for having me on my own show!
Sorry guys, I was in the hospital but will go back with thumbs up for the past 2 weeks. Next year!
Excellent point regarding this roster. It's construction was exposed and we all know the rest.
I’m not sure why Wisdom, Mastrobouni and Smyly weren’t all DFA’d in early September. They don’t figure into ‘25 plans.
Front office negligence
In *early* September, the Cubs still had a chance of making the post-season.
@@plus790 so you are saying that wisdom and Mastro and smyly were beneficial in that chase for that last wildcat spot? Besides that they were not competing for that spot very long. These moves could’ve been made two weeks ago.
I was confused on why Canario wasn’t pulled up since he has already been up? Either way happy for Kevin.

True... but Ross did have a healthy Alzolay amd Merryweather.
@@AndrewCalhounSongswhich buries Ross even deeper. Cubs would have won the division in a landslide if CC had those two performances this season. ❤

Not sure why Hoyer waited until 4 games left in season to bring him up

should've brought up Caissie

It's unlikely that he ever plays a full season in Cubbie blue, but I agree with your assessment of his potential. 🎶Go Cubs Go 🎶
