As a YZ250X owner this is such a treat! Thank you! I was stoked when I heard you were going to be riding a Yamaha and wondered what bike it would be. YZ250X! So many people are so excited about this!
GYTR parts will be such a awesome video when they give you all the stuff they are working on right now. Just like you did in first ride , go over every part you added and changed . You will help every guy who wants a pro set up and reel tips from CW. Yamaha sles will blow up this year plus every one will be buying used yz 250s because of you. With Fly wheel and hitlist, plus reeds fixed. Can't wait to hear you ride this beast. Yamaha needs to get ELi and John to ride this for trainning rides.. hahaaa. He is your neighbor now. Thank you for such a indepth garage build with Gator.....This is just what every one wanted..
YZ250 is amazing. I bought a new 2006 YZ250V, in '06. Just sold it in 2024. Simplicity that works. Those bikes are so familiar to me. Cool to see you guys new to the platform.
I gotta admit that I was really shocked when you switched switched to the "blue crew" from the other "blue" machine. However I was stoked as well because I think it is sooooo far overdue for the Japanese bikes to get involved seriously in the hard enduro & endurocross formats. I hope Suzuki & Kawasaki jump back in the 2 stroke bandwagon!!
I'm watching you in the snow in Saguenay/Lac St-Jean, you have a dream team. I have a standard 2022 YZ 250 and a 1995 WRZ 250 in hibernation, I'll take them out in April. Give me a few gas strokes, the winter is long. Happy New Year 2025 to you and yours and the Yamaha guys who watched. Salut! Québec, Canada.
Not sure how you are going to mix and match all the after market parts to obtain the improved low end and power curve you need. The only after market part I ever bought to improve low end power was an APEX Head with their XC Dome insert. They provide updated carb jetting recommendations that I found were spot on from sea level to 10,000+ feet. Made an amazing improvement on low end power. I and many riders sure would love to see Yamaha build an all new ground up modern 300cc 2-stroke Hard Enduro model bike. Hope their experience working with you encourages Yamaha to do so. Best of luck.
Cody if you are reading this. The BEST way to get the bottom end on this bike is the Rekluse Torq Drive Clutch. While expensive, I got more bottom end from that clutch than with a head and pipe. Also, the power valve mod (removing washer) as documented here on youTube works AMAZING. I had a 20 YZ250X and a KTM300XC and with the Torq drive, Gnarly pipe, high comp head, and PV mod, the bottom end was MORE than my 300, while still retaining the amazing YZ top end. Oh and also toss that GYTR flywheel, it takes away too MUCH.
Awesome start looking forward to more, I think you really have started a buzz about these bikes, I hear people talking about them in different riding groups. just need an Estart.
Hitlis is easy to install with the cyl on and less work.. BTW your going to love it... Replace the trees with 22.5mm offset ones you will thank me 1000 times. They made me so much faster in the hard rocky ST ....
-Use Maxima Waterproof Grease for the steering head /bearings --the oem water/dust seal let's water into bearings , even rain/especially power washing -put a rag over steering head when rinsing bike
I have a new 23' and I'm pretty much done with engine mods. On the Hitlis woods setup I shimmed the governor at .10, you know how greasy Hawaii gets. I get a little more low-end lag and the spool up is a bit tamer. Apex head, rad valve, 12 oz fww, gnarly and 2.1 silencer. The gnarly gives a little bump to the bottom end. For me, this setup is much more manageable in slick conditions.
Looking good men nothing better than an organized rotary bike build. Can’t wait to see the outcome. Now that you’re a blue crew guy how about getting us a few Yamaha 4 stroke trials bikes in the states I’ve been asking for a few years after seeing videos out of Japan they look good plus than we can get Pat on one lol
Ive been saying that yamaha 2 strokes are where its at since like 2010. Despite no major updates for a long time, the difference between ktm is like 10%. The hydraulic clutch & electric start are the 2 most noticeable aspects. However imo, those issues dont necessarily slow you down. The cable clutch is great, hydraulic just feels a little smoother. Kick starting isnt usually hard unless the bike goes upside down & gets flooded. The carburetor can be an issue but if its clean & jetted properly, youll have no problems. Any difference in power is negligible, the power curve is different with less bottom end. As for suspension, i truly prefer it over ktm. You may want to upgrade certain areas of the bike, but its cheaper to buy.
I had no issue at all with cable clutch for 95% of riding. I will probably end up with the Brembo conversion for that 5% of the races... But if I was a regular harescramble or GNCC racer, it would never be a concern for me. Huge majority of riders won't be finding themselves in the sticky situations I love to get myself into haha
Laughing about how few wires a YZ has. I have ridden YZ250’s bikes since the mid 70’s and just bought my first 2024 TE300. I laughed when I saw the endless amount of wires and gear on it. But I do like that button.
I really hope Yamaha pics up some of this... I ride a fx but would love a eat oem x model..... they would sell so many more 250x models if they just added a E-Start., So may things they could to to that bike to make it better.
Brows my mind whenever I’ve opened up a new YZ how little grease is in the suspension bearings front to back! First thing you do to a new Yamaha.. grease the bearings!
@@jonsainsbury8726 what does that have to do with Yamaha putting a cap full of grease in their new bike bearings? You can power wash your bike and avoid your suspension anyway.
I could never get my Magura Hymec to work as well as the cable system. Ran it for 4 hrs and went back to cable. Always felt like the clutch was dragging a bit with the magura.
This is awesome.what are you gonna do carb wise?the kehin is awesome but have you thought about talking to stic and see if they will hook you up with some metering blocks.great video
Also I have to say the reason I bought the 2022 YZ250X was I thought it could be the last Japanese carbureted 2 stroke. Ok well the 2023 YZ250X was only slightly updated and that’s a good thing! Some people want the simplicity and consistency with Yamaha reliability.
Is it now Yamaha evovles to 300 2strokes and electric start, with fuel injection.. Would be great for me as a weekend warrior not worrying about tuning the carb and just ride. Smooth and strong :) (No a dont want a fantic)
That magura hydraulic clutch is unreliable for Enduro. The vent hole on the slave will eventually suck in some dirty water and wipe out the slave and you'll lose all pressure. I went through four of them before giving up.
@codywebb2 Yep, I figured you're still learning, there's so much to think about when putting videos together! As long as you're releasing videos I'll be watching them, you'll get your recording/editing process figured out as you go 😉
😮 Keep that thing out of your workshop👶 I enjoyed watching her play with the kickstand, but if she pulls the bike over onto herself you're not going to post that😢 Exactly😂
Keep these videos coming ! And yes, I think you will change mindsets everywhere, especially since KTM is scaring everyone .

Can't wait for your Hitlis review.. GREAT info!
Excited for your thoughts on hitlis. Literally everyone is watching
You are doing the YZ250 trail riders a great service! Thank you for sharing this information!
This is the content we need

Super cool to watch this process... thanks for bringing us along on the journey!
Awesome seeing Gator out in Colorado working on the builds. Shout out from the guys in Ohio
Love my X! Looking forward to this
You bastard, you got 3 YZ250X's! I'm so jealous. Enjoy!

Hey Jeff where do you live and what riding do you do?
The HITLIS system he put on will solve the linear powerband issue. Mix that with a full pipe, head, reeds, etc and that thing will lug pleanty
Will Yamaha ever update the YZX transmission to decently spaced enduro gears and make it 6 speed?
Come on Yamaha!
The apex heads are a game changer. I’ve ridden a yz125x with one. It lugged shockingly well
Excited to see reviews on the parts

My guy Gator - Southern Ohio in the house!

Looking forward to this series gonna be interesting🤔
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one with an insanely tight steering stem nut
I had a huge breaker bar to get it free. I couldn't believe it
Now that's a clean shop!!!

Will you set them all up the same initially or keep some differences so you can tell what is working best?
Brows my mind whenever I’ve opened up a new YZ how little grease is in the suspension bearings front to back! First thing you do to a new Yamaha.. grease the bearings!
Honestly I think all brands are like this. My new KTM had basically 0 grease on the shock linkage
@ interesting. I should take the back end off my Crf and see how new Hondas are doing!
Don't power wash your bike...
@@jonsainsbury8726 what does that have to do with Yamaha putting a cap full of grease in their new bike bearings? You can power wash your bike and avoid your suspension anyway.
Do you like what the hitlis did to the power? How would it compare to a euro 300? Hopefully you make a video about it.

Try an Apex cylinder head! Best part I’ve ever put on a YZ.
I see you got the magura hydro clutch but I thought you had a different one that was a complete hydraulic setup all the way down to the push rod?
Also I have to say the reason I bought the 2022 YZ250X was I thought it could be the last Japanese carbureted 2 stroke. Ok well the 2023 YZ250X was only slightly updated and that’s a good thing! Some people want the simplicity and consistency with Yamaha reliability.

you need some low foot peg mounts Cody
Get the ESR 325 big bore kit and lectron carb.
When is the 300 cc coming out with e start? Will buy one the next day😮😅
Sick 🤟
Is it now Yamaha evovles to 300 2strokes and electric start, with fuel injection..
Would be great for me as a weekend warrior not worrying about tuning the carb and just ride.

Any plans for a cylinder head?
Ride Shop boingers?
KTM baby

thanks for the note.... I may throw a dab of silicon there to keep this from happening. That oring they had seemed pretty pathetic. Not a bad move
@ I think you need that breather hole or you'll be fighting air pressure or vacuum on the air side of the piston
@@gtluke4939 of course you do… haha. Guess after every wash or mud race. That cover will be coming off haha
Using the mic left/right audio channels is useful for editing, but please separate them and convert them to mono when you do your edit :-)
I’m still learning. Had some technical issues. I’m a newb at this. I ride bikes haha. I’ll get it figured out I promise
@codywebb2 Yep, I figured you're still learning, there's so much to think about when putting videos together! As long as you're releasing videos I'll be watching them, you'll get your recording/editing process figured out as you go 😉
Yamaha stop fooling around and get in the game with a 300cc.
Geezuz, is he 6'5" ?
6'3" haha
YAMAHA, hey, you need to make equivalent of 2018 xc300 or a company like gpx is going to take all those sales. I’m sure you know.
😇🤪😂🤩🤣💙
Gater, quit using your hand as a hammer......🤦♂️
it toughens you up
Please please please lock tight your magura internal cylinder.
If magura didn't recognize your name on the order idk what to say. Talk about dropping the ball.
I bought it through online retailer
Adding Electric start?
😮 Keep that thing out of your workshop👶 I enjoyed watching her play with the kickstand, but if she pulls the bike over onto herself you're not going to post that😢 Exactly😂
I appreciate the comment and I see your point. But you went dark and depressing with it.
Yamaha gonna break riding that hard enduro! Prepare for epic fails with the Yam!
Love your feedback. This is literally the most reliable bike I've ever ridden haha
