Yup, cancer, or actually any sickness that comes along, flips your world and causes you to look at things so differently. Sounds so cliche, but it really does open your eyes in a whole new way. Give yourself some grace and time to figure things out, just don't stop trying. One day, one hour, one minute, one second at a time. You will get it!!!

A very beautiful and introspective video. Asking yourself "what is the goal"? is a great question to ask. It's okay if you don't have everything figured out. Who does? Maybe the journey itself is the only goal. Maybe take 24-48 hours to yourself weekly or monthly and just do absolutely "nothing". That will probably be your greatest challenge, but it may be necessary so that you don't burn out.
Loved the old school dash cam footage! Being Australian it was nice to see what you guys see on your roads, the types of scenery, even just being on the "wrong" side of the road. It's always good to be cautious about surgery, especially surgery that requires a general anaesthetic. I've had so many surgeries that it's kind of old hat now but I still remind myself that every surgery comes with risks. Definitely not 50/50 though, especially you being fit and healthy (as far as I know)

I think when you get a little older say 45 it is then you take a step back and think about just what is important to you in your life, I started following Linnea originally, but there are things you talked about in this video today, that made me understand you in a better light so to say, you don’t have to give up everything , but there comes a point in your life you say to yourself what am I doing all this for, find that balance, because I think Linnea already has found her balance, so she and care all of you

Anesthesia messes woth my whole system. I've had two surguries as an adult and both times, my whole nervous system has been haywire for at least a month afterwards. Coming out of it disoriented is SO SCARY. I have no idea why people pay for drugs that do that, but I hated it! Also, being faced with your own mortality is huge.. it's heart warming that you're sharing this stuff as you're going through it too, so thank you. In a different life with different life circumstances, I am the you who loves the hustle, loves work so much that it isn't "work/life" balance, its "life/life" balance. Don’t beat yourself up if you love it. Just make sure the basics that are not your work (self care, relationships etc) are taken care of, then spend as much time as you want playing the game that you love. I was in the field of medicine my whole career, and only ever had one surgery…..but I, too, was kinda anxious about going under anesthesia. Because people DO die from reactions from anesthesia. It is a risk, minor, but still a risk…..so I understand exactly what you were feeling. Good to see you vlogging again. See you next time
It's been a long time since I commented, so I just want to say hello. You've come a long way since Zep 1, hiding from the campus police, and traveling to Alaska. I'm sorry for you and your family member. Illness sucks, and I know all about it. My wife was ill for twenty years before she passed 16 years ago. I was always working hard as well, and when you're wired that way, it's hard to break for me time. God Bless you Chris!

Chris, I am pushing 70 and had bypass surgery I smoke a cigar every day and my friends say should you be smoking not only do I do that I drink every day I don't care we live to try and enjoy if I live to be 100 great if I don't I will die happy living my life the way I want to.
