I was GUTTED when they lost to Belgium so unfairly. Then 2 years later, they had a real chance but blew it in the Euro final against Holland. 1990 was, I think a step too far for them. Despite having players still in their prime, I think the belief was ebbing away. They had even dropped their famous CCCP shirts for some reason. Belanov was omitted from the squad and a few of the newer players were below par. They truly are one of the greatest teams to have never won a major tournament.
The mighty Magyars are by far the best team to never win a major trophy and also the ussr won the first ever European championship great team they had in the 80s though must of been a pleasure to watch

It's all thanks to Ukrainian people that there were so many sports and military achievements/inventions during Soviet Union era. People commonly refer to Russia as Soviets... Ukraine made Soviet union great and so advanced (even during ww2 Ukrainian squads were the once to push through German lines and take Berlin all the way from moscow...). This right here is another example, almost the entire team was Ukrainian.

Shouldn't have needed it. The referee was looking directly at it from about 2-3 metres away. But we're talking about a country that's achieved almost nothing without some form of cheating, dishonety, etc, so what do you expect?
