Worst thing you can do is urbanize wildlife with human food or selfishly calling them to you for selfies. You remove their fear of man which often equals a death sentence for some of them. But some people just can't help themselves. Looking forward to your next one. Cheers. 👍

Oh Slim you brought back a funny memory of me tying up my tail pipe with my Mothers Macrame that she had been working in in the back seat while we were on our way to see my sister in Toronto.❤️🇨🇦
Add a yoga mat to the kit...makes crawling around on the gravel much more gentle. I use mine in conjunction with the folded tarp. I sure admire your work and appreciate the effort you put in to bring me along with you.
Another great video, Slim! I love how you handle the challenges of boondocking with humor and grace. You are an inspiration to all of us who love nature and travel. 👍
Thanks for taking us along Slim. I love all that you have to show in your videos and your wit and humor! The storm portion was awesome , I love looking at the clouds and seeing shapes , things , people and animals in them, also the same for rock formations.
Slim, thoroughly loved this video👍👍👍 You have a way of drawing interest into nature, and I put myself right there. Thank you so much! What a Pleasure to watch!! 👍🤓

Currently camped at this very spot. Goats came by a couple days ago, it was great. Have seen several turkey and more deer than we can count. Would love to see that fox! Warm and very windy today, hoping for a clear day for the eclipse. Thanks for the video, you helped us decide to give this area a try.
Really enjoyed this video. And you are definitely stirring up my desire to hook up my Aliner and explore Texas. Your filming and narration are at a professional level! Reminds me of another Canadian narrator I always enjoyed. Lorne Greene! Safe Travels!!
Hello from San Antonio, TX! Love your latest videos driving through Texas, especially the ones at South Padre and Lake Amistad. I've been bass fishing that lake since 1998 when my brother in law moved there. I love that part of Texas, 2nd to my favorite place at the coast, Port Mansfield, TX. You were near Port Mansfield. I leave my small RV in Port Mansfield at an RV park from mid May through August. I fish in Port Mansfield all summer long. Can't wait to see your next Texas video. Safe travels!
I enjoy our channel so much because it's not the boring same old, same old activity--how many mountain does one needs to climb, how many rocks need I see the climber climb--with your channel there is a good variety to keep things interesting, from the simple to the more complicated, from the unexpected to the planned agenda--and isn't life like that, a mix variety of many different events! Yes, it is and thank you for your sincere sharing. Best of the best to ya!
Nice video. I appreciate seeing the area there. My husband and I camped there several times many years ago when we would go out to the Big Bend area. We never saw any goats but have seen fox and coyotes and a couple really big rattlesnakes. Be careful !
My spur 406 story. Great choice. You feel like your on a private South West Texas ranch remote camping Vs the reality of 15 min from downtown Del Rio. In late Feb and Mar the Wisconsin Snowbirds start to show up at the Spur. Here is why: the warmth. I recall being at that very camp spot next to the freshly built vaulted toilet 1995 the first week of Jan. I was freezing at daybreak in my tent/cot for the temp had fallen to 29 F. The sun came up and started to heat the tent then by 10:30 am it was 95 inside the tent. I was sweating! The southern sun will warm the coldest morning in a hurry in SW Texas. Also you can swim there. I noticed the lake is down by 45 ft which makes the water more "cloudy." As a rule you just walk down the the spur road until you are in chest deep water. The best swimming is "$10/night governors landing" next to the bridges. The water is more clear due to the rocky terrain at that point, and the canyons are steep making for deep water. I have seen visibility underwater at 50 ft in April. The other advantage of this camp sight are the commanding views of the lake and the sun set over the RR Bridge and lake which is about 150 ft deep when the lake is full. Remind the Northerns who visit us: how fast weather can change here. I recall driving from the Del Rio sector to Cloudcroft/ Sierra Blanca peak in a snow storm. I counted over 200 "not-heads" and their autos in the ditches. Most were around the Tex/NM state line which is Carlsbad/Hobbs. Well I will close with how is the heater working. That subject lead me to watch a couple of your videos in the past. Enjoyed those and your recent videos of my home.
Hi Slim! Nice area to travel in. Up her in NH we are experiencing warm weather but a snow storm to follow. I remember in your last video seeing that tail pipe hanging a bit low. A good shop should be able to heat it up and hammer it back to round saving you a replacement pipe. And a hanger is pretty cheap. Love the cheap meal. I made up some bacon wrapped hotdogs the other day. Man those were salty good! Safe travels! -Jon
Wonderful Photo's. the only kind you get at a travel info center - here you get in real life.. Funny how I'm viewing your trip from episode 7 backwards to episode 1. Glad to see you are safe.
Slim... outstanding video! What a piece of art. Your videography and narration was perfection. You have incredible talent. Thanks for the cooking idea for a bean burrito. My Mom, God rest her soul, used to sing The Streets of Loredo when doing housework. So calming. I knew she was happy when she sang. I do it now too! And I spy a young cowboy and his name is Slim!
Love the scenic view the mountains, the Sun,the goats, the sound of nature...goats are Amazing climbers to watch...great job on the tailpipe...that burrito looked yummy without the catsup...give me some salsa ,and im good..Thanks for the awesome video ...
All my cars have a couple "universal tailpipe hangers' in them. Most folks call them wire coat hangers 😅 That rebar wire is also in there, just too handy for everything. I even fixed a broken leaf srpring with a roll of it and vice-grips once; got me to where I could do a proper fix 😎 Texas storms can be beautiful and intense so checking radar and warnings online is advisable. You also need to be aware to not set up in a wash, as flash floods in desert environs can come faster than you can get away. Can't wait to see where you're headed next and glad I'm not downwind of you after the cheap burrito 🤣 Safe Travels and enjoy life 👍
It's great seeing you chilling out on a slightly chilly day. I hope you enjoy a bowl of stew with chili in it. Yum! I love thunderstorm! As long as there is no big hail, or tornadoes they are fine.
Slim- I think you showed a great shot of constellation with Beetlejuice. That spot would be great to see it explode. Although you might not want to actually be there at the time.
Came through that area heading west 4 years ago and was surprised of the high desert environment. Drove through a white out snow storm for a couple hours pulling my trailer. Had to decide to turn around or push on. It was the scariest time for me ever pulling. I got to the little town of Alpine for the night and temperatures had dropped to 20°f and there was 6” of fresh snow. I was happy to be in the RV park with electric. Lol. Headed on to Big Bend after that then back north to the other National Parks in NM and Texas. If you haven’t been to Roswell, NM it was interesting quick visit. And try White Sands NM too.
Took my daughter there for a spring break trip by default. All the beaches had rain, we drove away from the rain, ended up Iat lake amistad- it means friendship
Looks like your little trailer needs some aluminum diamond plate gravel guards on the lower front corners. Once the gel-coat is penetrated, the glass resin will degrade due water intrusion and the capillary effect and create a soft spot which can spread. I have repaired many a boat with that type of damage and seen it on fiberglass trailers on the roofs where penetrations from mountings or vents are present. As an alternative, a heavy/thick self adhesive vinyl or butyl rubber or a spray on gravel guard coating could be used. I also noticed when you were repairing the exhaust, that your truck doesn't have gravel/rock/mud guards, something your trailer could benefit from and could use, too.. I'm a weather geek, so thanks for the cloud pics.
