Being born and bred in Nottingham, I agree with what you said. The city by UK standards is relatively big - city population 330,000 which is very small but including Greater Nottingham shoots it up to 800,000. Nottingham city centre has many amazing restaurants and bars that you can go to. Ye Ole Trip to Jerusalem pub is right opposite where my former college used to be. Nottingham Castle is really good and you will see some views from up there. What I would like to add is that this city is a renowned University city with a huge student population, has some amazing parks like Wollaton Park, Highfields Park which is around the Nottingham University Campus, Victoria Embankment along the River Trent. Plus it is known for shopping and nightlife. I agree that Nottingham, like any other major cities in the UK, have quite a bit of crime in certain areas around the city but it is pretty safe

Like you - my favourites places were not the touristy places, but rather the ones that we stopped in enroute or because it was a logical place to stop for the day. So much of travel memories are related to those moments of surprise, meeting great people or a sense of discovery.

Seems like a great place to visit. And so fun for Corban.

It was 100% a Corban place but we all loved it so much too :) It's so nice to know that he will have a Greta place to live (and for us to visit) when he reaches his dream one day :)

We rented a car and drove it up the M1 Highway, very easy highway even on the Left side of the road :) The UK would break up the trip nicely :) We've only had layovers in Turkey but would love to take a trip there... let us know what you think and if you find any 'must sees' :)

@@paulasanford1228 I've been to Turkey 3 times myself (Istanbul, Bursa, Cappadocia, Izmir, Antalya including the waterfall you are talking about, Troy, Ephesus, Kusadasi, Marmaris and Bodrum) and I hope the Blue Mosque construction will be completed when you visit there. I have travelled to over 30-odd countries myself, born and bred in Nottingham, worked and lived in London for 10 years and currently back in my home city. You can rent a car as the vlogger said which is a direct M1 Motorway (or Highway) route taking over 2 hours to get there although probably more expensive but the best option is take the train from London St Pancras train station which is connected with many London Underground lines (if you are staying in London) and do it as a day trip - the train journey is definitely less than 2 hours and it will take you to the Nottingham city centre where many of the sites are located
