Tim Gunn has been a refreshing gem in the fashion industry. He possesses unique refinement and practical sophistication without snobbery, erudition without facade and experience without condescension.

I love Tim Gunn. I would watch him open mail, he's that entertaining.
Sad that the audio for this is low and at the end, we cannot hear the questions.

The interviewer should give lessons to Oprah about how to conduct an interview...let the guest speak and tell their story! Budd was great and so was Tim.

in 2006 i was living in Paris & my main educational goal was to attend the Parson's fashion school there. i was stunned at the shitty state of it all, and now hearing Tim talk about how poorly the Institute was faring in NY, let alone the Paris satellite school, makes me feel so much better about deciding that it wasn't a great opportunity at the time. i really hope it's changed since then. all love to to Tim!

I put Tim Gunn with all the other amazing people who change the world, sometimes in small ways, sometimes in large ways, through the power of love: Mr. Rogers, Bob Ross, Dolly Parton, Jim Henson, Bill Nye, Stan Lee, Steve Irwin, Paul McCartney, Carl Sagan, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Julie Andrews, Angela Lansbury, Andy Griffith, Nichelle Nichols (who I was lucky enough to get to meet!), Bill Watterson, Captain Kangaroo, Charles Schultz. So many more, but I’ll stop. With all the negativity in the world, stop and think of these people once in a while.

I wish they had either given the questioners in the audience a microphone or repeated the questions. The responses would have greatly benefitted from the context of hearing the entire question clearly articulated.

So his and heidi’s new amazon show is doing what they originally wanted to do with project runway and have other people making the clothes.

That's great; I haven't caught the show yet, but I love the idea. Designers of course have to know how to put clothing together, but the thing I disliked most about Project Runway was the designers' rising stress levels as they tried to finish sewing, then the judges basing their decisions largely on whose outfit had been crafted the most competently.
"The idea was great, so innovative. This zipper is crooked and the hem is unfinished; let's send this designer home!"

I totally disagree with everyone on the winner of season 8. ANDY SOUTH's collection was the most luxurious, expensive looking, elegant, sophisticated and feminine collection and also exhibited the best fabrics and technical difficulty. His collection is the definition of "Haute couture". His clothes enhanced the beauty and femininity of all the models. His textiles were Exquisite! Elegant! He should have won. Furthermore, he comes from absolutely nothing! A plywood house with a dirt yard yet his taste is sophisticated and high. The criticism that it was too Asian was disturbingand in poor taste! I could have easily compaired Monroe's clothing to designer Mackenzie Childs furniture collection for Neiman Marcus. The patterns and colors are identical. Mondo's collection is fun but wouldn't be worn by an elegant sophisticated woman who wanted to feel beautiful! The
Granola girl Gretchen's collection would be wonderful to where on a road trip in a jeep or traveling because it was light and comfortable. I'm so offended and I'm certainly not Asian. How could this poor young man's clothing be treated this way? By this true who couldn't wear it to work?

Tons of people GIVE fashion advice. This is who the experts TAKE fashion advice from. Maybe you should follow their lead, because it sounds like you're saying you are more qualified to do so than he is - remind me again why Dottie Curran isn't a household name? Smh

Fashion concists of a huge amount of styles and time periods and Tim is a classicist. That doesn't mean that he has no knowledge or appreciation for modern fashion, but that he has chosen this style for himself - and it fits his personality. It's not only about what you like but also about what you fit. :)
