A Matching Dining Table

  • After building the set of dining chairs, I needed to build a matching trestle table for my client. I knew I wanted to incorporate accent details such as Walnut plugs and pillowed wedged mortise and tenons. I also wanted to incorporate some gentle curves to the dining table that are seen throughout the dining chairs. While I did not incorporate aspects of cloud lifts in the table design, I wanted those subtleties to translate well to the dining table itself. This is how I went about building a matching dining table to complete this set.

    Hi from NC. You should really make more videos. Actually, you should really consider a woodworking show something like wood whisperer. This is maybe the finest woodworking I’ve seen. Great job man!

    Such a wonderfully organized video. I'm starting to appreciate the use of a pantorouter to quickly create mortises and tenons. I also appreciate that you add your own accent for the table top to match the chairs. Love how you use and make so many templates. all very interesting to watch. Thanks for sharing !!

    Outstanding video and terrific build! A really beautiful, heirloom project with so many nice touches. I appreciate seeing your craftsmanship in your shop and your explanations of sound engineering principles applied in the design and build. It’s also classy of you to acknowledge others who you’ve borrowed ideas from to enhance your project. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi! I found you through the podcast you do with Guy. What a great channel! Wonderful build. I love the Greene and Greene inspired details on the chair and are heading over to that video next :D What I really liked about the table is that you made the dowels functional, not just ornamental.
    I know from the podcast that you use a lot of Festool tools. Is there any spesific reason why you use the Makita plunge saw over the TS 55?
    I see its been a while since your last video. Hope you and your family are well and safe. Cheers.

    Awesome build, with that pantorouter, do you even need a handheld mortiser like a domino XL? Maybe for smaller joinery?

    • @AlabamaWoodworker
      @AlabamaWoodworker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely consider selling these templates/profiles. I'll be setting something up on my website in the very near future. I'm in the process acquiring a CNC and will likely be batching out templates that will be for sale. Stay tuned.

    Obviously the finished table and chairs are superb. But what I really appreciate is you taking the time to show us the way you go about building the accuracy into the finished pieces by the use of custom templates. The video editing with your style of narrating also adds to the whole package. Thank you for showing how this all comes together. Cheers Ian
