The Beck and the Wilco albums were the highlight of '02. 🧡 I forgot all about those Tori album, I will revisit that one. hard to believe these albums are 20+ years old. 😵 Fithen's description on the Grammy's "music for the aroma therapy people". 🤣😂 i like the norah jones though. good mellow music.
I don’t have a lot of stuff from’02. And All That Could Have Been by Nine Inch Nails, 21 Singles by Jesus and Mary Chain, Release by Pet Shop Boys, The Execution of All Things by Rilo Kiley, and Stars: The Best Of 1992-2002 by The Cranberries. There was also a second album of the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.
I liked Brainwashed too. I wouldn't say it's George's BEST album, but it's certainly one of them. (Btw, my favorite George album is Cloud Nine, and I like Brainwashed even more than All Things Must Pass. There, I said it. Ha) I'm not a major Simpsons fan but I did see that rock fantasy camp episode. I remember the ads and promotion for it too. Was a year or two after The Who appeared on the show as well. The Rising is a good album, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it one of Bruce's best, though I've heard and read a lot of other people saying it is. Was certainly a big deal at the time since it was Bruce's first with the E Street Band in a long time and of course his 9/11 response album too. Let's just say I'm more aligned with Craig on the Flaming Lips. Sorry, Robert. Ha. Maybe I'd change my mind if I heard the whole album, but I never really dug that Do You Realize song. Throwing rocks and bottles at Nickelback in Portugal. Didn't that audience know what they were getting themselves into when they went? Or they didn't realize how bad or mediocre they were going to be live? Ha. Say what you will about Creed, but they were HUGE at the time. Like, debuting at no. 1 and selling over 800,000 copies of an album in its first week of release HUGE. I genuinely thought they were going to be one of those legendary arena rock acts. Certainly appeared to be going that way for them. I admit, I was a fan of theirs. Oh, well. Ha. I disliked Coldplay back when it WASN'T hip to dislike them. ;) (Yet, I liked Creed. Go figure) I do like Norah Jones, though. And as far as Green Day being "punk" goes, they did start out as a hardcore punk band, and let's put it this way, who would you rather have a thoughtful conversation with about bands like the Ramones and the Clash, Green Day or Avril Lavigne? That was another criticism about Avril was that she never even heard of those bands despite being labeled as "punk". Not really her fault since the labeling seemed to mostly be an industry thing, like music labeling in general tends to be anyway. I think by the 1990s and 2000s, Rod Stewart was essentially a shell of his former self and had pretty much reached his peak and he finally realized that, so, yeah, might as well start doing standards. Didn't think it was that bad, though. I got some of those albums. Plus, considering the surgery he had on his throat to remove a cancerous growth on his thyroid a few years before, perhaps he wanted to relax his voice for a while too.
Boards of Canada were at their prime in '02 . What a great album!
That was a fun one guys!
The music of high school for me! Great blast from the past albums I forgot about. Fithen singing Avril Lavigne was hilarious in the best way! lol.

Holy moly thanks to Robert for shouting out the George Harrison Brainwashed album.
