  • We take you on a ride along in the follow camera position with Medic 11 whom is acting Medic 29, Medic 29 was on another call and had Medic 11 watch over their quarters while they deal with the run they received in a different area, we were sitting in the bay area when the station alarm sounded it called Medic 29 which was supposed to respond to the heart attack on the Brookhaven Trail at 6000 Brookhaven Road at Cherry Lane but since they were too far out the call landed on the acting medic unit which was Medic 11 and responded with Engine 93 and Ambulance 93, Engine 93 and Ambulance 93 were also heard being dispatched and also heard responding but were not seen in the video as they were in another part of Brookhaven possibly somewhere on the western side of Brookhaven, Medic 11 arrived on scene and was 10-84, they took the 59 year old’s vital signs which came out to be a very serious heart attack situation that they needed to get to Saint Luke’s Hospital immediately, his vital signs were: pulse: 42, respiration: 15 and shallow, BP: 60 Palp, and heart rate: 135, he complained about even more chest pains on the west side of his rib cage possibly from broken ribs, he did indeed go into full cardiac arrest and was also in full respiratory arrest but the medic that was driving never reported about his respiratory arrest so that it could also be relayed to the hospital, they did shock him to get a pulse back, they charged up the cardiac defibrillator to 200 Jewels and shocked him, they did also undergo CPR in the back of the ambulance but was also not reported in for additional relay information for the hospital to keep on the patient’s medical record, he was indeed intubated, they did call in a code blue which is the most serious situation in the medical field because you never know what code blue situation may be occurring maybe it could be a severe heart attack, maybe a severe asthma attack, maybe a severe brain attack, or even a severe blackout that caused someone to collapse, you just never know what happened when that code blue transmission is paged for all medical personnel to respond to, I’ve already treated 5 heart attack victims because I’m definitely trained in medical first aid and somewhat of advanced life support I have 2 parts of my medical training: basic and advanced life support, I’ve shocked these 5 patients whose hearts have stopped and caused them to die temporarily, I’ve also intubated them but it was very difficult because of a lot of these cases when you’re not breathing we won’t be able to see where to place the endotracheal tube in the trachea because of the person’s tongue being in the way even when their tongue starts to swell that’s even more complex to do intubation, I’ve ridden with the paramedics in the back of the ambulance to the hospital at the hospital in the emergency room the paramedics and myself assisted the doctor and nurses with trying to restart each man’s heart after they were in cardiac arrest, we were able to go with the doctors and nurses partly through the ER to get the victim to the Cath Lab or Catheterization Lab so the Cath Tech can take a look at what happened, but we were called in with more doctors and nurses to the Cath Lab for yet another cardiac arrest and we ended up restarting his heart yet again but after the tech was finished diagnosing the problem he told us he needed to have a heart transplant operation done and so they waited for the donor heart to arrive after we got him back in the ER, once it arrived the surgeon called the ER and let us know they’re ready for him so we gounded up and got him up to surgery to replace his old heart with a new one that was donated, once we saw the heart start on it’s own we were able to stitch him up and bring him to recovery, he walked out of the hospital within 5 weeks, the other 4 that had this same problem had to undergo the same thing so it didn’t happen again.
