I am not speaking about "perfection", one camnot even speak about goog work. From this record, no one would be able to write down the vocal part. If you want to hear how this should be sung - just what is a standard for a performer to do it publicly - listen to Lucia Valentini Terrani. To sing the notes as written by the composer is a must. It is the beginning where to start. Garanca is unable to reach, in this piece, even this starting point. It is not a shame to lack such skills, everybody is not coloratura mezzo, it is a shame to perform publicly something what one is unable to do technically well. It is a fake commited on the unprofessional audience.

An object lesson in Rossini style. Elīna sings it perfectly and with unaffected charm - no 'Prima Donna' posturing. Always a beautiful and intelligent singer!
I have no idea why someone as good as her needs to embarass oneself by performing a piece for which one doesn't have technical skills. She is an intelligent and excellent musician, she must know very well that she has no skills for this piece (I have heard more records with her, she's never given all notes properly). Why is she practising this vocal orthopedy, on an underaverage level, instead of singing other pieces which she is able to perform a perfection? I think, the first thing is to sing/play all the notes written by the composer. If one is unable to do so, to stay professional, he/she shouldn't perform it. At least some people do not sit on their ears.
If anyone is 'embarrassing oneself', it is you! Whilst you are sitting there with your clipboard and score in front of you giving marks, the rest of us are immersed in the delights of this extraordinary performance!

She is clearly a VERY VERY gifted singer. This is quite a difficult piece because the range is all over the board. She nailed it perfectly.
