Old man didn't have a body movement track on him the first game. he made the second game bc of Gihun's method. He shouted the minions to stop the mass murder thing bc he didn't expect it to happen. The chain in the tug-of-war rope didn't actually attached to him incase his team lost. He purposely "dead" in the marble game bc the next game literally depends on luck, he's not taking his chances. But even if he did, his cracky ass old bone won't survive the last squid game.
He should have taken the money from his daughter's stepfather. At least he would have saved his mother, and at least not seeing his daughter would be something outside of his control. But his mother died because he wanted to keep his promise to his daughter. And he left his daughter but it was of his own free will.
I love how the same people were shown throughout the series so we see consistent reactions. That was nice. I was loving some of these people's reactions.

Guys, if you don't know, there will be a season 2 and the detective will be back, there will be some new games and new players/actors, the creator of the movie announced that some of the players will be revived.

He participated in those games with the intent to win the money and even after what happened in the first game he still came back. Sang woo let him win because he knows he can't live with the guilt of what he did and he knows he will not help anyone with the price money if he gets it.
