    It doesn't matter how small it is, at least you found gold and some lovely bits of quartz. Did that piece contain any gold ?

    Can I ask what process you use to identify potential gold bearing burns and rivers before you head out exploring? I’ve seen a number of folk use Mr Palmers book and others using BGS maps. Atb Chris

      Mr Palmers book if of course helpful, but most of the best rivers are not in there. A basic understanding of geology helps, as well as historical research, maps and of course word of mouth. BUT most of all its getting out there and testing for yourself
