I've seen a lot of live music in my time (I'm 63) I saw sleeper play at The V festival in Essex around this time, so I was probably mid to late 30's. Wener was something special and she knew it, the crowd were utterly entranced by her, I was too, but I kind of noticed that this was on a different level to most performers and I spent a lot of the time watching the audience. Getting old is crap.
If you weren't old your favourite memories would be from the 00s or the 10s 'culture'. I would much rather be in my fifties now - which I am - with my memories of the 90s than be in my thirties now. Being old(er) is far from crap!
Louise Wener was gorgeous looking in the mid 1990s. Chased after all these girls that looked like her in college at the time as Sleeper was a big deal back then. I'd have nailed Louise in a heartbeat given the chance. Great song after all that thanks.
