David Draiman the singer here actually received a congratulatory letter from the original composer Paul Simon on an outstanding rendition of their classic song. High praise.
Ok, I have watched EVERY reaction out there from this song! YOURS is one of the best! You can’t hide those emotions! Fantastic to watch you watch that video!
I worked as security at a Disturbed gig in Brisbane and was stood front of stage when he sang this live, goose bumps all over arena but the original video they did for this is truly a work of art.
I am old enough to enjoy the original version by Simon&Garfunkel, adventurous enough to listen and appreciate the Pentatonix version, & young enough at heart, to be obsessed with Disturbed's version!!! Loved your reaction, very organic :)
I must be in your generation. Wonderful way to describe all three versions and how they might effect our generation. This version is my favorite. But the S&G version started it all. Amazing how Paul Simon predicted that nothing would change, or perhaps become wirse in this world.
Your reaction was exactly the reaction I had the first time heard it too! I smiled, giggled, look of shock... so may emotions. I think I watched it about 7-8 times one after the other. Since then I come back to it over and over.
Of all the reaction videos of this cover by Disturbed, yours is hands down the best! I too was in awe of David Draiman's incredible voice! A masterpiece of a classic song.
David Draiman and Disturbed really gave this song the darkness and the power it was missing in the original version. And if you watch the video there's people with music they wrote but never shared standing there and waiting. Disturbed hops on the ship with musical instruments to bring the sound back to the people. Best version ever of this song and your reaction is priceless. Thanks man.
This was an allusion to Greek Mythology and the ferry crossing the river Styx with all the dead souls on the boat because people self destructed.. Simon and Garfunkle sang about in in the 60's and the song was about the lack of communication and the lack of love people had for one another. The song was a warning that we were all going to self destruct as the world becomes more corrupt. People are more empty now than ever and there has been a huge turn from God. Disturbed sang as if he were God himself giving us a final waring. He sang with passion and anger. These are some very powerful lyrics and this was an massively powerful performance!
I couldn't agree with you more, Bake. This is destined to be, if it isn't already, a Rock n' Roll CLASSIC. Judging my the 100 Million + Views of the original LIVE performance on Conan O'Briend of March 28, 2016, I'm betting it has already hit that plateau! Check it out: th-cam.com/video/Bk7RVw3I8eg/w-d-xo.html
David Draiman...a voice to die for! A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime. He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before.....just hauntingly beautiful and pure tonal properties to it! An awesome talent and obvious training to deliver what he does!! Can sing like an angel or the devil ! Loved your reaction and your take on David's performance Ivanimal !! Try "Deceiver", "The Night", "Indestructible", "The Light", "Violence Fetish" and "Enough" by Disturbed too.....they're a bit "heavier" ...lol....
Bravo! I so loved your reaction. I'm 63 years old and grew up on Simon and Garfunkel. I had heard other cover but never thought I could hear anything even close to being good enough. That was until I saw the cover done by Disturbed. We are ages apart but my reaction was the same as yours! I had to go get my wife quickly to share it with her. We both said the same thing you just did. They one upped the original! Great reactions from you! Keep up the great work.
Love your reaction. David's voice is so beautiful and powerful. I'm also a Disturbed fan who is 58, so I have heard the origial song. His version is the most beautiful I have ever seen.
Finally someone who has had the same reaction I did hearing him. This is the first time I’ve really heard his range and talent in a video and your reaction captured exactly how it makes people feel. Good on ya mate!
LOVE your Tiger print on the wall! The BEST part about Disturbed having done this song is how many people were allowed and allowed him to show what an amazing singer he has always been. Those of us whom have listened to Disturbed for years have always known it, but now the world has been able to see past the 'aggression' to find the beauty that's always been there. So many people have likely heard a Disturbed song without knowing who they are and likely made a decision they didn't like their genre of preferred style so they never listened to them again....This is am AMAZING rendition of a beautiful song.
I have literally watched 50+ reaction videos to this song, both the studio produced video here and the live performance from Conan's show. I am a big fan of Disturbed as I love hard rock and metal, but I am a general music lover who can appreciate most any genre of music. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOUR REACTION, IVAN! I love that you checked out the original first. That only intensifies the enormity of this version. David Draiman has a voice like no other. Talk about CONTROL and POWER! I can listen to this song over and over and over because it is so emotive. Paul Simon actually commented after hearing this that this song was no longer his. What a huge endorsement! Your reaction spoke of what Disturbed gave to this song, Ivan. Many reactions are stunned. You were stunned, though, in such a joyous way. You obviously GET IT!!! I hear this song the same way you do. While there are many songs I love, I cannot think of but a couple others that I would be willing to listen to ad infinitum. This song cannot just be heard. It is FELT down to the core of one's being. I think the reaction videos support that but yours takes it a step further in it's pure celebration of the gift we are given when we hear it. Keep being you. Your sincerity and vulnerability are refreshing. ❤
I don't think I've ever liked and subbed to a reaction channel only midway through a video... THIS is what a reaction should look like. You are so animated and genuine and I can't emphasize enough how refreshing that is. I bet you could have a negative reaction to one of my favorite songs in the world and I'd still admire and respect you-- and find you equally as endearing. I love your joyful unrestrained reaction to this epic cover!!! Recently heard in an interview that in addition to his early training as a cantor, a vocal coach Melissa Cross taught him how to create his growly rasp safely, he has been singing like this for nearly 30 years.
Your face, and huge smiles say it all, Bro!!! Pretty much the same as my reaction except I was crying so hard and laughing too!!! And I had goosebumps so bad I actually got chills!!! I love what this man’s voice does to people!!! I read that Paul Simon loved this cover so much that he contacted Disturbed to tell them it was the best cover he’d ever heard!
Love your reaction to this amazing version by David Dramien and Disturbed. He has the voice of an angel with an incredible range. What a wonderful and powerful performance (and LIVE folks)!!!
Great reaction! You seem to have a love of music and not "just" doing videos. David's work with Disturbed is NOT my genre but he has a fantastic voice with SUCH a range. This song was incredible!!
I love this song so much, I listen to it almost all the time. I started playing it recently in the back seat of an Lyft but didn't realize my Bluetooth weren't on and when David Draiman voice came on, the Lyft driver said it gave him the chills and wanted to hear more by the end of the song he was hooked. He said, that during the song, he said the hair on his arms stood up. I told him about the band, who the singer is and told him about how Paul Simon saw their performance on Conan and that he contacted them to tell them that it was better than the original. Now, as a 61 year old male, I have to admit that I am not a fan of Disturbed's other music but this has become my most favorite song.
One of, if not the best, cover of a song EVER! I love watching the reactions to this song. The orig was soft & gentle...like a warning...this one is the anger of what's going on. Excellent.
Every time I watch this video and hear this song, I tear up like crazy. And your reaction to this video was my ultimate favourite it put me over the top, this is by far the best cover, video and song of all time
Wow I loved your reaction. This is one powerful song. I was a teenager when Simon & Garfunkel brought out the original. I loved it then and I love Disturbed‘s version. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve watched this video and it still gives me goosebumps.

Bro, your reaction to this song is the best, and ranks in the top 2 reactions to a song I've ever seen. I enjoyed watching you enjoy one of my favorite songs of all time. And remember, as the Persian poet Rumi said, where ever you are, be the soul of that place. You did that in this video
Two 👍 👍 thumbs up on your reaction to this cover video of the Sound of Silence by Disturbed and David Draiman. They took a Fantastically written song from almost 60 years ago... and literally breathed new life and emotions into a this song that was all BUT forgotten. I particularly like the fact that you listened to the Original version first then listened and reacted to this NEW and very, very well done cover. May I suggest that you research the band Disturbed and David Draiman so that you get a better understanding of just how awesome David Draiman's voice is. The singer from Disturbed: David Draiman made the lyrics more meaningful and makes u listen in depth to what he is singing. It gave me goose bumps the first time I heard it. And no other song in the world has ever done that to me.

By far the most reaction i enjoyed for this video. Dude ur face and pure loving of the performance is touching. U deserve a lot more likes wish i could hit that button a mil times
I read some where that the original was "a whisper of a warning" and this is a "shout". I love the apocalyptic start of the video. The warning was not heard and destruction followed. And that's what the song is about. People "talking" about abuse, bulling, hurting, needing help. "Talking" without words, but by their actions, because its not things people talk about because they are afraid or embarrassed. And people not "listening" because they don't want to believe its happening or don't want to deal with it . This is about a cry for help, a cry for change, a cry of warning and those who are listening aren't hearing what's being said.
I just watched your video and I absolutely LOVED watching your reaction on this 🤗 Sound of Silence blew me away the first time I seen it too! And I still listen to it constantly and I’m still blown away each time. I travel a lot and if you listen to this while you’re flying, especially @ night time , it’s absolutely incredible and I can’t really explain it but once you do it then you’ll understand what I’m talking about 😊 Thank you so much for sharing this. You were Awesome! ❤️
This is the best reaction I ever seen . I love it dude!! IT was such amazing. What I liked the most is you didn't stop the video every 10 seconds. You really enjoy it the way lots of us did it. Greetings from Monterrey Nuevo León, México.
I've watched hundreds of these reaction videos, my man, yours is far and away the best! I love to see you get swept away and the pure joy you convey in hearing such a great voice sing an equally great song the way it should be sung. Take a bow my friend, great reaction!
Seriously, best most genuine reaction I've seen on TH-cam. Getting at the heart of the song's message. Thank you for sharing a real sliver of yourself. If everyone could just be themselves and allow others to do the same we'd be a much happier world.
the best reaction to this song ever! thank you for sharing sweetie, you brought me back to the pure joy I felt hearing it! great!!! holy shit is right!!
This is a world away from the original song, and so different for him to sing. The lower range of his voice is amazing, and the way it escalates with each verse is unbelievably powerful. I love it
Your face is so expressive. Loved your reaction. All I've been doing the last 3 days is watch this video and watching reaction videos. This has to be the 30th? 40th I've watched. I've never watched reaction videos before. Can't get enough if this song, abs watching people respond to it.
This is the first video I have seen of yours, and the pure joy you felt listening to this song is contagious.I had to subscribe to your reaction videos because of it.
The music video right now has 535 MILLION views. For just one song, that is impressive. Talk about speaking through the art of sound, good grief. Disturbed, eat your hearts out.
Your eyes and smile says it all. Davjd Draiman .lead singer of heavy metal band . Best reaction of 20 I've seen . Touche .3cheers from Canada
Thank you 🙏🏼
His voice starts out like storm clouds on the horizon, then peaks like a raging hurricane, then back at the end to a gentle rainfall.
Well said.💓
Very beautiful description
This is the best description I’ve ever seen of someone describing his voice for this!
Exactly!!!
Beautiful... Well Put
I have listened to about 100 reaction videos to this cover and love your reaction....I feel the same way every time I hear it.
For many this performance elicits an incredibly powerful emotional reaction. I love watching people experience it for the first time.

Dude, you're smile... your joy, just made my day❤ thank you

Thank you so much 😊
This is the best reaction I ever seen . I love it dude!! IT was such amazing. What I liked the most is you didn't stop the video every 10 seconds. You really enjoy it the way lots of us did it.
Greetings from Monterrey Nuevo León, México.
Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed it :)
Brilliant, brilliant reaction video, brother. That song and voice comes around only once a lifetime!!!
I loved your reaction. Your joy was awesome :) Peace!
I've watched hundreds of these reaction videos, my man, yours is far and away the best! I love to see you get swept away and the pure joy you convey in hearing such a great voice sing an equally great song the way it should be sung. Take a bow my friend, great reaction!
I’m really glad you enjoyed it. Thank you so much ☺️
Seriously, best most genuine reaction I've seen on TH-cam. Getting at the heart of the song's message. Thank you for sharing a real sliver of yourself. If everyone could just be themselves and allow others to do the same we'd be a much happier world.
Thank you so much 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed it. I always try to keep my reactions real.
I love your reaction, very authentic and emotional. I especially love the applause :))
the best reaction to this song ever! thank you for sharing sweetie, you brought me back to the pure joy I felt hearing it! great!!! holy shit is right!!
Thank you so much 😊
I remember having the same reaction at the first time i heard this !
Your response has to be the most genuine, organic response I've ever witnessed. Thank you.
Thank you
The music video right now has 535 MILLION views. For just one song, that is impressive. Talk about speaking through the art of sound, good grief. Disturbed, eat your hearts out.
