I think he can do both at the same time. He was OCS, which means he has to return, and he fouled a STBD tack boat, meaning he has to do a gybe and tack (more or less in one continuous move). He did both of these.

It appears 27 gained a substantial advantage on the fleet by the port/ starboard after the start. Interesting rules question regarding the penalty turn and clearing your self?
@@lbose1 all too often seen. Start on port and as soon as they cross the line and get the all clear turn to starboard and put everyone at fault. However they have to be underway and not just getting underway. Difficult if no OD is present.

Lots of Port Tackers coming in within the Zone and Starboard tack boats having to alter course - but calls of PROTEST !!! WHY?
