I find it best to not use cardinal directions use the numbers on the compass cuz if you say BTR North in the tree line that's a lot more area than btr125 in the tree line
youd be right, especially because 125 degrees would be southeast and not north. Cardinal directions are more effective because they’re quicker and easier to use under pressure. esp if that BTR is coming for you from that tree line. there’s no time to check degrees on a compass (since youve demonstrated that most of us dont think in degrees and require additional cognitive power), interpret the direction, and cross-reference with the map for marking if you arent FTL. degrees are and should be limited to local chat to minimize confusion and delay.
@felixaltenburg1253 bro, I don't know the degrees on a compass off the top of my head but just about every milsim game. When you look at the compass, there's a number on the compass. It's usually digital and separate from the actual liners themselves and gives a way better reading allowing for better response in a situation like this, If I go BTR 125 that is the exact direction that BTR is in going BTR Southeast that's a lot more area to pan across
@@bpw102896 using btr 125 causes confusion and inefficiency for anyone more than 15 meters from you. here is why: - they need to figure out who made the call, as your position is not immediately known - they have to align 125 on their compass, which, as you admit and prove, most players do not intuitively know. (why use it if you do not even understand it? it is like noob armor squads spinning their turrets 360 because they cannot tell that 05 is just 10degrees off from 355 degrees lol) - then they must check the map to find your position and determine your facing direction RELATIVE to theirs - even after all that, they are left guessing range or landmarks. 125, but how far? from where? a proper callout like "btr east of radio tower on main road" gives direction, distance, and a clear reference point and is easily markable for anyone from anywhere on the entire map, be it ftl or sl. if the squad is mostly together, "btr southeast, 200 meters" works, but only if you are all in the same area. "btr 125" is barely tolerable garbage speak, even in local chat. it lacks brevity, clarity, and essential details like range or landmarks. while it might feel easier for YOU, it makes comms harder for everyone else, creating redundancy and confusion. if this costs tickets or delays action, the issue is not with the squad, it is your callouts. what is worse, this is under a video where people come for guidance, and you are spreading a bad example. clear, effective communication wins games. btr 125 does not.
Wish more new players watched your content!
