Hello! Thank you for this awesome tutorial. I’m wondering if a person could accomplish the same thing by using pre-smocked fabric? I just bought some of that type of fabric and would really love to make something like this without having to cut the smocked part from the regular fabric to make the pants. I think it would be a really big hit if you could manage to produce a tutorial like that!
Hi! You sure can use the pre-smocked fabric. I'd love to do a tutorial using it but the fabric is readily available in my part of the world. 🧡

It's called Self Healing Cutting Mat and yes, it's perfect to use a rotary cutter on it.

I do love your very detailed explanation. Struggling with shiring, not getting the tension right. I'm sure it's my machine setting but struggling to fix the problem. The shirring is soon loose, like the size of my normal bust instead of the 'proper scrunch' that you created. Any ideas where I went wrong pls?

The figures you get from the brust measurements did you divide it into 2 ?then use it for the waist of the trouser ?
You might need to rewatch the tutorial because I shared a pattern picture and explained in detail how to get your figures.

Hello Sandy, it depends on your size. But what you should do is make your harem pants pattern. With it, you'll be cutting 4pieces. You'll then be able to calculate how many yards that'll take.
And of course, you need fabric for the upper part too.
I'm a US size 8, I used about 4yards I believe.
