  • My jeans are getting tight from #stayhome binge snacking. Taste-testing all the ice cream in 7-11 wasn't such a good idea.
    Here's a drafting and sewing tutorial on how I make my super baggy drop crotch pants. You can use the pockets tutorial to add pockets to existing patterns. It's always great to have deep front pockets :)
    ( I haven't updated my blog yet, but when I do , there will be more notes and illustrations over there Updated !!! )

    This pattern is absolutely amazing! Ive mocked up a toile but instead of am elastic waist, I've added ties to the side seams so I can tie the pant to fit, which also create a nice pleat/fold. Thank you for sharing!

    thank you so so much for this. i have several pairs of harems i bought from a vendor in hong kong and have been trying to figure out how to pattern them ever since and this video is so so helpful in figuring out the trouble spots. I LOVE this style and want to make some out of sturdier fabric for work.

    Thank you for making this so easy - and not having to go out and buy a serger is awesome... And, nope no binge eater here - just like the comfy-ness of these pants instead of wearing sweats all the time... Next I will try to make these and make them into overalls...

    Hi! Thank you for this tutorial! Those flat seams are a game changer. Can you tell me how many yards of fabric you used for your pants?

    • @SaltyDIY
      @SaltyDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey there, naimawo :) 2 yards of 60" wide fabric would be enough .

    Thank you for the pattern and the video! This is my first time sewing a complete garment from scratch; I figured a baggy, drop-crotch pants would be much easier for a beginner. So far I've drafted the pattern, copied it into the fabric and cut the pieces. I'm however very confused about the pockets. The first step of sewing the curved part with the front, ironing and top-stitching is straightforward, but I'm confused about how the second part of the pocket is attached. In the tutorial you say to sew and zigzag; I'm guessing this means I first sew a normal straight stitch on the line, and then the zigzag stitch (which I can see is very densely packed) is to keep it from fraying... but do I start stitching all the way into the front on the pants? Not sure how to do that without catching it in the rest of the stitch (sorry, English is not my first language, communication is difficult haha)... anyway, I'll work on that today, I'm sure this is very clear and easy to people with experience, and I'm gonna figure it out!! Thanks again for the tutorial, can't wait to see how many time I'll have to undo my stitches XD

      Hi there ! When you get to the second part of the pocket , sew the inner long side + the bottom to the first part of the pocket. so you kinda, lift the 2 pocket pcs and sew those two sides together, don't sew them onto the front of the pants . After that when you are sewing the sides of the pants ( front and back panels ) the remaining long side of the pocket will be sandwiched between them. Hope this helps :)

    🌻 Thank you so much. I am a beginner and new to sewing. This is my very first project & a bit of a challenge for me. Instead of making front pockets, I attached 2 inside side pockets and stitched up the pants sides using the same method as you. Now I’m stuck and understand why front pockets or no pockets at all would have been better for my skill level. The double stitching you used to close the pants sides, doesn’t accommodate the side pockets of my pants. Can my pants pockets be saved or simply remove them? Please advise. Thank you!!!!!

    • @SaltyDIY
      @SaltyDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi :) you can sew the sides up without the pockets , then add some cargo style pockets that go over the side seams ?

      @@SaltyDIY what a splendid idea 💡 thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. I will do exactly that. I’m really enjoying this project. Thanking you once again for this sewing tutorial and your prompt response ❤️ and saving my pants👍

      Yes ! I would love to see it if you try it out ! I think I would use a lighter weight denim for the waist band area and the pockets :)
