I personally would not prefer this lens for video. It’s too heavy and has lots of distortion and vignetting. I use the 16-35mm 2.8 GM for most of my video needs. For gimbal work I also really like the 28mm f2, and for cinematic close ups I really like 85mm 1.8. In fact this video was shot with the 85mm 1.8 on an A7Riii

Lol so not really. It’s just a question of does the lens handle it bad or do they handle it really bad. I’ve had some lenses to where it was still useable and some where the image was complete garbage.

Will using and ND filter help with the direct to the light shot?
I didn’t test with this lens, but I know in general high quality ND filters helps with contrast and flaring

I used the Sony 85mm 1.8. It was little tricky to shoot something like this with an 85, but I really like the look
Interesting that it has the swirly bokeh on the edges that zeiss is known for

the funny thing is... the lens you use to talk to camera is SO superior to the lens you are testing with the model in all aspects.
This was shot using an 85mm lens. 35mm and 85mm are just different tools for different jobs
