    I watched this movie in 1983 when I was 13 years old, and let me tell you I was completely freaked out! You really hit the nail on the head with everything you said about Pieces. The kills are most definitely the highlight of the film. The acting, oh my the acting was atrocious! But I love it! As a matter of fact I watched it again this weekend on Tubi! Great review my friend! Now watch Maniac!

  • @kevinsherman7958

    Your description perfectly sums up Pieces. From the bad acting, nonsensical monents, anachronistic telephones and the kills it's a guilty pleasure in every sense of the word.

    Yeah, I've seen it, was one my dad had on video tape. It is a fav of mine too. But funny timing you doing this review. Just last night, I was rewatching the Cinema Snob episode of Pieces. Thing is, Brad had since edited it out, but I seem to remember a moment, he breaks character and says how much he really enjoyed the movie, because he did it as a tribute to someone who I guess was involved in the movie that passed away. But I do love how Cinema Snob refers to Willard as Bruto, that guy from Popeye. Specially because with that look he gives, he really does resemble Bruto. Anyways, thank you, Lee, glad you liked it too.

    I remember going to my friends 12th birthday party in the summer of 1985 and he got his mom to rent Basket case and Pieces. I'll never forget that ending though. I had read about it on this now long defunct website called Losman's Lair of Horror from back in the day that listed all of these insane grossout, obscure movies and I started searching for a bunch of them. BRILLIANT review, bro! You highlighted the funniest and goriest moments to produce one hell of a fun video!
    You simply MUST see 1984's Don't Open Til Christmas. Edmund Purdom (The Dean) plays the detective and partially directed it.
    It's not as gruesome as Pieces but boasts a ridiculous body count and plenty of stupid, goofy laughable moments.
    It's one of my bizarre favourites alongside Pieces. 👍🔥

    Thankfully, I actually saw this one on its theatrical run. Great fun. It's a mix of slasher and giallo, for sure. Linda Day George's "Bastard!" moment is iconic. The Horror Geek always uses that clip whenever someone in a film he's reviewing says "bastard." He'll say, "No, wait, wait. Shoe him how to do it, Linda Day George!"

    I absolutely loved this movie. The first time I saw it, that scene with the body falling out of the cabinet made me jump out of my chair. Then, I jumped again, when it came to life 😂. Awesome movie.
    I have a lesser known recommendation for you. That movie is called "The Exterminator". That is a vigilante style action revenge thriller, about a man going after criminals, street gangs, after his friend is hospitalized. He has a homemade flamethrower. Christopher George plays the detective who is on the case.
    Thank you for another awesome video 😎

    The first time I saw this was actually in a theater, just a few years ago at one of the annual Horrorthons in Santa Monica. It came on pretty early in the morning and we definitely had a ball with it. It's kind of a mess but, as you said, in the best way possible, and it's a sentimental favorite of mine. Even though it's not 100% Italian and was made kind of late to be considered a full-blown giallo, a lot of people throw it in that camp and I would have to agree. There are just too many giallo elements within for it not to be. BTW, the director and lead actor worked together again the following year in the laughably bad "E.T." rip-off, "Pod People" (AKA "Extraterrestrial Visitors").

    • @DrumdumsOfficial
      @DrumdumsOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So jealous tat you got to see this at a horror con. Sounds like a blast. And I agree. It's a "hard edged" giallo in every sense. I need to look up Pod People now haha.

    • @SirHatchporch
      @SirHatchporch 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DrumdumsOfficial That year's Horrorthon lineup was Halloween III, Death Spa, Anguish, Spookies, Dead & Buried, Pieces and The Nest. The Horrorthon always starts at 7:30 p.m., so Pieces must have come on around 6 a.m. LOL That was probably a perfect time for it.
      I highly recommend the MST3K episode of "Pod People," which makes it much more entertaining. In fact it's always been my favorite MST3K episode.

    You are right, it is very crazy movie and with some great death scenes, and to me, it was always a very fun slasher. It has so many random moments which always made me laugh, and one of the most WTF endings ever.

    It's interesting with the pool scene in this movie is very similar to Friday 13th part 4. As far the temperature in water being so cold and both actresses in those movies almost succumbing hypothermia.

    This movie is everything you want in an 80’s so bad it’s good slasher. I think my favorite scene might be when the cop asks the teacher if the gore soaked chainsaw sitting next to the dismembered body could be the weapon that was used 🤣🤣🤣
