  • Old photographs. 1960's and later. Newcastle upon Tyne.
I've recently re-discovered some old negatives and slides, and digitised them.
If you'd like to, you can buy me a coffee if you think this was useful to you. Thank you.

I remember sitting on the hill near Armstrong Road glancing over the water to the Stacks of the power station being blown up to make way for the Metro Centre. Also remember having a spade in the same place years ago and dug up loads of old coins. Happy days.

I used to catch the No1 bus yo Slatyford Sch and could see all of those chimney stacks as we came towards Denton Road, and always wondered what they were.....now I know, thank you. ☺👍👍

My first job was working as a lab technician at Slatyford School in 1973-1974. Used to live in Throckley then I moved out to
Jesmond but I still used to walk to and from work on fine days to save the bus fare!
I relocated away from the North East after that....
.....came back for a nostalgic visit in 1993 to find Slatyford School had been totally erased from the landscape!!!

Yes, all different now. I do have another video on here of the school that I did in 1991, showing some of it before it was demolished. Let me know if you can't find it. Thank you for watching.

I went to Slatyford from 1972 to 1979 and love to see photos of the school. I didn't take any unfortunately so your occasional ones allow me to reminisce!

I come from Hertfordshire and I moved up here 10 years ago with my wife, and I have to say that Newcastle is the most loveliest place in England. Unless the Lord tells us to go elsewhere, I'm staying put here, I wouldn't move anywhere else. Also I love history and Newcastle has a fascinating history.

I remember Armstrong Road before it was redeveloped. I went to Slatyford School on the No 1 bus. There's a separate video on here of that school....just search it's name, or from my list of videos if you'd like to see it. Thank you for your comment. :)

@@resistantgeordie2636. Wow, my dad went to St Joseph's, a bit before you though.... About 1921 it would have been. He was born in Hannah St, and I know later my Nanna lived in St Margaret's Road. I have another video on here with a photo taken of a group of children around 1987 from there.... Loads of people have commented about who they were.....
